While I was walking my dog on an autumn rainy day a cold wind whipped my face and the closeness of nature helped me sort out my thoughts and recharge my batteries.
I stopped and closed my eyes for a moment feeling the cold breeze on my skin which brought me peace and deep concentration.
I remembered the words of someone very important in the world of cryptography and finally fully understood their meaning and the fact that he was right claiming that no decentralized blockchain will ever replace the current monetary system and currencies like the euro and the dollar.

It does not matter how much buzz the media create around cryptocurrencies because the real obstacle lies not in the technology itself but in the direction chosen by regulators and the governors of major central banks.
This resembles the situation with a single television channel in the former Eastern Bloc countries after the fall of the Soviet Union when the only station was watched exclusively by government elites while ordinary people avoided it or turned it on only sporadically.
Today the huge choice of new projects changes little because even though these networks represent independent technology their coins on exchanges are still ultimately exchanged for traditional fiat money.

To really change this state of affairs we would need to give the heads of major financial institutions a dedicated centralized blockchain. The Bank for International Settlements had already conducted research into a centralized system resistant to quantum computers in the transaction layer but their best programmers equipped with the fastest servers in the world collided with a wall which turned out to be the huge size of digital signatures.
In turn the European Central Bank with Christine Lagarde at the helm is currently promoting its own agenda of a digital euro and the tokenization of the identity of businesses and citizens.
This is the same trend as in the USA where the goal is the tokenization of everything and it is a process that is absolutely unstoppable.

My proposal is simple.
Developers from all decentralized networks which like independent television channels give people the freedom of choice should start taking action.
Let us create without asking for their permission separate centralized blockchains tailored to the needs of central banks and hand over the ready-made code to them for testing.
If the European Central Bank implemented such a solution then a true revolution which has been stalled for a long time would finally start moving.

Presenting every central bank in the world with a separate tailored centralized network would push evolution forward and change the balance of power.
In such a setup decentralized coins would stop being traded for traditional currencies or corporate securities and instead would begin to be exchanged directly for official digital currencies originating from centralized bank blockchains.
This will accelerate the transformation of the entire monetary system and give decentralized projects a new great chance to reach a broader audience.

What do you think about this?

I have a bit of free time today so I will be focusing on developing the GUI layer which I know many of you have been asking for in emails

Hoover think i will release the GUI version in about a month or two after testing.

Big thanks to everyone supporting MONEU.

It’s almost five in the morning, and I’m preparing Chinese noodles using a recipe I found online.
I’m wondering if everything in the code is in order and if I’ve thought of everything properly.
I’m looking for flaws in my own reasoning and wishing you all a good and pleasant day.
Please remember to open P2P port 8327 so nodes be able to communicate properly and close RPC port 8328 for safety if you don't use it externally

I have made some minor adjustments.

Now if a user creates a wallet and a noise file, they cannot overwrite that noise file.
This prevents a scenario where someone might imprudently run the noise file creation command twice for the same wallet and lose access to their funds, since the new file for the same wallet would differ from the original.

Also if a user enters an incorrect password, meaning one different from the password they originally set, during walletunlock or loadwallet, or when the noise file is read The node will return a
"Wrong password / ACCESS DENIED" message.

Please update your nodes.

Greetings to MONEU miners!

Fresh MONEU packages and source code are out with a small fix that stops the noise file from being overwritten.
The version number is still 0.2.3 so even if you already run 0.2.3 grab it again from the links below.
Please do it before block 55000.

Linux package: https://github.com/natusor/MONEU_linux/raw/52c25b0c2479d58d0a168e9fa308681b839d1310/moneu-0.2.3-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
Windows package: https://github.com/natusor/MONEU_windows/raw/362931c2da419c15b892853845a2ccd06f751e30/moneu-0.2.3-windows-x86_64.zip
Source code: https://github.com/natusor/MONEU

Our network is still really young and we have to look after it.
Nodes with port 8327 open stay connected to mine because they actually help the network and I only cut off a pile of containers from one data center.
They just pulled data from other people's nodes and gave nothing back.

A quick request to anyone with a lot of hashing power.
There are still only a few miners.
When one or two people grab almost every block new folks just don't feel like joining.
Let's leave some room for them too.

If you have your own channels on IRC or the regular internet or the darknet tell people about MONEU. Invite folks from your town and your country to run a node.
Every new miner really matters for the network.

Thanks to everyone who is with us!

The network has reached block 55000 and miners now earn the fees.

Besides the 77 MONEU for each block miners now also collect the fees from the transactions they include.
You can already see it in the chain. For example block 55085 paid out 77.00006312 MONEU and block 55086 paid out 77.00003212 MONEU.

Big thanks to every miner who upgraded to 0.2.3 before the switch.

Why do the sizes of executable files, downloaded from the site binaries and compiled and created from sources, differ so greatly (several times)?

Built moneu-cli 263.7kB          -> Loaded moneu-cli 6.0MB
Built moneud 2.2MB                -> Loaded moneud 8.0MB
Built moneu-test-noise 1.4MB -> Loaded moneu-test-noise 2.9MB

zlg1 when you build from source the program uses the libraries you already have on your system and some people have to install them first.
The ready packages carry those libraries inside because people who use them just want to unpack and run with nothing else to do.
That is why they are bigger.

The packages are signed with GPG and have SHA256 sums so you can check them. And if you prefer you can always build the node yourself from the open source code.
We have a new look of the website

There are now animations which Windows users asked for in their emails.
They make it easier to understand how to unpack and run MONEU on Windows.

Please add a section and complete instructions on how to restore the wallet and the noise file on any other computer. This would make it possible to access all the data clearly and step-by-step from any other computer, rather than the one where it was originally created.

Hi.

The commands and instructions for using MONEU are on the website and they are in the white paper as well. The help command shows all available commands. The website kept working during the global PHP vulnerability because we do not use PHP anywhere so everyone could look there at any time. The current instructions are up to date. New instructions will be added together with the version with a graphical interface which will be released soon.

The noise file is not tied to a computer. It is a part of the wallet. The whole wallet folder with the keys and the noise file should be copied to your own separate storage device and then the wallet can be used on any other computer. This is also described in this Bitcointalk thread and on the website and in the documentation.

The seed phrase can be used to recover the private keys but the same noise file can never be recreated a second time. The current version has no command to restore a wallet from the seed phrase because we recommended copying the whole wallet folder instead. The new version will have such a command but without the same noise file from the same wallet the funds still cannot be recovered.

The noise file can never be recreated or calculated twice the same from any equation or phrase. This uniqueness is an essential part of the post-quantum shield in MONEU. If someone with bad intentions knows a private key or one day uses a quantum computer to calculate it then without the noise file they cannot steal the funds.

For the same reason a new noise file will never match an old wallet that used a different noise file. If the noise file of a wallet is lost then access to its funds is lost. The only option then is to delete the old wallet and create a new wallet with a new and unique noise file.

For the noise file to be recoverable our entropy generator would have to create it from a seed that can be calculated mathematically.
Then a quantum computer or someone with huge computing power could recreate the file. The shield that protects coins in wallets and the transactions made by users would then lose its purpose. Weakening the entropy generator in this way would make the noise file pointless. It would also expose users and the MONEU community to future losses caused by people with bad intentions.

That is why I and the MONEU community will never ever weaken the entropy generator in such a way that anyone could recreate the noise file.

Happy mining.

MONEU now has automatic tests on GitHub.
Every change gets built from source and the self test runs on every push and pull request.
Big thanks to DanAp86 for adding this.
