Earthquake hit Colombia

This is a bad news, earthquakes makes people who are where it is happening vulnerable, I'm sure that in those last moments they will see their ends coming and there is nothing they can do about it, also watching loved ones in helpless situations must be one of the worst experiences. I guess we cannot question God for allowing these natural disasters to happen, if an area have a history of earthquakes people who are living in such areas should be aware that their inhabitate is prone to earthquake or any other natural disasters. I sympathize with the families and friends of the lost loved ones and I hope that those that are alive and still trapped in rubbles would get help before it is too late for them to survive. I wish that there would be technology that can determine on a short signal when an earthquake would happen so that people will evacuate such places before it happens to avoid being casualties.

Just like you said earthquakes are natural so even if they no what is causing it or why is happening they will not be able to stop it from occurring because if it was possible a country that lost many people from their first experience will never allow it it to destroy again, however based on different scientists that studies all the natural disasters we have but I think Seismologists are the scientists who focus on earthquake and still they wouldn't no when an earthquake will happen so actually there are nature that is above human understanding even if there are many technology in the world.

Natural occurrences are not man made,  I think seismologists can be only predict areas earthquakes might possibly take place but preventing it, is not possible, with they information they have due to their observations, they can pre inform people residing in those areas to move out before it happens, the word natural disaster explains all this, no human has the ability to stop earthquakes.
As it is, what next,  I just feel for the victims of this earthquakes,  each those that has lost their life to it, may God have mercy upon their soul, this is very unfortunate, what a painful death, taking about the technology, I do not think there is nothing of such when it has to do with earthquake.

The magnitude of that which happened in Venezuela was higher than that in Colombia which is why the disastrous rate was also higher because they shares common boundaries.

The number of people that died has increased to 181 people and about 2595 people have been injured. This is very low to the one that happened in Venezuela, but it is worth knowing that two earthquake happened in Venezuela and it was the second that was 7.5 magnitude. 7.4 magnitude earthquake is not something small also.

Earthquakes could be caused by three major factors.

1. Human activities
2. Tectonic plate movements
3. Volcanic activities.

The first one is caused by human activities such as mining and other forms of human distortion towards the Earth, while the second and third causes of earthquakes and natural phenomena are beyond human explanation; they cannot be prevented 100%, but there is a way to mitigate their effects on us whenever they take place.

I thought they have discovered what usually prevent earthquake from happening or a detector that usually alert people to move out immediately before an earthquake happens.
is it that they are use it or it does not work in all occasions or they are not using it in Colombia?

No one can stop earthquake from happening when it wants to start, but what any government that prioritises the safety of its people would do is to create plans for the region that will help reduce the impact of earthquake in subsequent times when the earthquake strikes again. Truth is, if it has happened before, it might likely happen again someday. The deaths were too much, such deaths should not be allowed to happen again in the history of  Colombia.

This is where the the government have to come up with rules to regulate human activities in such areas. They should look into the kinds of building structures erected in such regions. They will have to invest more in Seismologists who will study that region and help with raising awareness both orally and digitally, including setting up alarm systems that will alert the people once there is another threat

It's very risky to detect which building or structure would fall next after the main earthquake is over, presumably the increased number of injured people grew from the unexpected collapse of weak buildings.
