This is not a drill: So, Dread has been hacked! What's next?

It appears that Dread, the longtime darknet forum, has been hacked. The premium (donors only) domain remains online, but the primary domain seems to have been hijacked. The following message has been posted on the main domain by the apparent hackers. We will follow this case as it develops.

I hope it goes without saying that no one should sign up for any website or service promoted by the attackers. In fact, most users should not visit this domain again until this has been resolved.

The attackers statement in full:

For those of us that do not partake in the dark web, why is the loss of a single forum so bad?   Is it like the loss of reddit, or like the loss of bitcointalk?

It's like the loss of Bitcointalk, if there was no good reddit sub or other alternative. Dread has been reliable for over 8 years, helping spread the word about shady markets and vendors. There is nothing else even close to it.

Nexus Market went offline this month as well.

I suspect Tor is getting a big taste of the AI war.  Everyone and their dog can scrape data now, and one mistake is all it takes.
