I am not against sig-bans per se, but I think other moderators need to approve them first.
We really don’t need that, what we need is a very clear rule and evidence of posts that lead to a signature ban. Stop with the bullshit about standards and evidence, the whole moderation staff is acting mostly at their own discretion as there is no micromanaging of moderation decisions. Theymos intervenes very rarely, only when it is really needed. Why should there be a double standard for nutildah? If anything needs to be done, it's to add a member who can shorten the ban period.
Lengthen? Yes. Shorten? No.
Shitposters are off-topic posting nonsense to protect their own accounts and that of their friends.

Wouldn’t that be because most signature campaigns nowadays require you to post on the Gambling board? If you’re here to farm the sht of the campaigns, you probably need to post there.
Sure, but then the whole idea is wrong from the start. And the guy implementing it, by his own admission, rarely ever set a foot in there. __________________________ Here's a thought - there should be a 'Paid pools' child board in the Gambling section. Naturally, sig campaign managers will focus on that - as will sponsors. To get a good spot in the campaign, posting there would practically become mandatory - which means paying the participation fee - which means having a bit of skin in the game and effectively contributing to the circular economy. Currently the financial threshold to cross to earn from the forum is 0. Good members in gambling pay up to 20 mBTC in buyin fees for various competitions yearly, just to have fun. If there is a financial requirement, you'd drastically cut the farm accounts - or simply let them scramble for scraps in the shitty part of the gambling boards. No good sig campaign manager will look their way. People that post quality content and don't gamble would naturally still get chosen. Problem solved without much drama, without bans and whatnot. And it's a wholesome solution that benefits everyone. And there are probably 10 better ones, I came up with this one in 10 minutes. __________________________ Sorry Rambo, I fully derailed your thread. You'll forgive me though. I disagree, just because you participate in a paid pool doesn't make you a good member. Also doesn't mean you are contributing to the community. Just means you paid a fee and are trying to win some money while having some fun. Take away the money portion of these paid contests and see how many still participate. I do not care for soccer/futbol at all and I also do not participate in the many paid pools. Guess I am not a "good member" and cannot participate in a sig campaign if we go by your thought here. There are many others who also don't participate in these paid pools whom I would probably consider "good members". There will be some good eggs that get banned. Mistakes will happen. Looking at the arallmuus case, look what happened. People stepped up and his ban reversed. I would say that if enough stink is raised about certain members who were banned, they will likely get reversed as well, but I wouldn't make a stink because they are nice or a friend. Look at their posts and see if you feel they are good before raising a stink.

That is the problem with many users of this problem, it has already happened for this reason or similar reasons relating to "they are doing things that I like". As soon as you introduce into your consideration who likes who, and who does what, signature bans stop being about post quality and start turning into a popularity contest.
Just because a member is genuine, that does not mean his posts are not shitpost quality level.

As I said, if we continue this maybe another topic would be appropriate. Still, I get dragged back here I disagree, just because you participate in a paid pool doesn't make you a good member. Take away the money portion of these paid contests and see how many still participate.

Nope, I specifically said I think good posters would easily get paid without participating in the gambling boards, just like they do now. I know I'd take them in my campaigns. People that post quality content and don't gamble would naturally still get chosen.
I'm also not saying that a person paying for the pools is automatically a great user and should get the best spots but discussions in these topics tend to attract the best users in gambling and by adding a bit of financial risk to the equation, we'd see less shitposters by default. Also, people using Bitcoin in daily transactions carry more value than people who rarely use it but write nicer posts - at least for the companies that are paying for all of it. ____________________________ To add to that - as Lucius likes to point out, I assume you wouldn't stop writing if you were not selected in a campaign? Why do you suddenly mind now when it's your opportunity to earn we're discussing? You were a sig campaign manager yourself. You know what the clients demand and where they want to be seen. The quality of the posts isn't of much relevance if it's on boards of no interest, so a decent poster in gambling is often a better fit than a super user in Bitcoin Discussion. I'm incredibly annoyed when people tell me who the good posters are. They are free to open a sig campaign management service and sell 20 great posters from Mining and Technical discussions to a casino - let's see how that works out for them. _____________________________ TLDR: the sigbans won't stop the spam, and managers will naturally always tilt towards gambling boards when selecting members.

If someone truly benefits significantly from those $100 a week, then they should strive to maintain that income as much as possible. For this reason, he will be careful not to do anything that could jeopardize his position, while at the same time wanting to protect the forum as much as possible so that everything continues smoothly.
This has only become true since the Signature Bans started. Until then, all participants simply knew no thing ever happens to any body even if they write the most non sense posts ever. Unfortunately. This is how the World works. You give them all the Freedom they could have and they will enjoy it more and more until they start abusing it. Then you need rules. And now you are dictating rather than an 'advocate of Freedom' and they want their Freedom back. Now, repeat!

I’m not sure if anybody shares this opinion but for me, there are far more shit posters in the Altcoin section than the Gambling section. When I used to actively mass report I always found low hanging fruit in the Altcoin section. You could find one bad post, check the accounts history and literally report enough posts to degrade their rank, the posters there are THAT bad.
I’m a little perplexed that the Gambling section is being scrutinised more than the Altcoin section. At least the sig wearers in the Gambling section are advertising & bringing exposure to their target audience. The Altcoin section is an absolute cess pool.

The whole Altcoin section (from Altcoin Discussion, Speculation and Altcoins Mining to the Marketplace and Speculation) had only ~5k posts in August, while Gambling Discussion alone had ~30k. Bounty campaigns died, and with them, the signature campaigns that paid in the Altcoin board + ann bumping (shilling) is not the thing anymore. And since the majority (or maybe all) of the Bitcoin signature campaigns don't pay for posts in the Altcoin board, it's no wonder that no one writes there anymore (well, compared to the situation a couple of years ago). So maybe that's why Altcoin part of the forum is not a problem anymore.

Altcoins are really dying, sorry if I'm going too far into this topic.I don't know if you've noticed, this four-year period we haven't had any alt-seasons at all, not that I miss them, mind you, I'm fed up with foundations and groups of people who invent coins just to scam you The only cryptocurrency that has remained strong and valid is bitcoin, for the obvious reasons that you can understand. so it's normal that that section is dying, people are fed up with believing in fake projects now. sorry for little OT

I am new member on this forum I have uploaded my two posts but I couldn't find it. Anyone here is to give me clear guidelines how to work on this forum...

Can anyone help me how could I work on this forum? https://loyce.club/archive/posts/6703/67038872.htmlSo, people don't come exclusively because of Bitcoin and the ecosystem around it, but they also come to the forum with the prejudice that this is a work platform, like Fiverr, Upwork... Hence the low-quality posters, and they quickly calculate that more accounts = higher potential earnings. That indeed used to be the case, but nowadays altcoins part of forum is dying. Bounty campaigns as we know them here, mindless spamming on the forum or on social networks, no longer have any effect (if they ever did). Airdrops are in a completely different form today, and the forum did not adapt to it.

Wow! This is the real point. You captured this very well. The mindset of individuals before joining the forum influences the behaviour of that user throughout their stay in the forum. Someone who's idea of the forum is about Fiver and Upwork will care about nothing less than how to work and earn. Meanwhile there are few exemptions. I was making lengthy posts on facebook and was getting a lot of engagement until a bruh told me that he was going to introduce me to a bitcoin forum where I could eventually start earning with my writing skill rather than waste it on facebook. After I was introduced here, it took just a few weeks to understand the main purpose of the forum. I learnt of Satoshi, Hal, Laszlo the I am hodling guy and other notable events, that was when I understood I was in a global and the most important bitcoin forum. I put in much efforts to learn. Infact, I became a full member but was reluctant to apply for campaign. Meanwhile there were member campaigns that I ignored in order not to spoil my post history. I was obsessed with learning, posting and getting merits, that I didn't care much about the earning aspect. All I'm saying is; a genuine character who came for money could switch mind when they really understand what this forum stands for.

What I have noticed many times is that new members register and come because they heard somewhere that the btt forum is primarily a platform where money is made and where paid jobs are offered. Most of them don't know anything about Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, but that is not an obstacle when they want to make money.
It's not like a thing which is automatically terrible if anyone joined this forum by any introduction somewhere as this forum has opportunities for making money. It's only their initial motivation and reason to join this forum, while with time they are freely to change themselves. They can learn about the forum, Bitcoin as well as opportunities of making money here. If they can make good posts, have quality contributions to the community, it's fine if they make money here. Even theymos wrote that making money is allowed in this forum, just don't abuse it. You too have an opportunity to become part of the forum's history: whether and in what way you do so is up to you.
The purpose of the forum
This forum exists to provide a platform for the free (but ordered) exchange of ideas. If you have an idea to express, then it is probably possible to do it here as long as you follow the rules.
A lot of people come here primarily looking to make money. The forum administration is very happy that people are able to use the forum in order to better themselves; indeed, one of the reasons for Bitcoin's creation was to break the artificial barriers which prevent so many people around the world from attaining prosperity. However, if your attempts to make money conflict with the forum's primary goal of enabling discussion, then you are swimming upstream, and you will not be sucessful in the end.
If you view the forum as some sort of "job" where you complete some basic tasks and get paid, then you will almost certainly be disappointed, and the forum administration will not be sympathetic. If you do make money using the forum, then it will be through innovation and entrepreneurship, not any sort of mindless busywork.
The terrible things are many people announced as newbies are not newbies, and they farmed merit, abused the merit system, covered the forum with shitposts.

Skeptical folks, do you disagree with the entire thing or is it personal because you think said member is not fit for the task? I am sure he is rational enough not to make stupid decisions that will render the entire thing generally harmful, let him clean the forum and if he makes a mistake we can defend the "victim" and unban them.

The idea is excellent, and i believe it will help the forum in the future and that the quality will be at a higher level than it is now. Everyone has the right to make a mistake, nobody is perfect, but i certainly think that he can ask for help from other respected forum members to help him with the final decision and that's it.

I call bullshit on that, since as a Member rank you applied for a signature campaign. I just don't understand why would you lie about something so trivial, when its so easy to check? Could it be that its not so easy to stop lying once you get used to doing it?

Since you mentioned skeptical folks, I thought you were referring to me hence I felt the need to reply. Now, as for reply itself: I agree with the initiative as well as in Nutildah I trust, actually I trusted him to sigban me but I am not (yet). So, he hasn't lived up to my trust. (I feel I am being too self-deprecating at times, but it's not deprecating if it's factual, is it? — this is called nested self-deprecation). ... The idea is excellent, and i believe it will help the forum in the future and that the quality will be at a higher level than it is now. It already did since most sigbanned users have stopped posting so less spam.

I am sure he is rational enough not to make stupid decisions that will render the entire thing generally harmful, let him clean the forum and if he makes a mistake we can defend the "victim" and unban them.
I think we need to be careful that we don’t end up like most other forums, in fact most other areas of life at the moment. When I say that, I mean regulated to fuck, this forum is about free speech and individualism. Sure, some people shit post but maybe that’s because there are different levels of education available in different parts of the world. There has to be some leeway, not everybody is high IQ. Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I don't like to see people getting sig bans for moderate quality posts. I reviewed the list of people sig banned so far and sure the people banned aren’t the highest quality posters but they’re not all total shit posters. I mean for example, is a sig ban on this guy justified - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=882964Or this guy - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=886369Even this guy - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=509084I think this whole new moderation style is far too strict.

Nope imo. Plus, when he was sigbanned there was some drama about it, you can check in sigban appeal thread. Iirc, FMC also spoke in his defense.

I put in much efforts to learn. Infact, I became a full member but was reluctant to apply for campaign. Meanwhile there were member campaigns that I ignored in order not to spoil my post history. I was obsessed with learning, posting and getting merits, that I didn't care much about the earning aspect.
I call bullshit on that, since as a Member rank you applied for a signature campaign. I just don't understand why would you lie about something so trivial, when its so easy to check? Could it be that its not so easy to stop lying once you get used to doing it? This is from that series where someone forgot to log out and wrote from the wrong account.👀
