Is mining the altcoins under bitcoin done at the same time as one mines bitcoin?  Is that a miner side tweak in one's ASIC, or is that done at the pool interface?
BTW, the wallet at http://devcoin.org/devcoin-wallet.html is a broken link right now.
It's done at the same time from the pool side using merge mining. Currently though merge mining is disabled so only bitcoins are actually being mined due to technical issues that are being worked on. Namecoins are still be awarded through pool reserves so if you include a namecoin address on your account you'll get those.

At the time I signed up, I only had the BTC address.  Now I have a Devcoin one and am compiling the Namecoin wallet to get one.  But, when I'm at the registration screen if I just enter an altcoin address it says I need a BTC one.  If I enter them both with user name it says that name exists. Is there a way to take on some altcoin addresses if you already are registered with only a BTC one?

This seems to be the only decent merge mining pool I have found. Is merge mining still disabled as mentioned in the 1st post?

Mine at Jonny's Pool

According to mmpool, there is no merge mining currently.  NMC is paid out based upon pool reserves - not minting new NMC blocks.

Unless that's been updated, and I missed the post... will let mmpool provide the corrections if I'm wrong Smiley

MOD EDIT: Link to unrelated pool removed.

Your link does not work for me and it is bad form to publicize another pool in mmpool's pool thread.
PM the user if you think the merged uno mining is to their advantage.
Open blatant attempts to lure user's away are bad PR moves.

Look to Johny's behaviour as an example. He uses his sig to advertise and always attempts to help people with any issue. Not a post to get people to his pool, but helps with ANY issue if possible.
Make posts with positive comments which are knowledgable. Show your pool NFO in your sig. If you are sincerely helping others they will look at what you are selling. Again, the UNO comment should have been a PM, IMHO. It was helping the user find something similar to what he wanted, but what he really wanted is UNO here on MMPool. UNO is a great coin and again IMHO any pool who is merge mining should be giving their users UNO. Seems like a simple decision to me, but I am not a pool operator with experience in setting up and merge mining UNO from the operator perspective. Maybe it is a huge PITA to merge mine.
Either way I firmly believe IF the pool is already merge mining UNO is a coin which should be on the list.

Good luck with your pool.

Transaction fees go to the pools and the pools decide to pay them to the miners. Anything else, including off-chain solutions are stealing and not the way Bitcoin was intended to function.
Make the block size set by the pool. Pool = miners and they get the choice.

As I mentioned I will no longer being discussing the aforementioned topic outside of a PM just to be respectful of mmpool and this being their pool thread.

On another note, I used to throw a little hash at mmpool. At the time there was an almost constant rash of Denial attacks. It appears that things calmed down and the script kiddies have moved on to harass others.
Does anyone know if there was a resolution / agreement to make a payment or if the pool simply fought and never paid a dime?

It is a tough situation for a pool owner. If you pay them how do you know they won't ba back tomorrow wanting more coin?
If you do not pay them, how long do they play the cat and mouse games with your servers until they give up and move on?

I am especially interested in MMPool's situation and the outcome. However, I completely understand if there are reasons where MMPool leadership refuse to discuss these things.
IF possible I think it is or would be great to hear how it was handled in detail versus the posts about it in the thread.

We ignored the requests to pay. We changed hosts and restructured so our public interface is an easily changed proxy hiding the actual host we are using to protect them from the effects of the ddos. I'm sure there will be future DDoS attempts but our policy is not to pay. Regular users can get their own IP address to mine on and the tor onion service is an option as a backup.

Hi, been mining to the pool on and off and had over the payout of .005 for DGM Estimated Round Payout, but I noticed it went down to .00499.  Can it go back up by itself without me mining or will it just keep doing down?

It will shrink but with the low hash rate it shrinks slowly.

Or you can mine a bit and it will climb back up.
