There's a story about a bribe in bitcoins. The recipient of this bribe held, no small feat, a rather high position - he was an investigator, someone who, in theory, should simply protect and safeguard people from crime.

Sounds like another cold case that was actually easy to uncover. Though I'm in no way supporting criminal activities, he might be one of the most careless people I've seen in a case like this. If he hadn't been caught so quickly or had his PC searched, I'm not sure he would have kept those coins safe for long. One thing that can seriously put your seed phrase at risk is storing it on an electronic device. These devices may seem harmless, but they can be hacked, infected with malware or viruses, damaged, or simply fail.That's why I don't understand why anyone would store their seed phrase in a folder on a laptop. If you're dealing with something as valuable as cryptocurrency, you should know better than to keep your keys in a place that can easily be compromised. I guess it was only a matter of time before things caught up with him. Eventually, every bad thing comes to an end.

So far I havent experiened yet someone import their seed phrase somewhere else and seems that boy is not yet knowledgable in crypto space like they are just starting and exploring in the long run so basically he is importing a wallet through his phone possible he is just newbie and wanted to try having crypto and we know that setting it up is one of the most common we deal with just the cons here is hes not totally aware yet on what he is doing for me basically i will ignore that yet now if he just ask a few questions is I will just help him, as an experienced for in the space guiding them is one of the most ideal way.

Actually, not only in Gen Z; people still commit mistakes, and we won't let that happen because it could be expensive. Just this generation wanted to explore and they really exposed in technology. In a good and in a bad way.

You're right. He seems just a newbie/beginner. If he is experienced enough, he must be aware of the risk of opening the private data in public area. Moreover there is cctv or camera around. And there is a stranger beside him. Also, he is a typical of careless people. Even if he is a newbie/beginner, he mustn't do it if he is a cautious person. Normal people must know the data of our asset is a private matter.

Reading stories like this and then seeing a post complaining why some gen Z seems to be tech illiterate is such a whiplash. Just another day I read a story about an IT-support guy who has to fix small little problems for his friends that can be fixed easily with one or two Google scroll. Stuff like changing taskbar icon, font-size, and whatnot. I guess there will always be exceptions. The question is how many exceptions exist out there. Especially related to crypto (which is probably closer to tech and IT too).

Based on the OP description, the guy in question doesn't seem to be a newbie but a  Gen Z believing that everyone else is ignorant of technology especially judging from the fact that the OP is not a Gen Z nor acted like he had knowledge of what he was doing. I'm assuming this based on the additional description of how flashy his car is and such description usually comes from a tech guy

Carelessness has cost many people their lifetime savings and it's still happening. We have to be very careful especially in that settings where there are cameras. If someone mistakenly revisits the day's recording, he will regret why he came to the hospital and the funny part is that he wouldn't suspect that he lost the seed phrase during his visit to the hospital.

Sure this generation is really exposed in tech and they're breaking out early into riches than our older parents who had lived on and worked hard all their life instead. Technology is good to have given him good life but if he continues with such mistakes of showing his seed phrase around on camera or strangers, he may loose every bit of his coins.

The reason why people sometimes are afraid is because of the things that is going on like scam, this is the number one reason some thinks its a big scam, when they heard crypto, regarding with the idea about it, they know it but sometimes they don't know where to start because they think you need money when you go into crypto they sometimes think you immediately need funs, also the lack of guidance to start.
While others are tech savvy but are really careless, just like what we are discussing, showing off in the community, but doing this is really dangerous you don't know who is standing or sitting next to you.

Many are unaware that the world is becoming digital each day , so a lot folks now have ideas about cryptocurrency even the basics ideas . Yes there where time many don’t know about all these ,even getting your hand on where to purchase crypto wasn’t as easy as it is now .

This can completely endanger any asset in that wallet at the moment , then later same folk will now come to social media talking on how he got scammed not knowing it was all because of his carelessness.

The majority of the Gen Z can be said to be tech-wise and have access to the internet with broader knowledge compared to older generations, but there are also still those who don't know a thing much about the internet talk more about having dip idea about crypto. I have seen a secondary school with a smartphone on her hand walked into a cybercafé where I was doing some printing to ask for email creation which could have been done with her phone, the problem we are having is generalizing that every G Z is exposed and know about tech until we realize how dumbed they are with those stuffs.

A lot of times it doesn't have anything to do with gen z's being reckless, some people are just naturally careless this includes both the young and old. He didn't really know how much of a risk he was taking by exposing his seed phrase in public, just because he had something in his wallet doesn't mean he knows a lot about Bitcoin, he's probably just a new investor that's still learning about it and perhaps he doesn't know the danger of what he did. This is the reason why it is important to educate people new to this about the importance of securing their Bitcoin.

If you were a scammer or hacker you would have taken a good look at the details and that's going to give you access to his wallet. People need to be more educated on this.

Whatever my mind thought at the time, probably a scammer? hacker? He intentionally flex off the wallet thing, or maybe I read wrong, but that's not the case, he has no clue how to safeguard his Bitcoin wallet, boy going to end up with empty balance if this keeps going on.

To this day, I remain wary of cameras positioned in room corners, or public spaces. As we know, there is always someone monitoring the feed, and this applies to public surveillance cameras as well.

You might assume; that the person monitoring the feed won't watch every second of the footage or that the data will be deleted within a few months, but can you be certain of that ? Misfortune doesn't appear on a calendar; you could be under surveillance while revealing your seed phrase, or the footage could be reviewed later. Therefore, I urge everyone (especially beginners) not to underestimate the threat cameras pose to your sensitive data, particularly the keys to your Bitcoin, or cryptocurrency wallets.

Many own bitcoin but not many know how to safe guard it. Because we have learnt a lot from the forum, those knowledge now seem basic to us, while so costly for people not belonging it.

It is not enough to own bitcoin, but knowing how to protect it makes it complete. This is what I preach to people but they seem to neglect. A very close friend of mine dropped his seed phrase carelessly, I was surprised and asked him, his answer was surprising.

He said, people in his locality doesn't know about bitcoin, so they are not going to know that those words are seed phrase. I was mad at him and he later realised his mistake.

Somethings are not suppose to be done in public, why can’t the person be patient and get home before doing that, or maybe he thinks nobody cares about what he is doing on his phone, maybe he believes nobody will be able to see what he is doing on his phone, but I think  the phone screen brightness is high, and people around him are able to see what is being displayed on his screen. Maybe he just feels nobody will notice him, but next time he will have been so careful when dealing with sensitive things like this, and they are not suppose to be done in public space. You might just think someone isn’t observing you, but you going to be wrong.

If we are talking about the exception, it is something difficult to know. Some people may be aware about it, but they are too lazy to learn it. So, they never do it properly.
The case of your friend seems the guy is too lazy looking for the solution himself. As you said, it is even easily fixed if he has the intention to googling. This indicates it is actually not a big deal.

Sure, they have all the sources. Technology, tools, and any thing they need. However, it still depends on how they can optimize it. Unfortunately, some people even have no interest about it. So, it isn't always happening as expected.

Sure, old people may have no idea about something new like crypto coins. Some people who claim Bitcoin/crypto as a scam, they may also never learn it. They just follow other people who claim it as a scam. In some cases, those people claiming "scam" because they have bad experience in crypto.
