It is hard for me to believe this news. I don't trust the government, and now the media has entered my blacklist because I do no longer trust news coming from the local publishers. In Nigeria, we hear news of the military arresting terrorists without any evidence to show Nigerians how it all happened. We get to believe them because the internet can be filled with fake images, either old images or images generated with AI, as proof. The money received by EFCC will not be used to make the country better. If the news is true, the money recovered will be shared between the government and the head of the EFCC. EFCC used to seize cars, houses, and money from fraudsters. How the money is spent will not be made public because they later sell it off and use the money for their family. Indirectly, they are stealing from the people.
Publishing of such attractive news is what I see and believe is our politicians new strategic mode of operation just to make all believed they are working when we know they are not. Although I don’t blame publishers because we are in a country where public or private institutions can't make decisions but only takes instructions from corrupt government officials working to cover there corrupt practices.
Every year news of EFCC recovering stolen money surfaces online but where it goes is what I can't tell because with the availability of those recovered money, the country still goes borrowing which means those news are just all fabricated to help show they are working when they are doing nothing.
