Some critics have claimed that a cryptographically relevant quantum computer (CRQC) could one day destroy Bitcoin, The theory is simple, a powerful enough quantum machine could reverse engineer secret private keys from public keys, allowing hackers to steal funds and falsify transactions.

Is this something we have be worried about?

The real danger is you not doing your own research, there are many threads about the Quantum topic, be it threat or hype there are so many thread where you can contribute or get information from already from the forum.
There is no juice to be squeezed out again from this topic just spams because the is already so much given on this quantum thread.

Do make sure to use the search engine to know whether a topic has been discussed before or not on this forum; this is just a repetitive version of what has been consistently discussed in the past. If I search the forum well, I should be able to bring up more than 10 topics that talk about the quantum threat to Bitcoin.

This has been extensively discussed and is something that we all are well aware of. Technology will always advance and same as security, anything that can't change this will fall and Bitcoin is not like that,  take your time and go through the links shared, no matter the feedback enjoy the knowledge shared.

This an important distinction cause having to say that quantum can break Bitcoin can make it to sound like every Bitcoin wallet it immediately at risk, the biggest concern is when public key is being exposed, and quantum computer powerful enough can use it to work towards recovering the private key. So whether quantum computers will become powerful it not the only real   Issue. This can be a practical threat if weather Bitcoin can upgrade it cryptography. The technology itself doesn’t automatically mean Bitcoin is finished, if there be enough time to move to quantum resistant methods.

If you don't know what's your real thing with bitcoin, then this is something you should worry about. First and foremost, know how to deal with bitcoin and be aware of the security remedies that will make your funds safety and secured 24/7. Never use an address that has been used already, but stick with Native SegWit address that has not exposed your public key before.

You know, the quantum threat to bitcoin is not the real danger here, but the fact that you don't know how to prevent this from happening in your account makes it the most threatening and scary one.

Well, I haven’t really seen that much Bitget spam but i guess , we won’t stop dealing with these particular threads about QCs till the QC becomes  no threat in any way.

Anything that will destroy your bitcoin will always bring real danger. And its actually a common threat for bitcoin that any time scams or hacks will be possible especially if you are still that less knowledgeable on how to protect your account from all those scammers waiting at the corner.

However, this quantum case carries different level of threat to those who have been here in the market for long assuring security and protection into their bitcoin at any cost. They still see it a real danger, but they don't worry that much because they know already how to combat these kind of issues concerning bitcoin.

I suggest op locking the thread, what exactly was the plan probably bringing it here might cause panic and then people start withdrawing their bitcoin holdings.
Fair enough, bitcoin has always had competitors no doubt and I think is best for the growth of bitcoin, I hardly come across news like this except for post like such made here in the forum.
If this false claim were true as portrayed by the op, I’m sure a lot of bitcoin holders will start facing difficulties in relation to the post. While this is not going to happen I think people should avoid updates like this, informations like this will not do any good.

OP just want to give exposure to that link that he's attached to the discussion. We know that there have been a lot of so called 'threats' in Bitcoin but where are they right now? no matter what they say about it and give so much fud, bitcoin stands in the test of time and remains to be one of the assets with a strong security if not the most.

Real danger or just hype, I guess it differs to every human investor that is holding bitcoin. Every investor should be responsible enough to acquire thorough research and learn from the past mistakes of early investors, not to confidently invest and hold without real security measures because that will definitely become a threat to the outcome of their investment.

But every tool that aims to steal and destroy our hard-earned money will always end up a threat. The reason why we should always stick with responsible investing and follow the security measures that comes with it.

By how the development is going the quantum resistant upgrade might arrive before 2030 which is supposedly the deadline when quantum vulnerable algorithms become deprecated by NIST.

Is it likely to happen? I would say no - unless the Bitcoin core developers are literally as they
say "asleep at the wheel" and are oblivious to the future concept of Quantum Computing.,
thats how it COULD happen.

Its not like quantum computers are magically going to appear at some point in the future
and literally create financial havoc. We have been talking about the "threat" for about the last
4 years.
