Yeah, I also see memecoin trading like gambling. You just have to hope you bet on the right token. People who have the most money win more because they can bet on more coins, but I don't think it's wrong for people to invest in them if they know what they are actually going into. I mean, if they know that what they're going into is gambling and based on luck, and they do it responsibly, then I don't see anything wrong in it. They should also not see it as a get-rich-quick scheme.
Once you have claimed trading memecoins is more like gambling, you also need to apply the same perpective in its investment. Both trading and investing are doing the same way, it is buying the memecoins.  Wink

By the way, I think the memecoins is still quite risky although people have good understanding about them. We know memecoins are too difficult to predict. And even many of them can suddenly become dead coins because the developers or the teams disappear or leaving the memecoin projects. So, I personally prefer to stay away from memecoins because I think there are many other coins that more deserve to get our attention.

If people can gambling on casinos and on sports, then I don't see a problem in gambling on memes as long as you're aware that what you're doing is gambling.
I think both are different. In gambling, it is clear relying on the luck factor. Meanwhile in crypto, it is basically not relying on the luck. People who want to try their luck only, it is better to focus on the gambling or casinos.

No, they are pretty much only a money sink.
Nothing of value is provided upfront, and the concept of "memecoins" is in a lot of ways dead.

"Back in the good old days", memecoins were launched because an event happened, which became an "Inside joke" for a big group of people.
Then someone from that big group of people made a coin, usually made sure distribution was somewhat fair, and then made sure to ride the meme wave as long as it stayed alive.

Now... These groups don't exist anymore.. If a world event happens, then you have 100 bots ready to deploy a token on all chains available with the only purpose of taking as much money from you as possible.

I miss "The good old days".. Not that there werent scams and people werent idiots..
But back then, it was just so much easier for everyone involved to find a common interest and see a natural "memecoin" grow and live as long as the joke itself lasted.

Im starting to sound like the old guy yelling at the clouds.. Shit

It's very unfortunate that despite so much data available that is enough to tell us the risky nature of memecoins, people are still investing in memecoins with intention of becoming rich instantly.
People having interest in meme coins don’t care about the risk, I believe most of them knows about the risk, they just decide to ignore the risk involved in it, all what they are after is just high profits that they are going to make. Some of them do say bitcoin price is already too high, and they can’t be fucking rich with bitcoin investment any longer, they prefer to invest in meme coins which they believe it’s going to pump within a very short period of time, and it’s going to make them rich. They believe crypto space is a Ponzi scheme where you can make instant profits.

If you want to make money in crypto space, then you have to be calm, you have to follow proper procedure, you don’t have to be so desperate to make money, because if you are desperate, you might end up losing everything you having instead of you making money.

I’d like to know, do you think investing in memecoins early on is always profitable? Or do you think history will repeat itself just like with some memecoins on other networks?
The majority of people only know a memecoin when she already is booming and the price rising fast. Almost nobody catch in the beginning, when still is cheap. When you discover, she generally already valued alot. The problem is that, after that alot of people enter, the majority of these memecoins starts to fall strong and rarely returns near of the highest price. This is the history of the bigger part of them.

Some people are trying to invest in the memecoins before they are listed in exchanges. People bought the memecoins before they are well known by the public. Unfortunately, many of the memecoins are also not growing well and most of them just become dead memecoins. So, there is no certain way to ensure for earning profits from memecoins. Whatever the approach, the failure is still very possible. If we want to ensure the bigger chance for profits, it is better to choose most recommended coins like Bitcoin or top altcoins.

Well, it is always very bad idea that we buy coins after they are hype. Most people probably have sold and taken profits because the prices are increasing high at that time. I personally will never consider to buy new coins if they have been hype and the prices seem starting to decline gradually. It indicates that the big investors begin to take profits and they are leaving the projects.

As kawetsriyanto mentioned, some people take a gamble by buying meme coins before they are listed on exchanges. I recall friends of mine purchasing meme coins on platforms like PancakeSwap and Uniswap. Some of them hit the jackpot, acquiring coins that skyrocketed in value by thousands of percent after hitting major exchanges. However, I never recommend buying meme coins—whether before or after listing—because the odds of finding a "diamond" in the meme coin market are slim; perhaps only one in a hundred, or even one in a thousand, succeeds. Personally, I don't consider meme coins truly profitable investments. While they could once serve as a vehicle for quick gains in short-term trading, that was largely a thing of the past. Nowadays, I believe it is nearly impossible to replicate the success stories of coins like Doge, Shiba, Pepe, or Bonk.

Bitcoin no doubt has given huge profit to its early investors, who bought Bitcoin when its price was very low and held it for next 10 to 15 years. Now if Bitcoin can't give that return anymore to people who are investing now then forget that rest of coins in crypto market can give even any adequate profit to investors. There is no cure of greed and people who are investing in memecoins with intention of getting rich like early investors of Bitcoin will only lose their money.

If you have made up you mind of investing in memecoins then make sure you invest only few buck that even if you lose won’t make any difference to you.

Investing in memecoins is not bad for someone who understands the risk and can tolerate it all. Memecoins are often short term investments, those who are interested shouldn't have their hopes high on an investment that isn't guaranteed on returns, play the short game, accept the losses or profits if they come and make sure life continues abruptly if the investments crashes.

I don't see meme coins as investment, there is no single meme coin on the market that has a road map, they don't have anything. I don't know how people are so bullish on meme coins, they don't have any value. Some people compare it with Bitcoin forging that this coins are launched on other chain and if those chains doesn't exist, that means all the coin will die. For your sanity, avoid meme coins.

The chain might be new, but if that coin has already made big gains, are you really getting in early? I’d be more interested in why people would keep buying it once the launch hype dies down.

That is the key distinction: a new chain does not automatically mean an early entry, and survivorship bias hides how many launches simply fade after the first burst. I keep a fixed checklist for liquidity, distribution and unlocks, and ignore Telegram FOMO. TokenKickstarter is one place I have looked while mapping the early landscape, but I still verify the contract and token data myself. DYOR.

It is still a kind of investment although it is very high risk. Sure, mostly have no clear roadmap because memecoins are actually just fun coins. That's why we can't expect much for its future.

People are influenced by the story of some people who got huge money from memecoins. Those memecoin armies who may spread the sweet promises of huge profits in memecoins. Well, memecoins are incomparable with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is totally in a different level. Bitcoin is trustable asset, meanwhile memecoins is lack of trust due to its uncertainty.

For your sanity, avoid meme coins.
Agree. People who want to safer assets, they are better to avoid memecoins.

Not always. Being early can be a big advantage, but memecoins are extremely risky. Some can do 10x quickly, while others can lose most of their value just as fast. I think liquidity and real trading volume are more important than simply being early.

The thing about memecoins is that it's unpredictable. There's no real value being provided by memecoins and hence everyone are just going in for the hype.
Due to this there are sudden pumps and dumps that keeps happening with memecoins and so there's no point of doing technical analysis on them.
Whether it is profitable depends on what point you have entered the trade and how the coin has performed later on.
To keep it short, it's not always profitable, it depends a lot on the timing.

You know how dangerous meme coins looks, I have seen a dev rug $4 dollar buy. Like, a random person created a coin on pump fun and when somebody but, the dev rug the coin. You can imagine the level desperation of people that afr launching meme coins. You can be early and they are going to rug you and you can be late and they can still rug you. The only person that I think don't get rug in meme coin is if you are the person that launch the coin.

I don't think I have seen people that created meme coins complain about the coins, they are always the risk takers especially when they control the supply, they do their target with different address to make it less cluster and as the coin pumps, they dump gradually until they have made figures they can use for the expensive life they want to live. This is literally what everyone including influencers does with meme coins.

Investing in a memecoin early doesn't always means you can make profit from it. Early investors may have some advantage like better entry price but it doesn't save you from the price drops. Most of memecoins are useless trash, just create hype to to seek people attention and get disappeared once the token sale finished. A new chain Robinhood may create excitement currently and so everyone is looking for the next popular token but such thing doesn't guarantee a profit. Investing memecoin is highly risky where you should invest according to your limit only.

I also ever invested my money in some memecoins. I got profits in few memecoins, but most of them ended up with severe losses.  Cry
Your friends have chosen the right memecoins if they bought Doge and SHIB. It is good that they got huge profits. It means they sold the memecoins at the right time. I'm sure many other people who got losses in those memecoins because the sold at the wrong time.

Ultimately, however, I realized that meme coins aren't really investments. While they might be categorized as high-risk investments, I personally view them more as a form of gambling. I agree that it is more like gambling if we buy new memecoins or random memecoins. But if we buy top memecoins, it is quite similar as we invest in common altcoins. Sure, for the new memecoins, the luck factor takes a big role there. That's why many people call it as gambling. I am not interested anymore in new memecoins or random memecoins, they are too risky. Even if I want to buy a memecoin in the future, I may only buy a single top memecoin only.

No, early memecoins are not always profitable.  However, the largest profits margins made from memecoins are from those who get in and out early, not caught holding the bag.  When it comes to HODLing, this doesn't apply to memecoins unless you want to lose

No, early memecoins are not always profitable.  However, the largest profits margins made from memecoins are from those who get in and out early, not caught holding the bag.  When it comes to HODLing, this doesn't apply to memecoins unless you want to lose
Memecoins investment isn’t always perfect and good for long term holding only for short term and you are correct it always those who invest at the early stage and take profits early that enjoys more and stay far from losses and regrets but those with the mindset of holding for long and hoping maybe the price might go higher than that are just going to loss their money in memecoins.
Since from day one, I always see memecoins as a quick money coins in the market and they always profits those who invest during the early stages and take profits as soon as they make some and not just greedy and hoping on more increase in price.
