This is a risky fight for Magsayo, though I trust his power, I don't think he has the stamina of a real champion, so I'm not going to blindly choose him here just because he's a Filipino boxer.

If I would bet, I'd probably go with Andres Cortes, and I like the odds too, seems like Magsayo is a bit overvalued here so I'll take the slight underdog.

Cortes has 25 wins with 13 KOs and no losses, not really a high KO rate, but I think he's more of a technical boxer.

But the question is, who are the fighter that Cortes has face before with that kind of impressive wins? Did he face a boxer like Magsayo who has the power and movement. Although Mark has lost 2 fights, it was with high caliber fighter.

That's the point. Magsayo's stats might not perfect because he has ever lost two times. But he was losing against Vargas and Figueroa who clearly better compared to the opponent faced by Cortes in the previous game(nova).
Honestly, Cortes undefeated record is not changing the fact he fought fighters who far worsen than what Magsayo fought before. So i think i'm also in favor Magsayo to win the game. Magsayo win by KO. Hope Magsayo will cook Cortes soon and break Cortes undefeated record.

This has a higher chance of giving Magsayo a win than going all the way to a decision, I believe his losses came by decision, so the longer the fight goes, the more risky it becomes for him. He has the power, so he should press and be aggressive from the very start, try to score a knockout and not let the fight become too close. If he can win this in an impressive way, I think Magsayo will be heading for bigger fights in the future.

Yeah, because those two fights that he lost were actually quite close. One fight that still sticks in my mind is his fight with Julio Ceja in 2021. He was knocked down there too, but he was able to recover and eventually win by a big KO.

That shows he can survive trouble, but it also shows there is some risk if he faces a boxer with heavy punches. If he gets caught clean, there is always a chance he could be stopped. The good thing about this matchup is that Cortes is not really known as a knockout artist, so I don’t think the KO risk is that high.

I also believe that Magsayo has the advantage, especially in early rounds.  But I am not sure if the fight goes a long way.  Magsayo has the history of gassing out in the later part of the fight.  One example is his fight against Brandon Figueroa, maybe he has some trouble in preparing for this fight, but this is an indication of the possibility of Magsayo getting too tired at the later round of the match.

If Magsayo can keep up his energy until the latter part of the match, there is a huge chance that Magsayo can bag this match.  Aside from that, the explosive one-punch knockout, if landed solidly, can determine the outcome of the match.
