Circle and Tether Freeze $318,000 Linked to Bitget Hack

It would make you to wonder why this Bybit hackers decided to send a few of their loot into centralized coins. It could be a test transaction as you said, a little something that they can sacrifice to forfeit.

Tether and Circle were low balled, and weren't fast enough, the hackers moved more than $50 million worth of USDTO, USDT, and USDC, quickly to Eth, and left behind the 318,000 to be frozen, they knew about it, and did move about $19 million worth of USDTO within six minutes of the hack, before Tether could realize it, what was left behind by the hackers was what was frozen.

It’s a tough call, but freezing funds tied to a major hack feels like the right move here. Curious to see how Thorchain handles it though, since their permissionless stance really puts them in a tricky spot.

Unfortunately, Thorchain has refused to freeze it:

But the comparison to Bitcoin or any other crypto is wrong though by Thorchain. And it just reinforce that they are serving criminals like hackers in this case to used their bridge to hide their tracks.

This is actually the sad part here, I think THORchain currently stands at neutral phase and they didn't bothered any transactions came on their platform.

This is the sad part here knowing that there's huge funds stolen from Bitget.

I will not get surprised if in future Thorchain's operation will get seized. Since they became an easy tool to use by criminals to launder their stolen funds.
