People have the choice of buying and selling bitcoin, it is up to them to decide whether they want to keep it stored or trade on it.
Bitcoin investors or traders all need to buy and sell their bitcoins, just more or less often.

It's the same that buyers see prices at which they bought bitcoins are cheap and as opportunities for higher prices and profit later while sellers see such same prices as prices for taking profit or bad prices with vision of market falls deeper later so that they sold their coins.

The market is always like a balance between buyers and sellers, where the demand is bigger, price will be skewed towards that side.

Quote
Bitcoin does not discriminate between individuals, institutions who are looking to profit from bitcoin's price changes are welcome to try it. That does not mean adoption is decreasing. It is the choice of the individuals who are holding bitcoin to choose their stance on long term investment in bitcoin. They can spread the news, ask others to try it or simply appear as the rich guy in the group to make others feel jealous.
Traders will have to face with the volatility in the market, fuds, emotional and psychological challenge that all are able to affect their decisions. Most traders have losses because they fail to handle many challenging things while investors have less challenge, and their vision, then strategies used for investment actually help them to win against market volatility and fud pressure.

In my opinion, the true adoption of Bitcoin is through its use in daily payments as an alternative to the current banking system and not just holding it in the long term to make profits when the price rises.

But at the same time, we cannot ignore the fact that the use of Bitcoin in large quantities by institutions to hedge against inflation and as a strategic reserve can be considered part of the adoption because it keeps Bitcoin somewhat stable and makes volatility less and manipulation more difficult.

Both using bitcoin as a payment method for everyday transactions and holding it for future profits are all what bitcoin adoption is all about. Yes, Satoshi created bitcoin to be used for decentralised transactions but adoption also carries holding because if people do not hold bitcoin, how can they be able to spend it in the future? Because it is not like everyone's bitcoin will remain untouched forever just because they are holding for long term profits.

You're right that institutional involvement helped to strengthen the bitcoin network because if not for institutional investors, the market would have been experiencing extreme volatility because most investors would have even prefer short term profits.

After the various types of adoption that occur today, we sometimes think like this :Why do I use BTC to buy goods or transactions every day if in fact now Bitcoin is more dominant as an asset, isn't the longer I hold it the higher its value?.

We also know that the permissionless nature of bitcoin, it further reinforces that there is no compulsion of the owner to spend bitcoin. So we really can't dictate the use of bitcoin, those who own it have the right to use it for anything. To me most importantly with all the types of adoption that exist, it has shown that Bitcoin is becoming more widely accepted.
One doesn't necessarily just have to use Bitcoin for payments, you can always do both things with it; use it as a payment currency, and then also use it as an asset as long as you can afford to do that, because when it comes to using it as a payment method or currency, you will basically just use the money that you generally use for your expenses but your payment currency will be changed, and then you can also buy and hold Bitcoins, as much as you can based on your financial capabilities.

When it comes to using Bitcoin as a currency for making day-to-day payments, there are both pros and cons of it. The most highlighted one of them is one thing that is both a pro and a con, which is the price volatility. It's a pro because it can make your bitcoins have more value and purchasing power if the market is going up, which means you may have $100 now, but you could have $120 after an hour if the market is going up. Similarly, it could be a con because the same thing can go the other way around; your $100 going to $80.

So this is the biggest reason why most people don't use Bitcoin for regular payments, because you wouldn't want to keep your day-to-day funds in a currency or an asset that also has the possibility of losing value, because that could turn out to be bad, especially for those who do budgeting for everything.

By institutional Involvement I meant; Institutional investors, ETFs, companies holding bitcoin, banks in bitcoin;
While,
By everyday utility I meant; people using bitcoin for payments, casinos accepting bitcoin, remittances, cross-border payments etc.

Bitcoin is being widely accepted by people, some are using it for everyday purchases, and many people are holding it for the long term. More and more institutions are adopting Bitcoin more aggressively, relying more on each other to hold it, including strategy companies and Bitcoin ETF and other companies that are holding Bitcoin extensively.
And in the future, more and more Bitcoin holdings will be built, as Bitcoin holdings become more popular for daily payment purposes and as well.
Bitcoin is being used for everyday transactions no doubt, just that side of adoption is not getting much attention and lately institutional presence has significantly increased but that's not the debate.

But the main reason they're separated in this thread is to know which of them is getting more weight of the adoption and wether this growing shift toward institutional adoption is potentially undermining the P2P money in Satoshi's original plan.
