One possible solution will be governments stepping in with affordable housing projects that target low and middle income earners. A fair increase in wages would also help people keep up with rent and mortgage costs. These days I see a lot of videos of quick and affordable houses on social media and a practical idea will be for the government or any individual with good resources to partner with private firms to build mobile or modular houses. These are cheaper, faster to set up and perfect for single people or young couples who don't need a big house. They can be placed on rented land or in designated housing zones. Housing does not have to be expensive. It is just about smart policies and creative solutions that put people first.

Furthermore, If the reason people move to big cities is just to look for better living opportunities, it is better to just rent first rather than buy because not everyone gets success from just trying 1 opportunity. Even some people who have successful careers outside their hometown for years don't own a permanent home in their career city.

What could be the possible solution?
It is not possible to fix this problem with just one solution. However the most important thing for me is to consider housing as a place to live and not just an investment asset.

Quote
As people continue to move to large cities in search of better opportunities, the demand for housing keeps growing.
Exactly, as long as good jobs and opportunities are limited to a few big cities, the pressure on housing will also increase there.  Building new houses alone will not solve all the problems, but rather it is necessary to increase employment opportunities in other cities and regions, then the pressure on people to move to big cities will be reduced to some extent.

You are right on that s many people see build house as investment rather than living residence to help people, because they want to make money as a house owner. Some policies makes it more difficult to handle as they pos them selfs as an agent inflating the price of house rent and getting about 50% of the total pack of the house and one still have to pay huge amount for the house as they are the ones who dictate to the house owner how much to collect fron the intending tenants, making life more difficult for people that expected.

House rental rates these days are definitely expensive that even the middle class renters also find it hard to sustain their monthly rentals. If they won't move out into smaller sizes, they can never experience an affordable rate, however their comfort and convenience will also be compromised.

The best solution I can think about this is to let the government increase the housing supply by building public housing so that those homeless and minimum wage earners will not worry anymore on where to find money to rent, and encourage developers and companies that are selling building materials to stick into limits and won't go overpricing, otherwise they will be fined once caught and get proper sanction.

Also, the government should also make sure to enforce rent caps and set realistic limits, not overpriced rents most especially for low-income people and even those middles class ones.

In many countries, house prices have risen far more than wages, making it increasingly difficult for ordinary people, particularly first-time buyers, to afford a home. As people continue to move to large cities in search of better opportunities, the demand for housing keeps growing. In addition, many investors buy properties not to live in, but to benefit from rising prices.

Owning a house in this day and age is something a lot of people will not be able to boost or, it's regrettable but the amount of money most workers earn is simply not enough to pay for their regular expenses talk more or adding having to pay for a house to it and that's why house ownership in the past generation is much higher than it is today, owning a house is just too expensive as it is that people become house owner more from inheritance then from buying their own property.

In areas that are swampy lots of money are being spent to fill the the land even before the building starts and when it's eventually completed you cannot expect it to be at a low price. If the government prioritizes fixing roads and lands or improving them people would not have to use their money and this would be out of the way. A lot of houses are unaffordable due to this reason.

For the most part I think that main reason why houses are unaffordable is due to the fact that that the economy is bad. I don't know about other countries but for mine this is mostly caused by inflation.

House owners went through a lot of stress to own what they have currently that's why they have strict rules and rates that are mostly unaffordable.

Though that's right but house owners should also be considerate and know that to secure a stable income it's not that easy, if were possible, everyone would  relocate with their homes because it's frustrating how some house owners make people's lives stressful and for the fact that no one wants to be homeless, that is why most people indulge in illegal activities to ensure they avoid unnecessary pressure from their house owners. To be honest, house owners are even contributing to making life more difficult for one to live.

Expansion by the government on housing plan and Development concentration, when there is a large number of rural urban migration, the statistics can be used to figure out how exactly they can move the population to different location for better housing and then it directly changes the housing price of that city but when this is not regulated it becomes so difficult for people to get houses at cheap and affordable prices. This housing issues in urban areas is a global problem, every city is facing demand in housing but their is space for expansion yet nobody wants to do the expansion.

It is already a thing here in real estate and I think there was nothing we can do with the increasing market price because that Is just the nature kf real estates, as time goes by market price is just gonna continue to increase, I mean it's a good thing for people that is already invested on the asset but for people that is just wanting to buy a home it's a huge price to pay.

Recently, I just got married and I did a lot of research about real estates in my area, it just cost a lot of money and prices are just increasing yearly, I do some analysis if it's a good thing to buy already buy it was't something that I can afford yet. I also try some of the rent to own thing, but location wise it it was not great, plus your paying x3 of the price.

Most residents resort into renting first, while they continue saving up for their target homes. But the problem is, monthly rental is also expensive, that it will be hard to save after renting. Unless if you have a good business, high paying job, or have gained some inheritance, buying a house will remain too difficult to achieve.

However, if only the government will set limits to rising prices of construction materials, and control the market price, then we can ensure that buying a house will never be that too difficult, and anyone who wish to buy or acquire a new house, they can easily save up for it as long as they have sustainable income.

In addition, the government can also maximize securing housing loans with affordable price especially in city areas because that's where most of the people would want to move in to gain better opportunities in life and greener pasture.

Because of growing demand of house buyers and investors, and less supply of available homes, houses become very expensive that it would be too impossible for low-income brackets, even those middle class earners to buy a house and secure their own. Not to mention the high rising prices of building materials that are also heavily affected by inflation, not surprising why houses are sold unaffordable to almost everyone.

The only solution I can think is to allow the government to provide housing loan assistance with low interest so that those who have low income can still avail and have a home of their own. This is currently happening already but most of the location is not in the heart of the city, and if ever there are available houses, prices are very expensive. So the government should see it to that houses built within the city that are government project should remain affordable for everyone, and each owner should also have a limited target house property so that other aspirant future home owners will still have chances to avail.

Don't buy through a real estate agent. In my area, the original owners offer their properties on the marketplace at a reasonable price.

It’s sounds achievable but it can’t work. Why I said so? The real owners of property are hardly seen, because some of them are very rich or either wealthy and your chance of meeting them to have a deal directly from them is somehow impossible. The middle men or let’s say agents are the main cause of the higher prices, because they want to get more money for them selves, which if the real owner can give them a price and give them the amount they are going to add for them selves it might be even better.

Quote
Furthermore, If the reason people move to big cities is just to look for better living opportunities, it is better to just rent first rather than buy because not everyone gets success from just trying 1 opportunity. Even some people who have successful careers outside their hometown for years don't own a permanent home in their career city.

Renting is always better, most expecially if you are coming to a new city for a better opportunity, you will be more free than when you buying or owning a house for yourself. A great man even said “stay in an Airbnb or even a hotel” (because you will not have to buy any stuff to furnish the house). Am 100% agreeing with that type of settlement, but when staying a long time it’s cost you more.

It's actually true, the thing is that inflation and high cost of living is the primary cause of it. Price keep skyrocketing and never goes down, and the government are doing nothing about it. The problem is that many people are capitalizing on this economic hardship and making profit from it and making things more difficult for a common man. There are many landlord that build their apartment when price was low and now the are raising the prices of their rent to meet up the current house, as if those old house has anything to do with the current price of building material now. People who produces food sell it cheap to buyers and this buyers export it and increase the Price as they wish. I think price control and regulation by government will help stabilize the economy, but I guess government is benefitting from it that's why they don't bother regulating how things get expensive and vnever fall.

I went to the housing program agency named PAG-IBIG in my country. Houses are pre-occupied and you have to deal with the squatters on the houses if they are there. Hard to find a house that's unoccupied in a good location because most likely other investors are taking those foreclosed properties. They're not cheap but they're affordable but you're going to make the term depending on how relaxed it is for you. Most of the members here are taking the 30-year route of payment. I can't do that, I don't want to live paying that for 30-years thinking of it monthly. So yeah, it becomes unaffordable and minimum wage earners have to deal with it, the better option is to rent.

If there was a solution to the problem, then the issue of housing inaccessibility would not have arisen. Sooner or later, the problem will be resolved through a drop in demand, which will not even be possible to support with a mortgage. In other words, the housing affordability crisis will stop with a decrease in the population.

Or it will happen due to the aging and extinction of the population due to over-developed medicine that prolongs life in retirement (providing at the expense of workers), as well as due to the refusal of young people to procreate due to lack of prospects. Either this will happen as a result of regional wars or even a world war, which will also cause a decrease in the population as a whole.

A possible solution is to seek additional sources of income, as individuals should not rely solely on a single source of income. This is certainly not easy for ordinary people or the lower middle class, as their income is usually only sufficient for daily living. Furthermore, we also see that building materials have also increased due to rising transportation and production costs, making finding a more appropriate solution quite difficult. But every ordinary person whose income is not too high can still get around this by trying to buy building materials for the house slowly before they start building their house from the ground up because if they buy a house that is ready to live in, the price is obviously very expensive, especially if the house is located very close to the city.

Honestly, I would point to supply and demand to blame for the rise in housing expenses... the problem is that everyone wants areas that have all the luxurious amenities such as the gyms, sports facilities, malls , clubs you name it... and what this does is that competition for  good accommodation just pushes price up as demand continues to rise and the only way to afford decent housing is to avoid these luxury locations and you will be okay, otherwise if you want something that checks all your boxes be ready to pay a premium  Grin

Its also worth bearing in mind that everyone who owns a house wants, expects and demands
that it continuously rises in value.

There will always be prestigious locations and not so desirable locations, that wont change.

Its really up to a government to try and provide affordable accommodation to those in need,
I think in mose countries housing is a very hot topic but governments are slow to catch up
with the demand.

•What could be the possible solution?
The cost of living would always be a problem when expenses exceeds income so the basic solution would be to improve income at every given opportunity to elevate one's standard of living. The government of a country also has a role to play in this system that would make the lives of people easier but some government are fixed on selfish desires over the needs of the people.

There could also be a way that the government could help by providing free shelters for homeless people until they find their footing and also hosting programmes that would benefit the homeless and provide job opportunities to sustain their livelihood.

This isn't just a one nation problem but it's affecting every part of the world and I think what's causing this is that people are migrating to one part of their country and it's affecting the pricing of everything in that particular location. Other parts of the country aren't experiencing this and if people begin to restructure where modern facilities are located then people wouldn't be forced to reside in certain places instead every part of the country will have infrastructure to support people living there. People need to move to the less congested places and look for jobs there so they can afford living and expenses instead of staying where they can't afford.

Real issue is on supply side, and no one wants to politically deal with it.  Investor buying is bad mark that it does not deserve. So maybe 3-5% of single family homes are owned by big company investors in most markets, which is not as much as story would have you believe. Local opposition and limiting building permits do much more harm.

Singapore is likely the closest match of working model, where government builds and owns large part of housing, and prices are linked to income, not guessing price changes. Not politically possible everywhere but results speak for themselves. Truth is there is no quick fix. It takes years to develop supply, political will to rezone is almost non-existent, and as long as housing is seen as investment tool, any other measure you take pushes prices up.
