It is complicated than you think. The reverend from their heart were not lying. Know that politics is different from Christianity.

Africans still have so much natural resources that can make Africa to be a great continent. But what if how our fathers were fooled our governments were also fooled the same way in the present day?

I can not blame only the Whites, I will also blame our fathers and governments for now protecting our future.

We all know the politics in most Christiandom faiths, we like to believe that Christianity is pure but politics is wholly present and runs the Christian race in most churchs or domination. As for the leaders not protecting the people, how could they protect the people when this white folks arrived with guns whilst the Africans used machete ? Am not blaming only the whites for the whole slave movement as most of the African leaders where involved In slave trading but their coming In was inevitable

Quote
Never forget that the Europeans found unfathomable horrors as they colonized Africa, and took the pains necessary to stop those horrors out

For that great service, they were damned by Liberal opinion, which thought it was mean that they paternalistically prevented cannibalism and the like, and enforced that at bayonet point

Thus, decolonization eventually resulted, and so the primordial horrors they had fought so hard to end have been creeping back bit by bit, all in the name of pretending equality exists

Such a tragedy, and a waste

I am talking about Christianity in general. When Christianity came to Africa in the form of the missionaries, they taught us the bible and introduced new things to us that made us deviate from our own culture and tradition. It was too easy for them to deceive us to accept Christainity, unlike how the Saxons refused Christianity but were forced to accept it or be killed.

They brought Christianity but not Spirituality and that will never change. Not to forget how your traditional practices are also being demonised while at the same time, these same demonised artifacts are fetching them billions in their museums. They interfered in the African tradition and also killed too many people in the name of the church and God for practicing their own culture and tradition. Well, it is good news that Africans are waking up to see that the concept of religion was only use to exploit and suppress Africans.

Finally, someone who understands my point. I read through history books and documentaries. It was clear Christianity was not just forced on many nations through violence. Most of the Christian nations in Africa were forced on people using diplomacy. After all, our forefathers were not smart enough to understand the trick, and for that, they were turned away from their true belief. Who knows if what we call ancient tradition is what we could be seen as a religion in Nigeria today. We may be wise now, but we can never rewrite history.

The bible became a weapon more effective and powerful than the gun. A gun can kill a body, but a distorted gospel can kill a a people's will to resist. When you convince a people that their suffering is God's will, you do not chains. They will surely police themselves. They accept accept exploitation as divine ordinance. They will wait for heavenly reward while their earthly inheritance from nature (God) is stolen from them by those who brought the gospel.

It's all history, and one of the major essence of history is so that we know the past, and from there trace our being, and not only that, so that we can also learn and do better. History is good because it helps us probably compare it to the present and probably the future, with Wich we can make possible improvements and adjustment to avoid the mistakes of the past and then build a better tomorrow, thereby re-writing history in a positive way.

History has been well recounted, and we can't kill anyone for the past mistakes that out fathers made. I believe one major advantage the whites had was education which our fathers never had. So they used it as a weapons to rip us and take away so many things. But thats long gone. We are in the present, and I believe we are educated and exposed. We should be re-writing the pages now. Then we ask ourselves, what are our leaders still doing?

Haven know all that transpared in that past, aren't they soposed to build our nations, aren't they soposed to build our country with the resources available and forget about the white man's land? Instead of to build, they are still running there to seek advice, invest there and pay heavy taxes, developing there side while our countries are left underdeveloped and impoverished. I tell you, before it was out uneducated ancestors, but now, it is our educated but greedy leaders that are against our development.

We cannot change history and blame our ancestors for everything. We are doing the same thing as our ancestors, wealth is still being stolen and the thief is none other than the same old thief.
So doesn't that responsibility fall on us too. Have we been able to bring about any change?
Maybe our next generation will also keep blaming us like us and this practice will continue to happen regularly.
No change is coming, as if corruption is not being driven out of Africa or controlled in any way. Those Western countries are developing because of that corruption in Africa.

You're totally right, we the current generation also have a responsibility when it comes to making changes. One thing about history is that it can only explain what really brought us to our current predicament, but can't be the sole answer as to why we are still in this situation.  If today resources are still being misused due to corruption and poor management, then our generation too has a part to play in that.

Otherwise the next generation might look back on us as we look back on those that came before us. To me the more important question is not only who has profited from Africa's resources in the past,  but why Africa is still having trouble to make its resources work for ordinary Africans today.

What ever situation or will I say predicament we are in African, we caused it for ourselves, I have my earlier position, the slave trade in African has happened long ago, should we still duel in that? I think we should move past that, although we can not forget, but we have to move on because the did has already been done, now let's look at the present governments in different African countries, has there been any difference.
What we are experiencing in my country is modern days slavery, a situation where few people come together to share the resources of a nation that is supposed.be used for development and for the benefits of every citizen, Africans have been left to manage whatever they have, or do we need recolonization.

It is complicated than you think. The reverend from their heart were not lying. Know that politics is different from Christianity.
Most of those missionaries were used as a tool of distraction in Africa, church were politicized from the onset of missionaries, the early bishops used the church as  a tool of control and operated within legal systems where church tribunals found people guilty of religious disobedience  and handed them over to be executed either by burning at a stake or beheading, all these were politically backed, so it was a deceitful game from the onset.

I can not blame only the Whites, I will also blame our fathers and governments for now protecting our future.
Our fathers were helpless, the whites brought religion and deceived them, further destroying their unity, and those who remained resolute were wiped off. The novel "things fall apart" tells a real story on how the whites deceived Africans with religion while they took over their resources and politics.
