This isn't about the AI technology, right? I heard jobs lost because of it and you mentioned PayPal, so I bet they find a replacement to some of their employees and that is AI.
I agree. In the past, one who is loyal to his employer might even retire there. Even the sons and daughters of the employers will probably keep the loyal person if their parents (the employers) dies. It truly is a different era now. The new employers will be the kids before and we know they grew in a different environment. For some, it's all about profits and they would not care about loyalty or whatsoever. As long as you are productive, you keep your job. If not, you are gone. We should really get used to that. There are very rare secure jobs now. Civil service is a good choice.

Possible that this is all about AI. Many companies are having layoffs of their employees due to innovation and advanced technology that they have applied to their systems. They let AI take over their employees' jobs to lessen the costs and expenses and to be able to catch up with what's really needed so they can expand and make the job easier and faster than what regular employees deliver. Based on my observation, nowadays, having a long-term job doesn't guarantee long-term stability. No matter how long we've been employed, we should still have other sources of income and backup plans, so when that incident comes, we are all prepared.

There are reasons why there could be massive payoff of staff from companies, some times economic situation can make companies to drop their workers, or even reduce workers salary, because when a company is not gaining an expected profit, it can actually lead to such redundancy. Another thing that leads to redundancy in a company is share holders decision, and interest, in this case they layoff some workers to employ new ones. For instance people can be dropped because of incompetency, age etc. But during playoff, good companies give priority to individuals with good records, and competency because laying off such an important employee can cause set back in the progress of a company.

If you want to find a permanent job or job then you must look for a government job. In this, the tenure of the job is long and you can work for a long time in this job without any hassle, you will not get so much benefit in company based jobs, where you have to spend all your energy behind the work, private companies will give the highest priority to your work. Even after spending so much energy working in private companies, they are laying off employees, they are looking for more workers and making them work at low wages. Private companies always create pressure on the governments.
Job maybe but a permanent one? I doubt that. And if we think about it, even on higher positions, they only have a given term. It is just that it is still possible to re-apply after some time or if our connection (official in higher position) are elected and are sitting in the office again. The good thing about government jobs is the work may not be that tedious and since it is under the government, different benefits must also be automatically incorporated. Though some are still experiencing a long delay in payments. In terms of longevity, private companies are the winner. Even if some starts as contractual but they are giving their best, they have the chance to be a regular too.

Witnessing huge layoffs from employment giants like PayPal, Dell and Uber, something is definitely has definitely change in the job space that's not talked of as much.
For a long time now, getting into a good company brought about the feeling of finding a home. You work hard, stay loyal, climb the ladder, And then expect the company to reward such a loyalty with stability. Well, in today's reality, that is no longer the case.
Working in huge corporation is always high risk of being layoff. Such giant companies always look for opportunity to maximize profit, cut expenses, to improve and innovate. Such giant companies look on employees as on numbers. They dont see personas, they see only numbers and coefficients that can be adjusted. Even if a person is on a high position, worked well for ages, he still can be layoff easily if company consider him as ineffective and exact moment. I think it is a huge mistake for a person to think that if he is hired by giant company, then he will work there forever because that company will forever produce and provide something.

Companies often have targets, shareholders obligations to fulfill, competition, and operating costs to all to navigate. If the numbers no longer make sense then drastic actions need to be undertake.
Personally I don't think it's about the company being evil, but more about incentives. A company can value an employee but still decide that keeping that employee doesn't make economic sense.
A very uncomfortable lesson.
Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.
Well, it should be a tit for tat kind of thing, if a company gives you the treatment of a mere line item of a simple spreadsheet, then the logical thing to do is to respond in kind by treating the same company as your personal high paying ATM machine. Loyalty in corporate organizations is dead, so the best thing for a young person to do if the opportunity arises is to use the resources of the office, such as getting good pay, making them pay for your professional certifications so you can build up your profile and if you get the opportunity, try to network with their high calue clients and most importantly use the office internet to build your own side hustle.

The only thing constant is change so no surprise to things now changing. I think in today's world how to make money is alot simpler, people are making money from streaming online unlike before where the scarcity of the job provided the security that once you get it, you will start seeing yourself level up. If the market before was company vs company competing for attention, nowadays, its company vs a teenager who streams in his room, i will say that has made alot of these cooperations to rethink strategy and again no surprise there and then you have inflation. What these companies would pay you years ago could sustain their employee but of course as the cost of things are getting high, those salaries can only do some much in today's time, the next option would be to lay off the workers.

Loyalty is dead in co-operate organization long before now, but many people have not really accepted that reality, that is why a man will feel betrayed when after giving his all to a company, he was later sacked because they saw someone better. But if as a person, you have already understood this from the beginning, you would have improved yourself to the extent whereby even though you are sacked from your job, you can easily get another one because you are very good at what you do. Another thing is knowing how to market yourself, because if you don't know how to market yourself as a skill person, someone that knows how, will get better offers than you that is more talented but know little in how to market yourself.

Certain jobs have their job security. Government jobs in countries outside US, jobs that require physical labor and jobs that need human intervention fully will never go out of practice. In fact the jobs that are repetitive and dull will be the first to move out because of the AI use.
Hence when one is looking for future prospects, try to get into a professional course that ends up being in such a sector and not writing reviews for a company's blog, AI can do that any day.
Also additional sources of income are necessary, invest in bitcoin and traditional assets to make sure you have some stuff to rely on in case things go further South.

And it's also not just about staying loyal to your company, building skills are also beneficial for you. If you think your company doesn't value you anymore, as long as you have the skills and confidence in yourself, you can always find other place where they can see your value.

That is why I always take a stance focused on my own skills and on increasing my value (as an employee) in the eyes not only of the company I work for, but also of any other company available on the job market. Let’s put it this way: if I take on a task, I start to figure out what skills I will acquire in the process of completing it and how highly these skills can be valued by other employers - and this always motivates me. It also sets a business‑oriented tone that allows me to increase my worth and be more competitive in the job market among other potential competitors for a job.

The aspect of acquiring skills and being financially independent is very crucial. Working with a company for many years and being loyal doesn't mean the person job is secured , because anything is possible .A company may want to reduce its workforce as a result of financial reasons, and may have no other options but to lay the person aside , despite years of loyalty. For this it won't be good thing to put all ones hope in a single company and is risky. When someone is lay off unexpectedly, having a skills and some savings will definitely help them to be able to sort themselves out . Being loyal to ones employer isn't bad but this shouldn't stop someone from acquiring skills or from making saving or stop someone from personal development.

There are still some jobs that are not easy to get, but they are very small compared to the manpower needs of a country. For example, getting a permanent government job requires a lot of hard work and comes with many sacrifices. But as long as you do not commit a criminal offense or become involved in a sexual scandal then it is not easy to lose that job.
The security of the government jobs is much higher than many private jobs but it is very low compared to the population of the country's people needs. The way private institutions and organizations are currently laying off workers in future many skilled manpower will become unemployed at some point if they continue to depend on one job to manage their lives. So in my opinion, in addition to jobs, everyone should be an entrepreneur and it is necessary to build an independent economy through investment and business.

Loyalty alone is never enough to guarantee long term security but I wouldn’t go as far as saying everyone should constantly be looking for the next thing. Some people genuinely need the stability of a job and not everyone has the time or resource to keep building multiple income sources while working full time.
Instead of expecting one employer to provide it for 20/30 years, perhaps security comes from having skills that remain useful, a good reputation and enough savings to survive if the job disappears.
You just nailed it, like I always say, being an employee is slavery because even if you work to the satisfaction of your employer, he may not be able to recognise and appreciate your efforts. Some can go as far as looking for a replacement when you make a tiny mistake in your job. They will forget your years of hard-work and dedication and sometimes they might be having a guilty conscience that despite that you are working diligently, they are unable to reward you. Learning a good skill is better than being under the subject of another. Owning your own business will also give you peace of mind and the exposure you need to succeed.

I agree with you a job whether high paying or low paying can be lost at any time, as there is no guarantee of permanence. Employment can be lost due to the employer decisions or one own mistakes. Therefore, to secure your future it is essential to accumulate capital alongside your job this ensures that if a setback occurs۔you have investment options available. If you have sufficient capital you could even start a business or make investments while keeping your job thereby increasing your income and avoiding financial hardship.Even with a government job, difficulties can arise unexpectedly so it is crucial to plan prudently today for the sake of tomorrow.

If you think your company doesn't value you anymore, as long as you have the skills and confidence in yourself, you can always find other place where they can see your value.
In the job market, job security cannot be ensured by working in an organization for many years. Rather, it is very important to gradually improve your skills and work quality. If an employee tries to learn something new and can solve that problem beautifully by bringing up the real problems of the organization, then his value increases to a great extent. For example, if an accountant is not limited to just keeping accounts but can analyze the accounts and find ways to reduce costs, then his importance to the owner of that organization will increase. Similarly, if a designer gradually improves new software technology or work methods and tries to learn something new, then his skills will increase with time and the chance of losing that job will decrease to a great extent. As an employee, your responsibilities are not limited only to your new skills, satisfying the owner, and gaining the trust of the owner. Therefore, in addition to having responsibility for the current organization, you need to be prepared for your future. If the company values you, you will have the opportunity to work there for a long time, and even if the situation changes, you will be able to use your skills in a new place.

The ultimate skill that will matter in the post-AI economy is the ability to reach out, communicate and do the sale. In the age when the execution of task X can be automated by AI, what ultimately will matter is the ability for people to communicate and trade.
People still need to trust a human being with their problem, and people who work in teams always outpace those who don't.

It's very difficult to choose between government jobs and private jobs and building your own business. The reason is that every type of employment has its own benefits and drawbacks. In government jobs, long-term financial security is the biggest and dominant factor, but what's your opinion about job security or better growth in the private sector? According to my knowledge, in some countries, the private sector gives fast financial growth to its employees, but the actual point of discussion is that the private sector puts a huge workload on employees in the form of targets. Sometimes, in ups and downs, companies reduce their temporary employees, so all workload is put on the skilled employees, but in government jobs this situation is not found. Huge capital industries don't put such conditions on employees and give full attention to their employees even in their declining periods, but in the end, employees' conditions depend on the favorable situations of countries and companies. I think every individual who manages himself comfortably in any government or private sector and has mental peace should continue his job

Nice post I must confess, you have said everything about the reality that is on ground in a labour market. The truth is that there is a shift in the way that people used to view and see job before now, because in today's reality that we are seeing from even among top companies job security is a major issue as we often see even top companies laying off their workers for reasons best known to them. The reason is not too far, and that is the the world is changing and it is affecting virtually every aspect of life today. Just as you rightly put it in your conclusion that people should look beyond getting a job than looking for a white collar job that you can get sacked at anytime. Acquiring a skill that can fetch you a living should be priotized over job.

As business owner i always emphasize to my employees that position (with its recognition, apreciation, benefit thats comes) follows performance. Because company is economy organization as long as value that provided by my employee is bigger than cost to retain my employees than company will retaining employees.Don't take it personally but matter of fact the interests of the company and the interests of the employee are not always identical.
I think each employee has its own asset, they should have skill, experiencs, adaptability. With all they have they will not only become employee but they cecome asset itself, the world is very dynamic each employee should ensuring that many personal capital which make they remain valuable even job in my company disappear. Each employee must loyal to their work which make them build their capabilities that ensure they always have choices.
