Antminer U2 Trouble

I just received my Antminer U2 today, popped it in, and launched GUIminer hoping to get started. However, it was not detected. I probably messed up by assuming that the correct driver would have downloaded. Do I need. To uninstall a driver before downloading the correct one? If so, which driver should I use for Windows 8? Finally, is GUIminer compatible with the Antminer, or is there a better choice? Thanks in advance for helping a noob.

GUIminer is ancient and unsupported.  Both CGMiner and BFGMiner are current and continuously updated mining software programs that support Antminer U1/2.  You'll need to install the correct drivers as pointed to by the previous response.  I have a bunch of U1 and U2's and they are running fine on BFGMiner (win7/64).

Thanks for the help, I think I'm making progress. The green light is blinking and cgminer is running. But, every 5 seconds it just says Stratum from pool 0 detected new block. What does that mean?

That means it is working.

You are receiving new blocks that you can help mine through that stratum pool.
