We are developing Slithy Tove, which is a fork from Bitcoin Core, and looking for people to try the public beta on Windows and Linux.
https://www.slithy.ioThe mission is to help more kids learn to read. Slithy uses CPU mining and directs 10% of each block’s newly created coins to a literacy treasury. The intention is to use that fund for books and reading programs.
After a successful beta and we are able to prove that everything is working correctly, the plan is to eventually get the coin trading on various exchanges to gain value for the literacy treasury. We'd then like to implement a system where the community can vote on the usage of the funds and sell coins from that treasury to accommodate that.
Slithy Tove has its own proof-of-work blockchain and uses yespower for CPU mining. You can mine with your computer’s processor without buying a separate graphics card or ASIC hardware. We wanted to go this direction to make sure that this project is accessible for more people.
What we'd like help testing:
We'd appreciate reports about installation, wallet recovery and sending test coins between computers. Starting and stopping mining on different hardware would also help. As well as any other quirky or amusing bugs anyone could find. Maybe we'll plan a bug hunt contest for the coming month.
The Windows installers are signed by CS Idea Labs LLC. Windows may still display a download-reputation warning, but we're working on that...
The live launch is planned for November 1, 2026, if all goes well with the beta.. The launch plan has no premine or private sale. Please keep in mind that this is a test network. Test coins have no monetary value. The chain and balances will reset before the live launch, and test coins will not carry over.
