This is a funny question, in this our wicked country Nigeria where the government only think about how to get there own money to enrich themselves, even the monthly payment it is very difficult for them to pay workers early, talk more of paying them weekly which will be so heavy on them. I don't think any government can implement such law or even make an attampt to it. This workers deserves a better treatment, even more than weekly payment how the been the government is doing their work properly. I will advise the government workers, that they should have order altanative like source of income to support their selves.

A lot of people are saying that paying workers weekly will not change anything but if we think it critically, OP is making sense because a lot of government workers run into debt before their salary comes by the end of the month so if they are paid weekly, it will help them to manage their finances in the sense that they won't go above their weekly payment. Most countries are paying their workers on weekly basis, it won't be bad if the Nigerian government also emulate such payment system because it Will lower workers expectation and help them not to enter into unnecessary debts.

Oboi, if government talk say him go begin they pay its workers weekly salary, everywhere go good no be small. And make them also use the same minimum wage as now for the weekly salary pay and not change it. People will begin to hunt government jobs and finally we will have what they call liberation in the civil service which is currently at its lowest levels if not for the increase in the minimum wages. But let’s also not forget something, I know once this is implemented the next thing will be tax. The taxes will skyrocket because the government will have more reasons to collect more but we still

It would be worse than from "hand to mouth" if the government is paying their workers weekly, it will become from "hand to stomach" straight...lol Grin

Weekly payment would always have its good and bad part, and I tell you, the good part could be more illusionary than you think, except the money is big enough. But I tell you, our selfish government would not do that and raise the payment. They would rather cut it into 4 equal parts and distribute it weekly.

Now, the worse part is that most people do not have the saving habit, as they "eat with their both hands." They might not achieve enough plans with the money if care is not taken.

I don't understand how making weekly payments will prompt payment of more taxes, or maybe you can explain to me what you meant by that. If payments are made weekly, it still same amount they receive monthly which will be divided into 4 since 4 weeks make up one month. Except maybe their salary get increased but still it doesn't warrant a high taxation. Civil servants earn very little, though it depends on the level but still their taxes should be moderate. If the government implements weekly payments, it will only ease the living standards of those government workers a bit because they will always have money to sort out their daily needs unlike the way most of them do run into debts before their salary is paid monthly.

Furthermore,I believe OP was only expressing what he think if implemented will make the lives of civil servants better but despite this,it wouldn't be enough to satisfy their needs. Human needs are endless, so even if the government agrees to start paying civil servants N1million Naira each monthly, people will still complaints for more.
I totally disagree with you on what you just said above regarding even if Federal government pays civil servant #1million per month that they will still complain about it. Because to be honestly speaking, inasmuch as government don't cause a drastic inflation that will affect the price of food items, and everything remains the way it is today and then they start paying civil servants #1million per month. I assure you that our civil servants will never complain about this till the next 10years. Because imagine a person who was getting 100k and suddenly starts to receiving 1million, Omo, I swear that money go really go a long way for such individual, and likewise boast their morale to even work wella. So for me, I will say make una forget about that weekly payment, because if our government can only pay our civil servants wella, and create enough jobs, the country will be much better than it is today.
