How many soccer leagues are there and why do we need so many threads?

There are so many leagues out there, and honestly if we want to create thread for every league, it might look very unpleasant. There are leagues that are well known while some leagues are not well known, and not every league are even listed on those well known gambling platforms, so I would suggest those well known leagues should be discussed instead bringing the whole leagues here to be discussed. There are leagues that many gamblers rarely gamble on, so gamblers don't really have clear knowledge about those leagues, which might make discussion in those leagues more cumbersome for gamblers.
While discussing on this leagues your level of discussion will depend on how much you understand those leagues, any league you don't properly understand, your input will be very slow, or possibly you might not even be willing to discuss in those threads.

I am just randomly choosing you to respond to as a lot of previous people have said the same thing. Just not quoting them all.

I have no issue with people discussing soccer or futbol or whatever you call it. The issue is this looks like a soccer section with so many threads. I wonder how many are actually serious threads and how many are just being made because someone is stretching to make their post quota, like the small leagues. Are they all worth discussing? If there is no pool and the league has 3 that watch it, why discuss it?

Maybe i am biased because I don't really watch the sport and am from the USA where the sport is just starting to gain popularity. I appreciate that you all have strong opinions and gave me some interesting thoughts to consider. I will read through all these replies over the next few days and look at it from all of you guys/gals perspective.

They're totally different discussion and not the same even though, it still about football. Just as we have it on DSTV, different channels shows different leagues because they ain't the same. The discussion wouldn't flow easily.

Sounded funny when i read it, i understand that he feels the sports league could be aiding spamming since their threads are mostly megathreads but submerging it into one is not a good decision, it would cause confusion as time goes cause people would be discussing about different football leagues in one thread.

Yes, that cannot work and it would make things far worse than people think it already is. Imagine a single page of a thread with discussions about: City v Chelsea, Barcelona v Sevilla, Ac Milan v Juventus, and so on. Talk about absolute chaos.

I think you have a point on this one.
But it's just that the leagues are so vast that specifically needed to be made for them.
I'm not even a fan of it but surprised with the global craze that this sport has brought for almost every country and fan.
Yeah you're right, everyone has almost the same thing to say about it can't be merged onto one topic.

Merging these threads would make it complex since there will be difficult to follow-up discussions. My suggestion is that every country should be limited to one thread. The UEFA Champions League and other European Champions should also have their threads.

It doesn't matter if members here want their country's league to be discussed on the forum even, when those leagues are not popular. Bitcointalk is open for any member who want to discuss their country's league. Someone like me doesn't really like watching my country's football league, instead I focus on leagues such as the premier League, La Liga, Europa League and other popular competitions. The place where I usually  get updates on my country's football league is here on the forum, I usually go there to read comment to follow up with what is happening in the league.

You only counted 21 out of 191 that are discussed here on the gambling board, and the reason for that is that they are not popular the way they're supposed to be, because most of them are just friendly leagues and nothing important to most of us. Even I don't watch all 21 leagues, let alone 191, so that's it. To me, I even prefer it to be this way rather than combining all league discussions in a single thread.

I understand your point is to mitigate spamming on particular leagues because too many threads structured to discuss about a league will still revolve around the same essence on repetitive user's contexts and contents.
To get this done that means the official leagues threads had to be pinned which I guess it is not that easy for Mods to do that.
Why i will find this difficult to prevail is that users will still be there who won't care about using the search button to know if the league thread even exist.

The thing is it was just kind messy on the threads when we look at it, for sure having all the 191 is just impossible since not everyone is going to have a discussion to all of the leagues but I think at this just to fix the messy threads maybe we should have a organized topic naming so that it wouldn't look messy and it was easy to see when you open gambling discussion since it was already have the format of naming in the title.

What do you think? I mean, I kinda agree that it was like impossible to discuss all of this in a single thread because discussing all of it in one thread would cause a lot of confusion and become hectic because of different league discussions, it is going to be all over the place.

Football is very popular around the world and there are many leagues, so I don't find it strange that there are many topics about the different soccer leagues, but I agree with you that things need some organization.

Why not, for example, create a sub-section of the gambling section dedicated to major leagues around the world, instead of all these topics floating around on the front page? Those interested in these leagues can go directly to the dedicated section.

I think the one dedicated thread per country is a good compromise. The level of activity in each league will vary, but this should not be an excuse for fans of each league to be barred from talking about their league. Meanwhile, if each small league has its own thread, the forum could become unnecessarily fanned out, making it more difficult to follow. Popular leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, Champions League, Europa League etc can continue to operate as they are, while less popular leagues could be put together based on their respective countries. This would help maintain discussions but not deprive the opportunity for local football fans.

Yupppp, that's what I mean too. OP seems to think that people in this forum are creating spam threads about sports leagues but they may not realize that there are multiple leagues for the same sports across different countries....I think each league deserves to has its own thread so other people can easily find and focus on the specific league they are interested to discuss rather than having everything being discussed or shared into one general thread which can cause a confusion...even  though they are all under the same sport, each  leagues can have their own rules, formats, schedules, and other differences.

I completely understand how you feel and support you. Even though football is most popular sport on Earth, there are too many topics. Sometimes when I enter gambling discussion, I feel like I enter football discussion only.  I think people should stop creating separate topic for each year league is running an event. For example people now parallel discuss FIFA 2026 and FIFA 2030, and discuss same old "Argentina and rigged games". Also on the other hand it is fair to discuss football league from your country, but if your country is not the forge for world top start and top players dont play there, the existence of such topic questionable.

The solution to all the mess might be opening an extra sub-forum branch for football topics only.

Everyone has their own interest and the league they focus more on, if we should join different leagues together it won’t be nice at all.
I saw someone saying that we should join all the competition that is played by England together in one thread.
That idea would have been good, but for the fact that they usually play some of the competition this week, and the other week they are playing the other competition. There will be a lot of confusion in knowing the discussion in place or the particular competition being discussed,
Two club may meet in Premier league competition and may also meet in Carabao Cup or FA Cup a week later, so how will discussions look like in that thread.
This idea should not be allowed, above are my reasons.

The amount of talking going on in Europe, in its leading flight competitions, is too thick to be held together. Combining discussions of the major league to single forum would be a fatal move to implementing the tactical analysis and transfer news. Classifying certain rooms to each major championship provides a well organized community communication. Their individual formats render the communication of ideas very comfortable and concentrated.

I pay attention to the threads about the Football League quite often and since I also like this sport, which is even more annoying that there are even 2 to more of the same threads for the same league, this will be a pile of threads that should not be necessary, just because someone opens a new thread at the beginning of the season, and the same thread is updated from the old thread, I think it is more important to fix, because it will give birth to a lot of spam or discussions that keep repeating (or just stay on the same topic).

I honestly don't care if the thread is different for each league, because the ones that will go on stage are only the big leagues, as we have seen, and even though people start talking about the league it will pile up and be forgotten if no one discusses.

Good point and that's where the threads will start getting messy and scams can happen. One league, one thread, I think that's the best standard.

Just like in basketball, we have the NBA thread and I've also seen the PBA thread for our local league. Discussions are easier to follow that way.

Some threads are really long like the NBA thread, probably one of the longest, but it still belongs to one league so that's understandable. It's not the thread that's the problem, there are just some spammers, so it's more about the users than the thread itself.

It's not possible at all. Imagine you're giving a review of a premier league game on a weekend where you have different premiere league games, games from different leagues, cases of injury, transfers and other sports related topic that borders on gambling. You want to compress all of them under a single thread? How will there be proper organisation?

Even with the different threads for the different league, when league starts in full, the discussion on each league gets too much such that it almost looks like a spam. Gambling Baird has been the most crowded board ever and with multiple threads, it's left for you to decide which you want to engage in. Plus football is the most popular sports so there's no denying why we have more football discussion than any other kind of discussion.

Especially in sports, it would really look like spam if the discussion is just repeating stats. Most of the time we're also talking about what we actually saw in the game and giving our own opinion. Besides, since we're in the gambling discussion board, we should not be talking only like fans but more like bettors so the board can really serve its purpose.

I've even seen prediction threads, not in this forum though, where people just share their picks and opinions whether others want to follow or fade them. Admins don't automatically call that spam, so it's really hard to judge a gambling discussion only by how long the thread is or how many posts it has.

I already created two threads in meta section asking about the same concern and one of the moderators responded that there’s nothing wrong with it. According to one of the moderators, it’s okay to create new thread for each season even if there was already a thread for that league in a previous season.

The only issue would be duplicate threads if they are literally about the same league season and the same league discussion. There are many sponsored leagues, which is why there are already quite a lot of threads about what may seem like the same league.
