As of about a half hour ago they switched it back.
I don't particularly care to help any 110 pusher-- but there were presumably miners on the default that had little idea any of this stuff was going on, and had no idea they were burning money.
Same reason for arguing with the 110 pushers in the first place or BSVers... to help people not get suckered by charlatans.
Edit: They're now compensating miners for losses
