NAFDAC is trying its best, it is Nigerians that should not have the act of wickedness. In May and July 2026 over 7000 fake products are known. There was a time NAFDAC reported removal of over 10 million doses of fake malaria drugs this year and so on like that. Many people are arrested and sent to prison because they are producing fake products. There are many illegal manufacturing places that NAFDAC shut down every time.

There is a NAFDAC number on every products, you can verify the product through the product NAFDAC number on this link:
https://registration.nafdac.gov.ng/Home/
https://greenbook.nafdac.gov.ng/

Make sure you read any disclaimer or warning on the products certified by NAFDAC.
NAFDAC is working or trying to be active enough to combat enough Fake drugs in the country, but the corruption in Nigeria outweighs their efforts. Police isn't helping matters, even NDLEA. They know those Chemist shops selling the fake drugs, but instead of going after them, they collect bribes and lock up. Unregistered drugs are what dominate the streets. There's this app that is used to validate drugs NAFDAC certifies "Com-Watch" but before you see the drugs that it certifies, e go hard and wetin dey do you fit don kpai you by then.

Because of the high rate of corruption in the country, nobody cares if there are fake products moving around, the see the high rate of drug addiction among young people, you also see fake drugs carried everywhere, and NAFDAC does not checkmate all this things. Sometimes they actually identify some of this fake drugs but instead of arresting this people they collect money from them, and allow them to go scot free. There are many chronic diseases caused by the consumption of this fake drugs, and you see many young men misbehaving in the street, and I really think if this government agency on drugs is really working, there would have been sanity among many young men.

A lot of us might have come through circulating videos on social media about fake products that are being sold to people and I begin to wonder if NAFDAC has been dissolved or they are still functioning?. It is really painful that we find ourselves in a country that jeopardise the lives of her citizens if not the NAFDAC boss should have been sacked. There are many fake drugs, fake drinks and fake foods that are sold in this country but we have an agency that their duty is to checkmate the use of foods and drugs and identify fake and substandard products and possibly ban them.

Kidney disease and heart disease has been on the increase in recent, could it be that the consumption of fake foods and drugs aggravated these health conditions?

It’s very unfortunate that we live in a country where the lives of the citizens are being gambled with. The people in leadership positions hardly get affected by the effects of these fake products, so they wouldn’t bother to tackle the problem. Sometimes I wonder why we keep allowing people who don’t care about the masses keep ruling us. A development that should have received an urgent attention, but won’t because they don’t care. If the government don’t want to do anything about this soon, the masses will have to take it upon themselves to make sure they fish out those that are flooding our markets with fake products, because we are the ones suffering directly from it.
