It is not a bad idea .. BUT freezing you apps doesn’t fix anything, anyone that have physical or remote access to your device can see your frozen apps.. unless you also hide it and they don’t have any idea on how to check hidden apps.

For the most part, why should people have access to the devices you work with or have your Bitcoin wallets on? That’s a no no. It should be kept as private as possible so no one gets to know if it’s existence on your device. When people gets this idea, of course they would want to find it and that’s a problem.

At the very least, we might not know the level of control of infiltration into how we work with this app would be. It might not end with just locking this app, a lot could be happening behind the scene.

Anyone who understands and know how things are functioning must time would definitely come to say how things works out to play. Of course there are people who may not value it or seeing it as something that is more important to them. But in terms of dangerous situations where you would no longer have that choice you ought to be.
Always take your security conscious because anything is likely to happen at any given point in time.

What about privacy? Many Android phones have such a feature. Someone can decide to have their apps hidden there without anyone knowing. As for someone like me, most of my important apps are hidden there, even though the phone I have all my crypto wallets on, I don't walk around with it. It's kept at home, only to be used when I want to access it.

Yeah that is good move as well, you can have a separate phone or device for your cryptocurrency investment, and then have another phone for your bank transfer apps and other source of information.
Of course you can hide those important file without those apps running on the background, as long as we are putting efforts for security we should as much to also protect them physically at least with this it would help us reduce the risk that could be associated with our investment.

You have a beautiful idea, and I use it a lot, especially for those redundant apps on my phone that could be spying or trying annoying things. I also freeze all my self-custody wallets, and only unfreeze them when I want to use them. This will definitely help you against those who could hack your phone and want to control it remotely, but certainly not from those who physically possess the phone, as that is now part of their targets, including the ignoble Nigerian police.

But note, freezer app has been compromised before. You should be careful with the one you use and note that you are still trusting a third-party with your security.

I completely agreed with you.. of course you are right but haven't you heard about phone gotten stolen and their money were wiped off from their account?

If your phone get stolen, people can still find it hard to just wipe away your money if you have multiple security checks activated. If you freeze the apps, they can search to locate the app and unfreeze it. People are very smart now, they can explore every means possible to succeed but having extra layer of security can delay their plan and you might be able to block their attempt in time. For banking apps, it's easy for them to reset your pin if your sim is on the same stolen phone. The best practice I always advised people is to always have a separate phone where they keep their main sim for bank and exchange registration. Exchange is even more better because they sometimes restrict transactions after pin and password reset for about 24hrs.

even as Sarz do harassed people by asking people to open their bank app to see how much in their accounts will no longer be possible as you could say you don't have any banking app on your phone. Possibly you can say you do not come out with your transaction phone.

I think this is the best scenario that this can be very useful.

Btw, where can one find this feature? I have checked through my phone but I can't see it yet. Maybe you should include where and how to set it in your op to make it easier for people to set if they're interested.

What is needed for anyone to steal your Bitcoin is your private key's which are required before any transaction can be performed. Even if someone have access to your wallet, so instead of thinking about freezing your apps . We should give much attention in making sure that we protect our private key's which is the key to unlocking the door to your Bitcoin online, even though this is a good security measure that people can apply  but, I don't think that, it important or needed when it comes to Bitcoin investments. App freezer can help you keep some apps such as wassup, Facebook and even some private videos that you don't want people to see as the apps can be frozen but even at that, you can even put security such as password to luck any of your apps such Facebook , wassup and even banking apps before anyone can have access to it. So the idea is good but not necessary at this present time.

I understand the point you are trying to make.
We can also lock our apps especially crypto exchange apps, email apps, 2fa apps, bank apps and other important apps that way it will be harder for a hacker or intruder to Snoop into our devices and look for information.

App freezing isn’t really an optimal bitcoin security strategy in my opinion, even though it might be useful to some extent.
Freezing your wallet application is not gonna fundamentally secure your private keys for you, what it does is that it just makes the app harder to access and that’s why earlier, i said it might be useful to some extent but the truth is that if that phone gets compromised in any way or someone somehow manages to get a hold of a potential victim’s wallet seed phrase/private keys, freezing the wallet app is not gonna solve jack shit.

I’m not saying all these to dismiss your opinions OP, I’m saying all these so that it will serve a deterrent for people who might feel it is okay to treat this app freezing suggestion as the main security measure for their wallets rather just an additional security layer.
The priority for them should be to protect their seed phrase/private keys, and also securing their device itself with a strong passcode.

App freezer is good at hiding your mobile apps from third parties. But however, it's still not one Bitcoin security measures, as some app freezer might prone your Bitcoin at a greater risk if you mistakenly happens to download the wrong one on your phone. So instead of downloading and hiding your Bitcoin app with an app freezer, it's better you just uninstall the app from your phone if you notice you happens to find yourself in an environment where robbers rob people by searching what money apps they have on their phones.

These are valid points but with the case of the bank app, there is no need to freeze the app when it's something that is always in use on a daily basis, it's best to set a 2FA to secure your earnings and save you the stress of freezing and unfreezing the bank app.

Freezing the app does not mean freezing the account, and it's not like some security measure is required to unfreeze the app, someone with that knowledge can still easily get access to your bank and wallet. Freezing the app without proper security is not really worth it, either bank or wallet.

There is no need of relying on this options as one of the effective ways to hide or secure your bank apps and wallets. With a good security measure on their bank apps and wallet, an intruder without device cannot still have access to it to move your funds. While using banks apps on phone, even if a person knows your password and can see your account history, it doesn’t automatically means they can withdraw money from your account without your withdrawal pin.

There is one thing I noticed many people do on their bank apps, enabling biometrics for withdrawals which is not a good security measure. A person that has access to your phone password can easily use that as alternative during withdrawals and this can make you lose your money immediately. Only use withdrawal pin known to you for withdrawals, it adds another layer of security to your bank app even if your password is already known.
