You can stake Bitcoin in a wrapped form on other networks. But is that really Bitcoin? No, it isn't. I don't trust projects like that. If they were to suddenly collapse one day, your real Bitcoin would be stolen and you'd be left with nothing but the worthless wrapped tokens they issued.

There are also offers from some centralized exchanges saying, leave your coins on our platform and we'll pay you staking rewards. In this case too, if something happens to the CEX, you'll lose your Bitcoin.

Rather than trusting someone else, it's best to keep your coins in your own wallet. You might not earn staking rewards but you'll know your coins are safe.

There are ways to earn rewards using your Bitcoin. This can be done through staking via exchanges or DeFi protocols. However, even though these methods offer rewards, you’re still taking a risk by handing over your Bitcoin to third parties. It's better to manage your Bitcoin directly in your own wallet, as third parties can encounter issues, whether custodial risk, smart contract vulnerabilities, or other issues that could result in your Bitcoin being lost forever.

I don't think that's a good idea. You are just putting your own custody at high risk since you have to give up your private keys to the platform which is very wrong in the first place, that will only create a counterparty risk.

Also, bitcoin does not have fixed price because of its high volatility, so expect that any time the leased asset will drop in value, so you will yield only small interest. Good thing if the price spikes, but mostly it drops down so that means smaller gains for you.

The worst thing is, since you are lending your bitcoin to the business platform, so in order to generate profits from it they will use it or trade it, and when problem occurs, your bitcoin will be at risk of losing.

The best option, just hold your coins to avoid compromising the future value of your coins. Not your keys, not your coins.

Actually you can because you can do whatever you want on your own bitcoin. But the question is, are you willing to give up the privacy of your coin? Are you willing to lose it completely when things don't work as planned? There are a lot of risks when you decide to enter bitcoin leasing.

Simply put, if you can sell it at a higher price compared when you bought it, that would give you the best advantage because we buy and hold our coins so we can sell and make the best of profits in the future. Or better yet, if you are not actually needing an immediate amount, take time to hold it longer and sell it when the perfect price is achieved.

I think the closest is about putting it on the "earn" feature of the centralized exchanges because you earn interest from it. That's not directly you're leasing or lending it to them although the concept is the same.
Not your key not your coin. It is better he hold his bitcoin on a noncustodial wallet instead than to put his coin on the hands of the centralized exchanges. This is how staking on noncustodial wallet and earning on exchanges that are centralized are different.

Bitcoin will give higher ROI than staking in a way that the ROI from the earn will be insignificant.

It would be stupid to actually make such move, I recently just saw a thread where an exchange just decided to shut down their operations without properly notifying their user, now imagine if you had your Bitcoin leased to the CEX as you claim what do you think will be your faith since they will be shutting down, I know they will be some sort of grace period to withdraw but how certain are you if they will even allow get back your Bitcoin before the date of shutdown.

As we take the bitcoin like any object we have. For example houses or cars , etc..
Can we lease it? Can I lease my bitcoin and get money back on it?
In other alt coins like solana, we can stake it. So why can't we invent some technique to be capable of bitcoin leasing?
Before thinking about it, if you analyzed its advantages and disadvantages, it would have become very clear. Well, when Bitcoin was 126 thousand dollars, you took a Bitcoin lease of ten thousand dollars and now it has decreased by almost half its price, then how would you have dealt with it at this moment. If he later gave you the amount of Bitcoin equivalent to the dollar and you took money in return, he would not accept such a big loss from you. So, leave the Bitcoin lease issue aside for now and try staking on Bitcoin on various exchanges if necessary. People do not like to do things that cause too much trouble, maybe in the future Bitcoin leasing would have caused such a big trouble, that's why the option of Bitcoin leasing has been dropped.

What I have seen here is that it is not that you can put it up for lease but you can use itnas collateral if you want to take a cash loan. I have seen services offering such. However, you need to make sure that you are not at the disadvantage position.

I've been reading all the posts under this thread and how serious we've been trying to state ways we can possibly lease our Bitcoin and get interests.

Almost the suggestions makes so much sense but hope we know that once your Bitcoin is out of your wallet, it's technically not yours again?

So what happens when you give your BTC to someone and they promise to return it with interest only for them to get into a situation that became too tempting and they end up selling the Bitcoin you kept at their disposal, what will then happen?

Leasing your Bitcoin is very possible, the technology allows that but how about trust? What happens when it's broken? Is it worth the risk?

Bitcoin leasing is still possible since it has its own financial value. But knowing the fact that it carries high financial risks, like loss of asset custody, that could lead to losing your coins completely, that means you don't lease to profit, you lease because you allow your coins end up totally lost from your full custody and privacy. And that should put an end to the idea of bitcoin leasing.

But who actually profit from this approach? Not the bitcoin owner, but the platform where you entrusted your bitcoin. They gain an advantage from your complete loss of custody, plus they will be making more benefits with your bitcoin once they use for their future personal interest. So its now their bitcoin, not yours.

Why do you want to find a cheap system, where holding Bitcoin is the most important and this is the most real strategy. You can of course lease but it remains at a lot of risk, because the demand for Bitcoin is currently huge so the possibility of something different happening to you may be high.
So it is best for you to be careful, if you buy Bitcoin by maintaining a regular purchase sequence then you will be able to achieve more results or benefits in the future. So it is best for you to be deprived of leasing, keep yourself safe in your relationship You can achieve huge benefits from Bitcoin in the future by holding Bitcoin for a long time.

Depending on where or who you are talking to about leasing, there should be some that is going to allowed that, Bitcoin is already recognized as an asset, Do you mean you want the Bitcoin as your collateral or something?

Because as far as I know Bitcoin can already be used as a collateral since it is already considering in many countries as a digital currency for sure someone is going to accept Bitcoin as a collateral, probably not some established companies since they probably only allowed traditional payments like cash and banks at the moment, but for sure we will get to the point soon when Bitcoin is already established on that country. It is already starting to be on a lot of stores and for sure in the future it is going to be like banks or cash as a option.

Also there might be some issues on how because it's your wallet or something how don't know how it's going to work, are they going to get your seed phrase something like that? which I think was not a good thing.

This is already there, but with different name, Bitcoin backed lending. Ledn alone gave out $1.4 billion in loans backed by BTC in 2025, with the entire market reaching $73.6 billion in loans unpaid by the end of last year. Source

It is just like renting home in the same way. You give BTC as security, borrow cash at 30-70% loan to value, keep Bitcoin ownership and pay interest. Staking BTC directly on Babylon is also now available, which is closer to what Solana staking does, to protect other networks and earn returns without wrapping.

Bitcoin, of course, cannot directly stake like proof of stake coins, because it is proof of work coin, so all returns must be made through these lending or security layers.

Regarding the "lease" matter, I think that although there are some ways to earn from bitcoin, it is not correct to directly call them "lease". Lending, Earn, or other (BTC)-based services do not have the same rules and risks because the matter of bitcoin is completely different. However, before going with any method, the most important thing is who will have control of your (BTC).

The wrong objective is that if, for extra income, the security or control of your own (BTC) comes under risk then it should also be considered how valuable that small profit really is. So, if you do not understand the risks properly, then keeping (BTC) in self-custody seems to be a relatively simple and safer decision.

Technically Bitcoin shouldn't be staking due to its Proof-of-Work nature, but some exchanges offer staking and earn opportunities to earn interest on Bitcoin. This raises the question of why Bitcoin should be compared to other assets, as you mentioned. Isn't holding Bitcoin long-term far more profitable than renting it? There are risks involved which can significantly impact our staking and earn activities and for me personally it's not very profitable in terms of APY/Interest under certain circumstances.

Everyone's perspective on this issue may vary, but I personally prefer a long-term, independent storage scheme to generate substantial returns rather than using the staking and earn features on some exchanges. There is a lot of satisfaction in this because storing bitcoin independently will improve financial quality for the better and can also affect the level of consistency in investing.

It's very possible with wrapped Bitcoin and some other SBTC like platforms, if you don't get what I am talking about it's about those Bitcoin DeFi platforms, it's not just safe in my opinion.

It's better to keep holding your Bitcoin instead of trying to find where to put them to make some money back, I remember that Binance exchange has such offers too but it's freaking too risky.

If making some income monthly is your thing, it's better to go after other coins rather than trying to use Bitcoin, Ethereum is a good option, or even BNB, you can buy some and stake them for monthly income.

If there is indeed ready with the worst possibility when storing all bitcoin assets owned on centralized exchanges it could be done because bitcoin can still be at stake on several exchanges with daily returns that we will get as a profit but what needs to be considered here is the essence of what we do whether in the end the profit is worth the risk that we will get.

We will get daily rewards from staking but on the one hand we indirectly surrender all the bitcoins we have to a centralized exchange which in the end could be this will have a big risk without us realizing it.
The answer can be for me but for the risk it depends on the readiness and I personally prefer to keep it rather than forcing to let our bitcoin in rent.

We know the risks, and it's better not to suggest anyone do it. I actually see OP as someone who is impatient with their Bitcoin holdings, which might not be yielding good profits yet. So instead of just waiting, they’re thinking about how to still make some gains while waiting for their investment plan to materialize. I’d rather suggest trading, but maybe they wouldn’t be interested in risking the Bitcoin they have.

It is in the form of patience and holders.  If you call the price of Bitcoin falling dangerous, it is not right because the price falling is an opportunity for investors to invest and if the price keeps going up, that is not the way of Bitcoin.  They want to keep their Bitcoin with them but they want to give that Bitcoin to someone and take profit from it and when the price of Bitcoin goes up, they take profit from it.  This is not good for them at all because Bitcoin will not go up like this because many things have affected Bitcoin which gives Bitcoin enough time to recover.  Even if they do trade, they will probably not think about it while putting the price of Bitcoin in loss because how can they make a loss in trading if they do not have the patience to hold it.

As we take the bitcoin like any object we have. For example houses or cars , etc..
There is just one nuance: bitcoin is not part of the material world and this asset is structured in such a way that, in principle, it is impossible to own it, since the whole essence of “owning” bitcoin comes down to the right of ownership (proof of).

Can we lease it? Can I lease my bitcoin and get money back on it?
By storing your bitcoin on the exchange, you're essentially leasing it. But without receiving payment for it. Smiley

In other alt coins like solana, we can stake it.
Want to stake? Fine. Swap your Bitcoin for Solana (or any other altcoin) and stake. What's the problem?

So why can't we invent some technique to be capable of bitcoin leasing?
This "technology" already exists in traditional markets under the name "bitcoin ETF". Smiley Buyers receive a "receipt for the right to bitcoin", for which they pay money. In other words, the seller leases bitcoin, without actually delivering it, only the "promise" of it. Smiley An elegant solution, right?

Who would be smart enough to lease a bitcoin when the main advantage of this asset is sole ownership.

I've never heard of anyone renting out Bitcoin, and I never imagined that someone would want to rent out their Bitcoin to someone else. But when it comes to earning, like on the major exchange Binance, I often see BTC being used for simple earnings and also for advanced earnings on that exchange with varying APRs. So, even though Bitcoin can't be staked like you see with other altcoins because it runs on a PoW system, you can still take advantage of what I mentioned on some exchanges or on the exchange I mentioned.
