Since Nigeria became an independent Nation since October 1st, 1960, people who has rulled the country are people who senior the country by age. Nobody who is below the countries age has rulled. It has been a seat for old men. Today again, the country is 66years, and our president, Bola Tinubu is 74 years, born on march 29th, 1952. He is 8 years older than the country he governs since creation.

Children and youths are the leaders of tomorrow? Till when will this fallacy end in this country? I think it's time we use today as a pain in our hearts and get ready to allow people who are born after 1960 to lead this Nation, at least, let's give them a try. Let's try the younger generation.

Today is special, and the pains it brings is unique, and that's why I like it. While we watch the TV or listen to news, and hear people recount where we were, and where we are now, and where we are headed if something is not done against bad governance, am sure it will push citizens to decide in joining hands to vote bad leaders out of office.. Get your PVC. Let's do our part first.

Today marks another Independence Day for our dear country Nigeria. And despite the fact that we are not where we intend to be, we are definitely not where we were many years ago. And moreover, when it comes to that statement that Peter Obi said about "Nigeria" not having anybody born after it's country ruled us as the president of our dear nation, for me, what I think our major problem is we lacking to have good, competent and reliable president who will have the people's interest at heart. Unlike our current leaders, who don't care about the welfare of the citizens. Because even if you elect someone born after Nigerian got her Independence Day, if the people elected into power are not reliable and competent enough to do the right things, we will continue facing the same challenges over and over again.

What is really happy about this independent day?
That a country that gained independence 66 years ago is still struggling with their economy?
No good roads, no quality hospitals with good health facilities, no power supply. Upon that, they are are still into importing more goods than they are exporting. Can someone tell me one thing that is really happy about this independence day.

If not that the Youths of Nigeria are becoming lazy, a heavy protest should have commenced today against the state of the Nation. Insecurity here and there, people are being killed by terrorists daily, NYSC corpers were kidnapped and so on.

The quietness over here is really something else, though it only shows one thing which is that people are gradually giving up on our country, every one anticipation is always that things get better but only to be surprised as how bad things keep getting. I have been asking myself that should this fight really have to be something one have to put his life on the line? Is bad and painful no doubt while it will take an extra mind to make such decision of putting your life on the line for this. Honestly things are really getting out of hand, just imagine how we can't boost of anything good happening in the country, complains everywhere.

I had a plan to take my family out today to celebrate Nigeria at 66 years but after I reflect on what people has passed through in the hands of Bola Ahmed Tinubu I changed my mind. I and my family are at home we are watching a Nigeria movie titled "Pipiro". If I'm not mistaking some group of people are taking the monthly allocation of each of the local government in Nigeria, there is a person that will become the president of Nigeria such a thing will stop gradually. But the people who are embezzling local government funds across Nigeria will never allow such a person to become president and they can do anything to make sure they keep taking local government funds. So for embezzlement of local government allocation to stop people must be ready to match these wicked group of people embezzling local government funds with the same energy they will display during presidential election.

This is not possible, just search online about what the president has done and you will see some good things that he has done. But there are also bad part which people are seeing which is caused by high inflation. I do not like how he also increased tax in a way that he does not want Nigerians to breath. I do not like his time as president but he did some good things.

Brother, this government has done absolutely nothing compared to the resources available at its disposal. Things only deteriorated further, compared to when he was elected. Inflation worsened, security is weaker, banditry is on the rise, kidnappings everywhere, he's borrowing more money in 4 years than Buhari, Obasanjo and Goodluck altogether.

Anyways, people that celebrated the independence are workers who were given public holiday, then the armed force personnels who must salute the flag on days like this, then some schools and political offices. As long as I'm concerned, today is just a new month, there's nothing to be happy about in this country.

We need to celebrate today after surviving all the hardships in this country. But me I don’t even know whether we should celebrate or not because we don’t know wetin our eyes go see under this government for the next five years. I believe say our President will retain his position next year because he is already into power, and I don’t think anybody can challenge that man right now for the presidency.

If we check this matter well, I don’t think this country deserves to be celebrated today. Those who have lost their lives, I mean those who Nigeria has happened to, are just like brothers and sisters to us. As e take be now, it could be us tomorrow.

I don’t even know if the news I heard about the corpers yesterday was true, 20 NYSC corps were kidnapped on their way to the camp where NYSC posted them. So, why are we celebrating this country, when other people are suffering in the bush? We want a safe country abeg.

There is a lot behind this independence we celebrate and those who tried to bring it into reality were all eliminated or voted out and indirectly or dependency kept its way in.

October 1st is always a day mark out for all Nigerian to celebrate her independence and since i joined this community we Nigeria has been celebrating 🎉🥳 this particular day as the best we can by showing our talents by drawing or moulding something that we carry or shows that we are celebrating our independence but in this year which mark Nigeria 66th year anniversary and there are no contest for will to celebrate one another, so that why i making time to create this thread for we to still celebrate 🥂 ourselves, even if there is nothing to hold on to since our president resumes but for the sake of life.

Maybe this year had a little bit of a shift. Either he has personal things to take care of, or there is no sponsorship for the contest. Wetin we d celebrate this time actually? Na insecurities, bad leaders, hunger, bad roads, unemployment, high NEPA tariff, banditry? You see, Nigerians get nothing worthwhile to celebrate in their God-given country.

We can be sad because of the hardship but the initiation of the coastal road is a huge project and nationwide road projects. This can be political but I still know that it's a necessity. He has also increased the minimum wage to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy even though it's not enough for the civil servants but at least he did something to that effect. We hope for a better Nigeria and we also hope for a better leadership. Come next year, it's everyone's civic responsibility to vote wisely and change the government for better. Nigeria shall be great again. Happy independence day to all of us.

Mate do we keep saying all these things, why do you keep defending something you know that's not right, this government has done nothing as far as it does reflect in the life of the citizens, so what workers will use to survive with their families is 70k, are you not ashamed of that statement,

I didn't know that their are people who would be feeling happy for this minimal wage to the extent of using it to justify the good deed of the government, is truly funny, I haven't seen any important thing this minimum wage has made in the life of people in this country, however is not even something that applies for everybody because you must only be a government workers before it applied to you otherwise the government doesn't care how much you are earning outside so what good has it actually made in this country, I wonder the kind of special preference @Decimetre is getting from this government to have been praising them this much.
