I’m still a beginner in Bitcoin and trying to understand how people make their decisions How do you decide when it’s the right time to buy, hold, or sell Bitcoin? Do you mainly look at the price and charts, or are there other things you consider before making a decision?
Buy = DCA [Dollar Cost Average], Buy the Dips [without trying to time the bottom] and also whenever I have some spare thrash FIAT outside those two scenarios. Hold HODL = constantly, I always have Bitcoin in a "long term" wallet. Sell = Rarely, either in dire circumstances or out of necessity. Thats my simple, no nonsense strategy and from there you can make it as complicated as you like. Everyone will have a different ratio/formula on how they Buy, HODL and Sell, but DCA and Buy the Dip are pretty much a standard.

Bitcoin is a volatile asset therefore the best time to buy is when it's price drops and the best time to sell is when it's price increases, you can also decide to either buy and sell on the long or short term, if you're buying to sell for quick profits it means that you're a trader but if you want to buy and hold for a long term it means that you're an investor. You should know that trading is risky, you might sell at a lose if you're impatient to wait till price starts to increase but when you're an investor you don't have to worry about monitoring the market. Having said that you should know that your Bitcoin is your money and your asset, if their is a very good reason to sell before your targeted plan you can do so because you can't hold your Bitcoin indefinitely, what is important is that if you're an investor you don't have to sell your Bitcoin impulsively. I recommend DCA strategy to accumulate and hold, Bitcoin has proven that it has potentials to reach $1,000,000 sometime in the future although there is no guarantee when it can happen.

From your motive of buying Bitcoin is what determines if the consideration of Bitcoin prices will be necessary for you or not because you wouldn't need it if you are going to hold, so actually as someone who had made mistakes at some point during my beginners time I would advise you shouldn't try to attempt different things aside from buying Bitcoin to hold because for a beginner who doesn't actually understand some associates risk in Bitcoin would get attracted to start doing trading, so actually is a different branch of method in Bitcoin that's not for people who doesn't have knowledge of it, so your primary goal should be to invest in Bitcoin for a longer period that would be suitable for you and make sure that you would be left with enough money after every accumulation of Bitcoin.

Buying is a simple matter. What's much harder is then keeping everything, not losing your seed phrases, and not giving in to panic when the rollercoaster of volatility begins. You're a beginner, OP. The questions are reasonable. The more you learn, the fewer mistakes you'll make. The main thing is not to rush. If your income allows you to make regular purchases, that will be much smarter than allocating a large sum (which is different for everyone) in one go. It won't be a big mistake to buy and gradually learn all the rules for maintaining your investment fund. It's better to be a practitioner, to be someone who has, rather than waiting for the moment when you're "ready" to make a purchase. The main thing is to get the information on how to store it and not lose it and then to continue developing, maintaining motivation, and nurturing experience.

One thing you must note is that you should be able to know when you should be selling, for instance; when you make investment during the bear market and you planned to hold for at least Two years or four years, as an investor you should be able to know when bull market would come, and immediately bull market in the next 4 years or after halving you should be getting ready to at least sell some portion of your investment or sells all entirely and then wait back when another bear market would come for you to accumulate back. This is how most people do make their profits from their investments, this also includes to other altcoins in the market.

You should consider buying anytime you have the money to invest in Bitcoin, it should not require too much analysis of thinking, as soon as the money is ready, buy and hold irrespective of the price. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you cannot invest the money meant for your basic needs into Bitcoin, because it is not money you can afford to lose. The money you can only invest is part of your discretionary income which you can afford to lose even though we know you are not going to lose your money investing in Bitcoin. The idea helps you not to panic when your investment is not showing profits immediate and allow you develop the patience to hold for a long term.

You are probably asking each investor to tell you their own investment plan so that you can plan accordingly. First of all, you need to remember that not every investor earns the same and everyone has a different spending limit. You will analyze the market based on your income and decide which strategy for Bitcoin will be best for you. In response to your question, I am saying that I do not consider any time or period for accumulation Bitcoin. I accumulate Bitcoin regularly regardless of the price, through discretionary income. Discretionary income refers to the amount of money you earn each week and the amount left after meeting your daily needs. If there is no discretionary income at the end of the week and you do not have available funds Bitcoin is not mandatory for you. Achieve financial capacity and gradually accumulate Bitcoin by balancing your income and expenses. I only see if I have discretionary income. If I have a small amount of funds at the end of the week, I allocate it to accumulating Bitcoin and also build an emergency fund. Another important aspect of long term Bitcoin investing is cash flow. I always consider cash flow to be as important as an emergency fund for stay on long term bitcoin holding.

I don't ask myself if Bitcoin is cheap or expensive. I ask myself if my reason for owning Bitcoin has changed. Price is a factor but it's not the only factor. A short term correction does not necessarily mean that one should sell the Bitcoin. Provided that a person believes that it has a long term value. However, even in a bull market. Selling may still be the right choice if they have a important expense that they need to cover. It's the best strategy to have a reason and exit plan in advance so that you don't let emotion drive the decision in a panic or euphoria.

Good question. Just like they normally say, "that what we don't know is bigger than us", and that's the real truth about it. Especially with Bitcoin investment, because it is only when you ask questions that you will be able to negative it without any problem. There are many things new beginners need to know before investing in Bitcoin. So I would start by telling you that Bitcoin investment is not a get-rich-quick scheme. That's the main thing that newbies need to put into consideration. You can decide to buy using the DCA method, either weekly or monthly, and continue your Bitcoin investment.

From the way you are sounding I think you are a trader some people here are not traders they are long-term bitcoin investors they only buy and hold for a very long time let's say 5 to 10 years. There's no best time to accumulate Bitcoin, the best time to sell Bitcoin is when you have actually made a good profit from it and then you can sell if you are a trader, but if you are a long-term investor the best time to sell is when you have reached the number of years you planned to reach let's say you plan to hold bitcoin for 10 years when you get to that 10 years you can sell because you have already achieved your goal in Bitcoin investment. Or I will say as a long term investor the best time to sell is when you have reached your over accumulate stage.

I buy when I have the money available, not based on price charts. If I have money this month that I can use to buy, I go to the market right away to do so. In short, I buy when I have the money. I sell when I see that the price has risen from what I paid. I wait at least one year before selling to make it easier for me to prepare my annual financial statements. My decision to sell may change from the one-year timeframe I’ve set, depending on market opportunities.

Not a bad question if you genuinely want to learn and include the experiences from others into your journey, investors apply strategies when investing in Bitcoin. Those who DCA buy at intervals regardless of the prices, investors who buy the DIP invest because the price has dumped and they will buy cheaper, and those who prefer to lump buy are not targeting the DIP but are also not buying at a high price, deciding when to buy should depend on your kind of strategy. Pick your strategy, and prepare your budget before making moves to buy. Only sell when you make profits, focus on long term goals.

First, I will start from this part you said "when to buy" if you ask me I would say the right to buy is when you figure out that you have discretionary funds. If you have your discretionary funds available you don't necessarily need to wait for anything than to get start as so as possible that's after which you have learn the basic things about bitcoin investment. As for the HODL, a Long term investment is supposed to be held for 5-10 years or more before it can be considered as long term investment. Selling your holdings should take place after which you have achieve your investment target and / or the stage of over-accumulation, then you can start figuring out when you're in profit to sell.

Sadly, I cannot help much because I don't sell anymore. Bitcoin is too precious to me, so I don't want to give it up. I made a big mistake in the past and won't let it happen again.
But back in the past, when I used Bitcoin to try to make more money while also trying to accumulate more Bitcoin, I always used the chart for it. The history, the recent pumps and dumps, and you will just have to predict where it will go. There's no right or wrong here because you will definitely make a mistake, as Bitcoin is volatile. You will just have to prepare and brace yourself for the results. It can be stressful and nights with lots of coffee, but I think you will understand.

the smartest approach would see a good saving in bitcoin and a wise approach for spending it. probably this could not appear as the best answer in a speculation thread but as newbie don't stress to find the right moment and blablabla. Did you spend FIAT based on change with USD OR EUR? No. You spend because you need to spend it, not really because "is convenient". Probably with bitcoin there is a message of prosperity by using and hodling the coin. You have not a pressure due inflation and devaluation of human work/FIAT currency. If you consider the all other advantages that you have by adopting bitcoin (likewise a free indipendent/reckless storage ) definetely holding is really convenient and somewhat easy to do.

Human nature is prone to change. When you have already made an investment plan for a certain time frame or price that has been reached, you might make adjustments when you do not really need the money. But when you need money, you will not hesitate to sell your Bitcoin even if it has not reached the price target you desire. Investment plans are certainly important, but you also need to consider ways to secure the investments you make. Buying is not difficult, but maintaining investment assets according to your plan is what is difficult.

Buy when the market is bearish, you can sell when the market is bullrun, both of which have a long period of time you to decide to buy gradually or called DCA, so by selling at a certain target price.
Again not that simple, because it is easy to say sometimes difficult to do, people are always inconsistent this will run for a long time, which is definitely your goal long libertine investment, buying with your own observations does not matter, buy the price now even the price of bitcoin will rise later.
Bearish season more people are buying, in addition, many retail investors are frantically selling at a loss.

If you are planning to invest in bitcoin for long term, then just make use of DCA strategy to accumulate bitcoin, when making use of DCA strategy, you don’t have to start checking charts, or waiting for bitcoin price to dump before buying. The only people that are suppose to be monitoring the charts are day traders, and short term investors, any slight movement in bitcoin price might end up affecting them, but long term investors are not always affected by price movement.
You need to grow a thick skin also if you want to invest for the long term. There are sometimes that the market may want to trigger you into changing your stance of the market, but you shouldn’t be moved by such as they’re all traps to make you take profit at a loss. The DCA strategy when employed during investment really helps a lot in the long term outcome of the market. It makes you have your price averaged between your highest buying price and the lowest one. So this doesn’t push you to make decisions that will affect your portfolio in the long run. The DCA strategy is very simple but when you begin to think much and doubt too much, you won’t get to make the best out of it. Short term investors and traders think similarly but not all the time as they also make mistakes that affects them sometimes into settling for loss even when they try to avoid it.

When you buy Bitcoin depends on your source of income. When your source of income gives you discretionary money, you should start buying Bitcoin. Or if you have discretionary money, you can start buying Bitcoin. Don't forget to gain basic knowledge before starting to buy Bitcoin. How long you keep it depends on your goal. What strategy you are investing in or how much Bitcoin you have set as your goal to save or how long you have set as your goal to save Bitcoin is important. However, it is a good decision to keep it for at least 1 cycle i.e. 4 years. Never sell your entire savings. After achieving your goal, you can sell some part of the investment if necessary.

A short term correction does not necessarily mean that one should sell the Bitcoin. And this is a mistake for them if they are going to sell at this point of time unless that holder bought it when it was still cheap and the correction price is still higher than their bought price. However, even in a bull market. Selling may still be the right choice if they have a important expense that they need to cover. It's the best strategy to have a reason and exit plan in advance so that you don't let emotion drive the decision in a panic or euphoria.
Not an entire exit plan though but a time for selling and that's okay. All of us have different ranges when we've entered and anyone who's selling at profit regardless of the price shouldn't be gaslighted or making them regret to when they're about to do it.
