Thanks, mmpool!  Glad we hit a block with under 50th. Is the extortionist taken care of?  Pool update?

I have decided to give a trust rating to you.  I was paid over 3btc for this block and you handled the ddos attack well. Thanks.

Your trust below:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=308507

I actually think  anyone he paid off of this block should consider giving him a trust.
Just think if he said I can't stop the attack. Or said he was paying the guy off.  With funds from the next block.
Instead  he came up with a work around and we soon reached that block.

 Thanks again.

Great way to wake up on a Sunday! I was just going to check my hash rate and bam we found a block. Thank you so much mmpool. Although I didn't have as much BTC at stake as Philipma1957 I too was worried when the DDOS happened. I shall take the advice of Philipma and leave trust, thats the least I could do, and so should anyone else who was in the pool at the time. Thanks again mmpool, keeping all I got pointed your way, and when the new gear comes in i'll add that as well.

Thanks for the trust and kind words everyone!  I haven't heard from the extortionist so hopefully they've gone away. I'll be getting the pool going on port 80 again in the next 24 hours or so and then everything should be back to normal.

I loved mining at this pool, but the long blocks have become a killer for anyone who hopes to ROI.

The amount of time it takes for blocks to be found in the long rounds are balanced by shorter rounds. It makes no difference to your ROI whatsoever. Earnings are averaged and your mining method is only relevant to how long you are willing to wait for payments not the amount that you will earn.

this is pretty much true. luck levels out .

the risk to this pool was shown by that ddos shit head.

If he had been able to lock the pool down hard I was running at a 3.3 btc level more then 1k in payouts. I was pointing about 9th here.

I am now rotating hashrate since I don't want to sweat some a-hole locking me into a corner.  I now have 8 or 9 th mixed around 4 or 5 pools.

I am look to put in 2 more units of s-3's this thursday they will point here.

If mmpool can verify that the ddos vulnerability has been mitigated, I think it should be safer than before to mine here.

well, that may be correct, however... as the attack did no damage, either to miners stats or credit earnings, I've got no problems, even if it were to happen again, i'm quite happy mining over Tor. it's no big deal, and whoever thinks that they can get away with picking on little pools... ought to go try attacking something more worthwhile. If it happens again, i'm still not budging, lest, it be onto the Tor proxy
