They are ganging up just to make sure that pidgin is forced on us all.

So that we can not have the freedom to communicate in our official language which is English.

Some people are telling you that if you start posting in pidgin, that they can not know what you are doing wrong. Pidgin can not save you from connected accounts or spamming. Do not listen to these people, it is better you develop yourself and make yourself useful on the forum, be smart and follow the rules.

Do you know that best posters on this board are posting in english than pidgin? I am not saying you should not post in pidgin but do not let anyone force any language on you. They can reach out to you and say please just pidgin, do not listen to them. Use the language that you are best at and that you wish to post with on the forum local board.

I know some people are afraid of signature ban, pidgin can it save you. I am highly disappointed in some legendary members that do not go through the thread but telling you lies which is not absolutely a lie because they do not also know about it when they are not reading the important thread.

This is the reason I come up with this topic.
Is what Sexylizzy2813 adding to his post right? english and pidgin are accepted on this board, but he is adding to his posts that people should post pidgin. I think it is time for our moderator igebotz to be filtering such posts and give him warning.

The problem is that, when they commit crime we Nigerians bears the bad name, even when the crime was never committed by a Nigerian, rather a foreigner hiding the local board, so in order to tackle it some Nigerians are agitating seriously for strictly pidgin to be used on the local board.

Although, strictly using pidgin on the local board won't complete stop foreigners from posting on the local board, but they and i believe it would help reduce the extent to which foreigners are coming to the local board to hide, and when they commit crime Nigerians are the ones who end up bearing the bad name, even though the crime was not committed by a Nigerian.

That does not change that some Nigerians did bad things also. I can mention many Nigerians they did bad things if you want me to mention them. I can easily know that they are Nigerians even if they are only posting in english or if they post in pidgin.

It is known that some people that are not Nigerians are posting on the local board. Are other people on the forum complaining?

This will not change those racist kind of post from people that do not like Nigerians, but most people on this forum are welcoming.

TokenTikas is not a Nigerian only let forum members know that not only Nigerians are posting on our local board. If there are Nigerians born abroad and those in diaspora that do not understand pidgin, we should welcome them on our board.

For now, no one is forcing any language on anyone. Sexylizzy has always been using that hashtag and I personally love it. I have created thread to that effect, the need to use more pigin in the local board and I can also remember suggestions like using pigin for at least the initial introduction in the local board. Many people committing these offences are not Nigerians but the entire forum believes they're all Nigerians just because they're in our local board. It is through that not everyone can speak pigin or post in the language but supporting the use of pigin language is not the same as forcing pigin on us.

When I first saw this topic I thought it was a new forum rule, but seeing that it's about sexylizzy, I don't see anything wrong about her posts. Pigin has not been declared as the only language in local board so you can use English whenever you wish because it's your right as an official language.

Nobody can force anyone to do anything in this local board, especially when it’s not breaking rules of the forum, but at the same time we all still have the right to advocate for whatever we feel is right; it’s left for others to go with the idea or ignore it. I also write in pidgin in this local board whenever I feel like it, and he adds to it.

And for the write-up added in the down part of the post by the mentioned member, I also don’t see it as any harm; it's his space, his choice, and unless it breaks any of the local board rules, I also don’t find it necessary to stress the mod with that.

I don't understand, who is ganging up against who? A local board we are all trying to make a better and a reputable place for all of us? I am not sure if there is anything as such.  Moreover pidgin English is always at our personal discretion and not to be forced on nobody. But all I can assure is that, for those that are masking or using our Naija local board as an avenue to do some dirty sh**t, one day they shall surely be exposed to day light.

Nobody fit come cast our territory go freely just like that , anything wey him arrange, na still the person go use em own head carry am.

Please I don't see any importance of this topic you just created here, you can address everything you want on that same topic. Note better that no one is forcing anyone to stick with pidgin language alone, from what the mod said which is Igebotz you fit make your topic a self moderated with specific rules to say that the topic is strictly to only Nigerian pidgin. It's left for you to post with the said rules or you leave the topic without posting at all so that your post won't be deleted.

You can lock this topic and ref people to keep on the discussion on the other topic per say, creating another topic for same discussion is not actually called for.

Well, I don't think there is a time where pidgin was or will be forced to use here on location board, I only saw a post that some people were suggesting that local members should try to engage more with the pidgin. From thread you could tell that many understood the message but corrected the poster that both English and pidgin is okay to be used in the local board. And if you’re post an irrelevant post spamming the forum pidgin can’t be your shield because it’s also English disguised.

No body is coming up with agenda of forcing anyone to post with pidgin. Don’t you knw there are Nigerians in the local board that don’t even know how to speak or write in pidgin. Those users will still be regarded as our locals and they will also engage in discussions. So I think you should calm down and stop spreading this wrong narratives

I don't even know why we're turning this into an argument. Yeah I know that everyone here is concern about foreigner using our local board to hide their identity, but I don't think making pidgin compulsory is the right solution. We're in a world where translator tools are available, and if someone is determined to pretend to be a Nigerian, then they'll make use of translator and still make their post in pidgin. Maybe to some extent, pidgin can make things a little bit difficult for them but pidgin cannot prove that this person is a Nigerian.

And secondly we all know that the Nigeria pidgin is not written in a standardized form as English. For that reason most words or expression can be written or spelled in a different way by different people depending on how they pronounce it or hear it. For example: something/somtin/sumtin or because/becuz/becos, they all mean thesame thing but spelled in different way. So because of that I most times find it very hard to read some people's posts written in pidgin, and I also find it very hard making a full post in pidgin because I'm more comfortable expressing myself in English.

Since both Pidgin and English is allowed in the local board. If you're more comfortable writing in pidgin then carry on with it, and allow others that is more comfortable using English case close.

OP I really don't see the need for this thread, if someone is trying to ragebait you the best thing you can do is simply ignore them.
The perfect solution that was proposed for this was that if anyone starts a thread they are allowed to say only pidgin is allowed on their thread, if you see that kind of s thread you can decide to not converse in it, if s thread has no such rule then no one can force you to speak pidgin.
Make una dey learn to ignore some kind talk way people go dey try to put for una mouth, no be to come dey create thread because person talk say you no from Nigeria, ignore the person and move on.

Based on popular opinion, opening this thread was not necessary because there is no essence to denying the fact that identifying ourselves with the pidgin language would help us bond and communicate in a better way than "ganging up" on each other just like you mentioned.

We are one family here and should remain united. There is nothing wrong with what Sexylizzy posted, he was only emphasizing on the importance of identity and enhancing a better communication with our local language that only we could understand. There is no need to stress this issue or create a thread to address the issue. The moderator Sir Igebotz should have made necessary corrections if she had violated the forum rules or stated things wrongly.

I am so highly disappointed seeing threads like this, I don't know why people are so rebellious in such a manner that they don't always consider others than their own selfish interest, Nigeria has three main languages, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, while English is the main official language everyone speak in the country, pidgin is just an incorrect intonation of speaking English language and that does not make it Nigerian official language, moreover, only in south south will you experience people speaking pidgin most, go to South West on Norther part of Nigeria, everyone there speaks their language or English.

That been said, I know that what prompt to creating this topic was the repeated attempt that is occurring over Nigerian local board to be speaking pidgin, which is not going to be possible for any reasonable person to think of, the solution has been given by the moderator that if you choose to have only pidgin on your thread, indicate such and you can as well go as far as making it safe moderated, that is your cup of tea, but don't think you can use pidgin as a shield to perform any unusual act or behavior in disguise because even AI can speak, write or interpret what you think others may not be able to comprehend, those concern should note.
