What's your take on this?
So many of these accounts on social medias just do what ever it takes a to farm engagement. Especially on places like X which pays really well for your engagements, influencer would most likely spread false news to secure their payments. It's just ridiculous because these kind of information are misleading and can make people be misinformed or make bad decisions on their gambling activities. But that's why it is good to as a gambler do proper research and avoid concluding on any random information for your games. Don't always be in a haste to believe everything you see online because most of them might be false information. Such accounts should be restricted if possible to stop them from spreading false information..

Ian Wright is fuming over false information linking Myles Lewis-Skelly to Chelsea and Manchester United. Arsenal has spoken about the rumor and has denied there was any link to the England clubs mentioned.
Fabrizio Romano hinted at a shift in his career after the transfer window. He made a statement saying he is not going to continue working in the transfer market for much longer. Thinking of something else after the transfer window.
It seems a bit premature to me to call Myles Lewis-Skelly Chelsea and Manchester United link completely fake information. I have seen few reports that Arsenal did indeed offer Lewis-Skelly to Manchester United as potential transfer option and Chelsea were also informed of his availability. Suppose, X club is interested in player Y Club X has contacted Arsenal Arsenal has made player Y available Arsenal has formally offered player Y Player Y is close to joining Club X Player Y has agreed personal terms Transfer is done These are actually completely different claims. If any journalist report one of the first few but that transfer does not happen in the end, then you can say that his report was a wrong prediction. But that does not make it deliberate fake news.

Furthermore, social media should restrict accounts known for misleading information. A temporary ban or permanent ban of the account for anyone found guilty of it.
What's your take on this?
This is not possible to do, how will social media know informations that are true or not, definitely not possible. We the viewers are the ones to detect if the information are False or misleading, then report. As individuals, it is always important we verify informations we see online, be sure it is coming from right sources to avoid it misleading anyone and I will just say some persons are just so gullible.

The manner in which those journalists spread misinformation is actually annoying, something have to be done to curb that. If this is finally the step for addressing misinformation, then it is a welcomed development. I can still remember how the media was on fire last season about Victor Osimhen transfer, with some spreading all manner of lies at no consequence. With this step, I'm sure that only verified information will be published. I still respect Fabrizio Romano whose information are authentic and never questionable.
There are multiple unverified sources on Twitter that spread false rumours mostly about top players under the limelight for the purpose of getting views and boosting their engagement, most of them are click bait with an attractive headline that would catch the eyes of viewers. During these saga between Arsenal and Vinicius Junior, a lot of misinformation went viral about Arsenal signing Vinicius and some other talking about Real Madrid losing interest in keeping him at the club. It's a pain that these pages constantly promote false reports without facing any query from the social media platform.

Social media commentary are the most fabricated among all sources of news, i still find it hard to believe that social media is needed in this current society as the fear they have created in the mind of people and the Many stereotype around various sectors.
This false informations is not only happening in the sport market, infact there have been fake new almost about everything, and this doesn't go well with the entire economy and general living environment.

This challenge isn't limited to sports; many are spreading misinformation to attract clicks. I see all sorts of things; I don't even click on them, and I agree that this type of content or tactic should be penalized, with account bans in case of repeated offenses. We the viewers are the ones to detect if the information are False or misleading, then report.
After a complaint is filed, it is up to the companies to verify and remove the content or not. Furthermore, companies like Google and Meta need to ensure the integrity of their platforms, given that they have very well-defined guidelines, and I believe they should be the first to follow them. As individuals, it is always important we verify informations we see online, be sure it is coming from right sources to avoid it misleading anyone and I will just say some persons are just so gullible.
You're right to say that we should always verify information; I do a lot of research before taking a news story or article seriously.

Solution: To curb this problem, I think the best thing is to arrest fake influencers and journalists spreading false information. Take them to court, and after that, fine them a huge amount so that others will learn.

Player transfers are always hot enough news for a headline and this will be very hunted, if a few years earlier about the rumors will only be a little because of the credibility that is still maintained but today everything is almost vying to provide entertainment in the form of news no matter whether it is right or wrong, the most important thing is their target to get views or engagement is exceeded. Not a few media that make the transfer of players as a spice to introduce the media widely and now the credibility does not seem too important because for them the advantage is the most important. Fabrizio has failed several times in rumours of a possible player making a choice but the interesting thing here is that instead of leaving he should stay and recover his name because the transfer of the player will still be identical to his name.

I firmly hold that the proliferation of misinformation and social media trying to attain audience by promoting fake news are so alarming. The shocking news heard about the exit of the star players are intentionally instituted to create an outrage and attention amongst the football players fans. Regrettably, the manager of digital platform are usually slow to take stringent actions against misinformed people who disseminate fake news. This lack of action will help to spread fake news without one being afraid of the offenders. Trying to achieve personal interest at the expense of the fabricated news is unhealthy to the readers that want to know the truth on the ground. Failure to regulate has made the Internet full of the pitfall of deceptive descriptions. App managers are needed to urgently improve the integrity of sports news.

Yes, disabling the account of any influencer that spread false information would really be a great punishment that will teach other influencer to verify information first before posting it, but since some social media platforms doesn't take account restrictions so serious in matters like that, that's why some of those influencers are consistently spreading false information. Yeah, I completely agree. major sports account and influencers sometime have huge audience. So the consequences of any post like that can be pretty serious. But I would still be careful about banning account for any false information. There are huge number of insider reports and rumor in sport that simply can not be confirmed 100% at the time they are published. Any journalist or influencer might get information from source they trust. Only to find out a few hour later that it was wrong. So in my opinion it is more important to look whether this kind of behavior is systematic or intentional.

You would not blame fake news peddlers for being so consistent with providing fake news when the fans and public thrive on such news for gossip and newspapers and social media gain more engagement and more money from it. The transfer window is a much discussed topic and it's entertainment of sort. If fans get to know that most transfer news are more speculative and a secret deal than an open one, perhaps they would trust only a few news broadcast from trusted sources and not dwell on such news until it is a done deal, and this would help reduce the rise of fake news channels on social media platforms and from questionable sources instead of placing bans on majority of accounts that deal on such.

The only time some social media blocks a user's account is if dozens of people have reported the account. The only social media that I know that took moderation of users activities very serious is Reddit, any slight violation, you are disabled from posting, although I don't know if they are still like that now. But these influencers have different account that they use to post click bait information for the purpose of monetizing their page. If you come across anyone, the best thing you can do is report the account.
This punishment is too severe. Preferably, engagement on the account should be restricted for a few days. Allowing the account owner to learn from the frequent fake information they post. X formerly known as Twitter, does take users activity seriously too. I remember when the war between Iran and Israel was heated, X restricted those fake AI videos of the war from circulating on their platform. If enough complain is raise againt fake accounts on sports news, X may do something about it.

Maybe Fabrizio has decided to quit being a journalist because recently he has been attacked for spreading false rumors.
well, after reading your whole thread, I automatically convey the impression that Fabrizio Romano has thinking about to leave his journalism in irritation due to the false rumors being filed. Is this really the issue? tbh, i have not found any evidence that he is thinking of leaving journalism for this reason. As far as I know about his carer, he may be considering such kind of decision due to his excessive workload in this section. There are also some news program where he talks about his screen time and personal life impact.

In as much as I would love to see this happen, I personally don't see anyone trying to enforce it. It seems a lot of us don't actually know why all the fake news are been shared. It goes a bit beyond just trying to get engagement or make money off such news. What these people are trying to do is to actually create a news that was never true, and make it true. What that means is, these influencers intentionally starts a news that is never true, and talk a lot about it with the hope that it becomes true. And that's why clubs might not necessarily sure interest in a particular player, but when they rumor starts flying, they end up doing so. I really feel sorry for Fabrizio at this point because a lot of them are trying to frustrate him, and even some go as far as trying to make him look stupid.

If we have to ban social media accounts for spreading lies then we have to ban 90% of the accounts on every platform because each one of them is pretending to live who they wish to be, and in this case they just used clickbait, which is not something strange in the media, right?
How about we stop believing in everything that we see on a random post without any official announcement from the player or team involved?
This could be hard to do if I may say because most of these casinos do promote their services through social handles and that alone we should know what it is. What I think should be is that people are meant to go for self awareness and proper orientation regarding on how they should be following up every single information they happened to be coming across social media since most of the things that are being shared over there could he false. When information is being shared on media they should be that eager to know the authenticity of that information before utilizing it or even believing on that information.

The internet is so wide to an extent that it cannot be regulated, everyone is trying to promote what he has both the good and the bad, this is where we must be very careful on what we see online and the way we develop interest on them, because not everything that glitters are gold, scam is all over the internet and the most ensure that what we see doesn't only penetrate attracting our eyes, and you should not also permit for greed, gambling is not the only means by which people can take advantage of the social media for anything they wanted to do.

You mean putting them in jail, because the I don’t think he was.. Detained doesn’t mean imprisoned and according to the source I added on the first page, he was really not long after. He was probably, questioned and released after the whole thing. What will work is having a registered source that handle the informations regarding that aspect and if anything should go wrong, they should be fined as a body. Or each club/ league should handle the disclosure of such information through a source or sources they control. On cases like this usual thing happened is those information they released will get questioned to get proper clarification. Also there are really times that information flow had really an issue. This is one of good reasons why league and clubs should be active releasing new updates so people following them could read more accurate information, then address fast those possible misinformation released by medias. This would truly help reducing those misinformation and it can reduce confusions happening. Actually its good idea to impose fines or penalties if there's media organization fail to produce an accurate news, since with this maybe they became more careful on the news they release and will continue state facts only.

Misinformation, disinformation, and other types of false news on the internet cannot be prevented. Which is why I agree with you. Most accounts post unverified false information which is then reposted, and the algorithm like the wind picks it up and makes it trend. How about we stop believing in everything that we see on a random post without any official announcement from the player or team involved?
This is the solution. In addition to this if we are up to it, we can even make a post about it to draw the attention of others to it.

He was probably, questioned and released after the whole thing. What will work is having a registered source that handle the informations regarding that aspect and if anything should go wrong, they should be fined as a body. Or each club/ league should handle the disclosure of such information through a source or sources they control. Do we think it is not easy to regulate the spread of fake news, social media is one of the fastest means that people use in disseminating information, but it is unfortunate that today you cannot take every option as you wanted to based on the propagate someone just information on different platforms, even the government cannot achieve having harmonized information sources, of which I don't seea anything bad except for the week orders will take advantage for abuse

Well, I mean... We live in an era in which clicks and attention can be turned into literal money. If those journalists are getting money for engagement instead of the quality of the content, then they will naturally sacrifice quality for sensationalism and get as much attention as possible from people, in order to get more money per post on social media.
About punishing those journalist and influencers, I would not know how that could work, since it would be seen as an attack against free speech and liberty of information. It would be very controversial for any government to do so effectively.

Lately I realized that almost all social media influencer now spreads rumors just to get engagement on their post and it turns out that the audience finds such content more interesting and they kept spreading rumors. The very way to address this spreading of rumors and dragging people in the Internet is by restrict any social account spreading any form of rumors or misinformation that will mislead people or pain bad imagine about others, and the surprising part is the fact that most of this influencer gets to the extent of dragging some top celebrity just for attention, also suing any influencer who comes out there to speak against another with false rumors.
