How can one be addicted to hope and not to gambling, but the same hope is for gambling to give him winnings?

In all honesty, I am not going to listen to what’s is on his t-shirt but I am going to watch his actions and behavior. By doing so I’d be able to tell if he is really “addicted to hope” if there’s anything as such or actually addicted to gambling. Behavioral exhibitions don’t lie.
Besides, addiction is use in the negative and it cannot be related to some as positive as “hope”.

What other behavioral patterns will you observe that shows a gambler is addicted to hope if he is not addicted to gambling, if I may ask you. We all know how bettors behave when they are already addicted to gambling, that is not hidden for sure, but it's rare, or I can say, we don't know what it means to be addicted to hope.

   I dont agree gambling is about hope always, depends on the player and how casual they are.   You can be too reliant on hope and not thinking which is a mistake unless you accept its purely for fun and you dont care on the result especially as you are just there to socialise or whatever.

Hope itself is not really the addiction. But the belief that a slot machine will bring that hope to life is the issue. At the end of the day, if one doesn't face reality and start doing healthy things that hope can fuel and bring in fulfillment - and place that same hope on a slot machine or gambling, then that hope stop being an healthy hope. Seems this is just a joke there are some shirts with some funny write up I am sure he did not even take this write up as personal as it appears here but from the setting he is actually in a casino house, maybe he got that shirt because of the write up he might be a gambling fan sort of addicted to the game but denying, at times people actually expose themselves without knowing they did that, a person can not be addicted to hope rather hope helps to maintain that drive for something, a believing that things turns out just as expected so it can only be felt but a person can not get addicted to it like gambling and other things that are satisfying with some physical benefits.

Sure, hoping to win always results in losses, but the moment you lose a lot of money, you become confident that you can use the remaining cash to continue playing. That is the guy's reason to justify why he is gambling, because the fact is there is no hope in gambling; you will just end up broke. I never use hope in gambling; I just let things happen because it's a game of uncertainty.

If any gambler can go the length of having a customized T-Shirt with these writings, I’m sure he’s being considering gambling to be a problem and have had people around him tell him the same. Actually, there’s nothing wrong with being addicted to hope, but everything is wrong with being hopeful for something that’s unrealistic. Hoping to become rich or win some huge amount, recover one’s losses and become financially free via gambling is completely unrealistic, and being hopeful with something as unrealistic as this can only fetch you nothing but frustration and disappointment, and would only lead you to go back and harder even after several losses which is still very harmful.

Addicted to hope is thesame thing as addicted to Gambling, that is just another way to excape the name "gambling addict" there is no single different, both are same because that false hope is what drive people into addiction. He just stated the reason why people get addicted and forgetting that the reason and the results are synonymous. Don't mind that man on the T-shirt, he's trying to drive different narrative probably to protect his personality because it's a big mess for some person being known to be suffering gambling addiction.
Whether he likes it or not, his expectations to win is from gambling games, so on he's addicted to gambling.
Otherwise, he may be signifying he's addiction to winning as someone who's fond of playing to win which is still gambling.

There are 3 types of hope, realistic hope, false or magical hope, and transcendent hope. Now that person is obviously talking about false or magical hope that he can win through gambling with luck and favorable chances, but the problem is not all gamblers can be lucky and make significant profits, some just remain hopeful but not winning anyway. And this kind of hope can seriously lead to gambling addiction especially if its not managed well.

Or let's say, saying addicted to hope is one way of being in denial of gambling addiction. You don't agree that you're an addict, but you're willing to stay hopeful all throughout your gambling journey even if you're already losing a lot. Now that's stupidity.

In my view, a person who is addicted to gambling is someone who keeps gambling regardless of whether they actually need to make money or not... they may not even need money, but they simply can not stop the habit to place bets every day. Do you see what I mean? They are not gambling to change their life, they are gambling because it has become a habit they can no longer break.

On the other hand, someone who is aware of the risks and gambles responsibly, with the goal of making money to improve their life, might find that slogan in the t-shirt more meaningful.
Even so, I still think that if someone hopes to change their life, there are much better ways to invest their money and build a better future.

Anyway, I hope I've managed to explain why I see those as two different things.
