It would be interesting if and how the game theory in this case could "realign" to the "digital cash" narrative.

Personally I am quite open to the possibility that BTC is both ‘digital gold’ (SoV) and ‘digital cash’. Different people value different aspects of the same system.

At its L1, Bitcoin is an extremely scarce store and settlement of value with strong finality. There is nothing to prevent people continuing to HODL BTC in that way. This need not change (necessarily) if the ‘digital cash’ narrative grows stronger, and those two narratives need not be zero sum I do not think, game theory does not require strong winner to a narrative to preclude an alternate narrative.

Through LN and other L2's, it might make sense to use BTC for small value retail transactions, so the ‘digital cash’ aspect of the coin may become stronger.

Bitcoin brand strategy in what sense? Brand strategy can be in different aspect while bitcoin as a digital coin don’t need any form of branding.
How people view bitcoin in relation to the market movement shows how far bitcoin growth is progressing either viewed as an asset, digital currency. Being concerned about the negative comments still will not change anything and no level of branding will ever convince these set of people otherwise bitcoin growth, bitcoin is a decentralized digital coin and needs no high level of ads though people nowadays do create awareness and it depends where and how this information is being passed to others. After a deep research and development for a long period of time they get to understand bitcoin without anyone trying to force the idea of bitcoin on them.

[...] those two narratives need not be zero sum I do not think, game theory does not require strong winner to a narrative to preclude an alternate narrative.
I agree with this. The "ideal branding" could be a "hard type of money which can be used both for saving and for spending" and indeed I think it's not a zero sum game. [1]

My last post was more related to the "real" evolution of the "branding process" we have seen in the last 5-10 years, let's say from 2017 to now. In these years, the "store of value" aspect was promoted very strongly by several groups with different interests, while the "digital cash" aspect has stagnated.

I think in the last 1-2 years or so the "digital cash" narrative might have had a small renaissance (I see much more Bitcoin-accepting merchants now, even if it's not talked about much in the Bitcoin community, see this thread for example), but it is too early to confirm if this can direct the "branding process" into the "cash" direction again. Volatility reduction is another aspect which could help to strengthen the "cash" aspect, as people would be more willing to spend and accept a more stable asset in a more natural way, instead of acting guided by fear and greed.

[1] Already some years ago I heard the narrative that "spending was bad because it harms the SoV story". In theory, every payment made with Bitcoin is indeed a market sell order (only against a good and not against fiat or altcoins). But it also implies a merchant was willing to take it as a payment and "buy" the BTC. Even if we take into account payment processors, there's always a tendency for these "payment orders" towards an equilibrium, so we can't say that "spending Bitcoins means the value will go down".

You can always have your own strategy to make people like bitcoin, but in general, I don't think a brand strategy is still a must. Instead, let the people be more educated about bitcoin so they won't easily fall believing on speculations that they only want to hear.

Bitcoin is decentralized, its pro-people but not against the traditional fiat itself and its centralized government. Rather than seeing it as a competitor, it's more safe to see it as an alternative to fiat.

Even if we take into account payment processors, there's always a tendency for these "payment orders" towards an equilibrium, so we can't say that "spending Bitcoins means the value will go down".

That being said, getting payment to be more convenient is no easy task either and perhaps an even greater challenge then convincing users to HODL and check the price.

Its shortsight to see spending as being bad for the SoV narrative as it ignores what will happen to merchant adoption. If people are only going to buy BTC and never spend it merchants would be less incentivised to accept it. This does not mean spending BTC means people have less confience in it as people will need to pay bills. If merchants then HODL it would create some demand.

I agree with you. Actually there is no need for separate branding for Bitcoin. Bitcoin itself is not a company, it does not have a controller or anyone will conduct business through Bitcoin for which separate marketing for Bitcoin will be needed. Behind the popularity of Bitcoin till today there is an important feature of Bitcoin. And the most important feature behind this popularity of Bitcoin is that Bitcoin has given freedom to people. People can select the option of their choice as to how they will actually use Bitcoin. Which is not possible in fiat currency created by the government.

This is why there is no need for marketing for Bitcoin, no branding is needed. The popularity of Bitcoin is increasing due to the rules and regulations, decentralization and fixed supply of Bitcoin. But if someone is interested in knowing something about Bitcoin then he can be given an idea. But there is no need to promote Bitcoin without any reason.
