I know some people will correct me or argue that trading is not gambling but with what I have noticed about trading, it is nothing more than gambling. Trading, binary options, options and prediction markets are all gambling but they are modified in a way some people will say they are not gambling. Trading is better than other gambling because there are ways you can make money from it but most traders do not have it and they lose.
Binary option is categorized as gambling under majority of countries' law so it's gambling. Binary option is outright gambling but they propped it as some kind of trading to attract customers who thinks they're trading.
Just a play of word.

But between real trading and gambling there is difference, in trading you don't have pre determined odd and you have no casino, just pure free market, supply, and demands.

The only similarity that trading and gambling has, both can mess up with our funds quickly especially if we are doing them blindly. The risk to lose is always high, and that even pros in trading and gambling aren't excused from losing their money.

The difference is, trading can make more money than gambling if you have reliable skills and strategies, but if what you have is just luck alone, just stick to gambling and forget about trading.
I am sure that nobody has the luck to win from the casino and continue to win big everytime, because of the abstract and unpredictable nature of the concept called luck. But in trading, speaking only of spot trading we can still attempt to do what is right which is buy low and sell high and that will lead to profits in the long run even if slow and steady.

If someone is looking to get rich quickly, they are in for disappointment because no such thing actually exists in the world, legally.

The comparison between gambling and trading comes in because the later also has some luck component present which is true in every endeavor in life.

I don't think it makes much sense to talk about one not being risky. But I think the better question is whether there's a repeatable advantage in making the choice. Even if a gambler has made an informed guess, he may end up losing money due to the odds. Theoretically. A trader can backtest a trade and modify it when the edge appears to be gone. But a trader who does not take the time to do that is just playing the game in his head and is essentially gambling. So perhaps it is more appropriate to draw the line on the basis of the decision making process. Not the type of activity.

The similarity is both trading and gambling use money before they can profit.

The difference is trading has risk management which helps traders control losses while gambling doesn't. Trading are monitoring by the government and almost all country allow trading for their citizens, while not all country allow gambling for their citizens. But trading and gambling are separated by a thin line that confuses people, if someone lose control in trading, they are gambling. But maybe I am wrong.

The similarity is both trading and gambling use money before they can profit.
Another similaty is that they are both very risky. The reason many people do not make it in life is because they heard of people making huge amount of money from trading, they tried it and they are losing. I have many people that have said they stopped trading when they have lost huge amount of money. So trading can be professionally done but most people are not getting it and they are losing money to it like gambling.

Those who heard this were right, but the way they tried it was quite foolish. Because unless you know where and how much room to invest in trading to make a profit and how much leverage to work with, how are you investing so much money? Yes, many people have left trading, some of whom are at fault, some failed, and some were not lucky, which is why people left it. But still, a lot of people are still inclined towards trading, so people are trying their best and learning, and some are trading because of signals and some because of their own analysis. This means that you believe that trading is also a gamble in which money comes in a good amount and when it loses, it ends up costing you in the whole round.

I think it depends on individuals how they want to see trading and gambling. There have been conflicts of opinions from a long time now and yet there are no specific results. Trading and gambling have somewhat similar use-cases but there are still a number of differences which actually makes trading stand out. I am a big fan of trading and not gambling but I still gamble. I would spend most of my time in trading but will still manage to gamble at least once a week. For me, I consider gambling as an entertainment source while trading is serious money.

I would not think twice before gambling out of luck because as we know, luck can play an important role in gambling but I will never risk trading purely on luck basis. There would be some strong research backing every single of my trade.
