I see this as a good development, as instead of encouraging people to gamble even when there are signs of addiction, this approach could help address problem gambling.
But these regulations have not been finalized yet, I hope they will push through.
Let's see how far this could go and if the majority will support to endorse the regulation on the use of AI promotions of gambling or not, brass on what I will have to say regarding this, I will not kick against gambling because it is entertainment, but the issue is how do we mitigate the effect of gambling addiction or abnormal behavior with those that are concerned, which is where I expect the government to come in and provide a solution and not be restriction, you can also consider under each gambling as what should be prevented.

If online gambling platforms use AI to store and retain all the information of a user, then it will definitely have a negative impact on gambling for the gambler. I think that the use of AI should definitely be avoided in gambling platforms, otherwise it can cause serious harm to gamblers. In this case, the regulatory body must fulfill its responsibilities properly. If gambling platforms try to use this AI in the hope of increasing their profits, then it must be considered a crime. But the problem is that how much it will be possible to control it is the main issue. Those who are running the platform are definitely ready to do anything for their own profit, if they are not controlled, the gamblers will suffer the most. New York's position on the side of gamblers is certainly admirable.

The question is whether sportsbooks would really develop AI to detect the gambling behavior of their customers and stop them from gambling. Because it doesn't make sense, you are running a business to make a profit, and your main source of income comes from people gambling, so when you see people gambling who could potentially increase your revenue and you decide to stop them.. this seems contradictory to their business goals. That is why they need to be regulated. If the government does not step in, the gambling business will exploit their customers to the extent that we will have more addicts roaming on the streets It is not wrong for sportbooks to make use of AI, but the problem is that they will not focus more on protecting the gamblers with the AI they have developed. Just like you said, it will bring them no profits. Except in cases where the AI tool may be used to detect unusual activities and possible abuse. Gambling makes people vulnerable, so it is very easy for gamblers to be exploited if they are being targeted with the help of AI. Yea, I am in support of this restriction.

Instead, they want sportsbooks to take a responsible approach and that is when if AI detects signs of problematic gambling behavior, rather than sending more offers, sportsbooks should take appropriate action to help protect those players.
Casinos had VIP programs for years now and a VIP customers would have their manager who sends some promotion infor and invitations and also handles other activities for the customer, my question is, were the casinos using AI to be able to know customers that spending more money on the casino? Even without AI, casinos had their tools that they have been using to know the customers that plays very often, they know customers that lose a lot, they literally knows all loyal customers and pays more attention to them, so I don't really see how this new implementation will make the casinos to want to prevent customers from problem gambling, have they really cared about it even when they know the gamblers that are losing a lot of money in their casino? What they only tell you is that, you are not permitted to gambling if you are below the gambling age, nothing more than that, I have not seen a casino advising people to risk only what they can afford to lose.

This is an interesting proposal and, if implemented, could be useful in combating gambling addiction. It will be necessary to establish what the signs of addiction will be that will trigger the "detection" so that the AI can then decide what to block or not. I still think that a good portion of the revenue will be lost to false positives. We have gamblers who bet large sums and gamble daily, but who are not necessarily addicted.

If the casino really analyzes users activities and can manipulate the results then this is a disaster for users. Users never want a casino to monitor their activities or do anything to their gameplay that changes the results of the game. I have already been very annoyed because of Google's algorithm and I think they are always listening to us because whenever I say something and go to search for that topic as soon as I type the first few character it appears in our search suggestions which is normally not possible. If something like this happens with a casino then I don't think I will ever play games at that casino.

Artificial intelligence needs to be regulated and if the government fails to regulate it, their will crazy gambling ads that can easily increase the gambling urge of players mostly for those that are struggling with addiction. All states need to ban gambling focus ads to limit the rate of addiction from gamblers.

I find this a good move by the government, with the growing popularity of AI now, the data it collects can easily be used against people or for the benefit of a certain business. In the gambling industry, if sportsbooks use AI on their platforms to analyze gamblers' behavior, they will understand their betting habits and know exactly who to target with personalized offers. But the New York State Gaming Commission seems to recognize this risk, which is why they are proposing restrictions on the use of AI for targeted gambling promotions. Instead, they want sportsbooks to take a responsible approach and that is when if AI detects signs of problematic gambling behavior, rather than sending more offers, sportsbooks should take appropriate action to help protect those players. I see this as a good development, as instead of encouraging people to gamble even when there are signs of addiction, this approach could help address problem gambling. But these regulations have not been finalized yet, I hope they will push through. How can they protect these players? Ban them? Send them to a psychologist? I don't think that would work. Also, casinos aren't interested in such "protection." Even if they're required to protect gambling addicts, they'll do their best to minimize it. Still, it's a good idea. At the very least, it will reduce the promotion coming at me from everywhere.. The sheer amount of it is starting to make me angry.

I was watching a youtube interview video yesterday between the Why Files guy and Mr Ballin... I noticed that the advertisement reads during the video were little funny skits that cut in and out of the host doing his ad read. The entire thing was AI. The lips didn't match the words, the skits were hilariously bad... It was shocking to me. Influencers are going to start not even being real soon. I'm not sure the world is ready for what is coming.

On the first place why will any one thinking about going into the gambling sector, casinos to be particular be using A.I. Even now that game's are developed using computer programming it's very difficult for gamblers to catch out money when gambling, so any casino that wants to be powered via A.I is just wanting to be greedy and highly unfair to the rest of the gambling world. So I welcome this type of move as it will bring confidence to gambling. Just imagine your self gambling against AI , it will be insane and unwise to do so by any gambler no matter how good such a person may be.
So this move by the authorities in new York is a welcome development, which is in the best interest of the rest of the gambling community because, gambling should be made free from any thing that will make it to be unfair which the presence of A.I powered casinos will introduce to gambling, if this type of moves are not taken it will soon become a norm by every casino.

Why just gambling, what about banning the personalised ads from Google, which also use AI to collect data and send us the details of the product that we are looking for, it is a crime too right? These kinds of things are not realistically possible to enforce, what if the sportsbooks claims they are not using AI to analyse the betting patterns and send promotional emails or even they can say that they only do that to find the cheapers who are trying to exploit the bugs.

AI should be used to aid people, not to exploit them and bleed them dry, ruining their finances. If AI is used to help players with gambling problem or detect players who have signs of uncontrolled urges to gamble, they can minimize player that gets addicted to gambling. It is like fixing the problem even before it get too serious. On the first place why will any one thinking about going into the gambling sector, casinos to be particular be using A.I. True that, still it is good for the New York State Gaming Commission to see the problem and propose to implement how these AIs can be used to help gamblers. Yeah, when it became the norm, we will be seeing a lo more people getting addicted to gambling.

In my opinion, main problem isn't even use of artificial intelligence itself, but what exactly sportsbooks are going to use it for. And I seriously doubt that all operator would voluntarily give up that opportunity just for sake of responsible gambling. Such decision should involve additional check and player should have right to appeal them. Artificial intelligence in gambling industry shouldn't be used just to increase operators' profits, but also to protect player, especially those who are already starting to lose control over their betting habit.

That's a good step that can be used to reduce the potential number of gambling addicts which could increase due to irresponsible promotions... Just imagine that when an account is flagged by AI because it is indicated to have more frequent gambling activities, and receives more promotions from the casino.. It can make them gamble even more, and making it harder for them to control their spending and potentially turning them into gamblers.. That is quite irresponsible, because it is like the casino is subtly leading them to gamble more with their various offers.. At least with this regulation it can prevent casinos from using AI for irresponsible things like this.

I saw this post and was glad something like this came up because it seems winning has become so much more harder these days with AI assistance mostly for the gambling companies that could afford the more sophisticated automation software of AI. Gamblers often times do complain about frozen accounts or account restrictions being flagged and it's as a result of AI inclusivity that has been employed and not to talk about the promotions that seem so good to be true targeting specific players and with this move, it would in proper terms level the playing field because players have suffered too much from pressure and they need safety in this regard. Perhaps this would help curb addiction in a way. Most of these gamblers lose it because of AI sophistication that makes it more difficult and they don't realize this on time because there's always the hope a gambler has to win, hence the increase in activities which leads to addiction.

It's a good approach but the question is how effective is it going to be and how strict can the regulators can be with the approach, as not all providers and casinos are going to adhere to the rules. We have discussed casino having a feature that can detect and prevent players from possible problems gambling which the argument was surrounding casinos being too focused on profit-making than trying to help players.

I’m surprised people actually believe casino creators have the power to regulate gambling activity either in an abusive form or gambling moderately. The use of AI can be used in a helpful manner although regulating addiction is not part of the plan meaning AI cannot achieve this goal, I understand AI can be used as a support system in tracking every data while this is possible it depends whether the gambling site will control gambling activity totally. Definitely we all know the first aim of every gambling platform is to keep gamblers glued to the site, AI is very helpful reason why the New York State gaming commission wants to help gamblers with addiction problem by offering less when a gambler is already losing much.

This step by govt was long overdue. you know we are already losing everything to addiction of gambling. On top of that tech giant and bookmaker are now using artificial intelligence to track people's online activity. When we gamble, these greedy platform keep record of every click we make and exploit our vulnerability. They analyze who has money and what trigger desire in whom, using AI to specifically target us. It is excellent that New York State Gaming Commission has proposed strict regulation and ban on use of AI for such predatory practice. I also think, instead of using AI to set gambling trap it should be utilized to help save those who are gripped by gambling addiction.

Business is built to make profit; we can’t really deny that. There were also some arguments some years ago that the gambling industry makes more money from addicted gamblers than responsible gamblers. This will be hard to regulate, but the casinos, if they really want to serve the community better, should try to develop what will promote what they preach, like responsible gambling. It's not going to lead them to bankruptcy, as the system is already built in favour of them, but greed will never allow them.

For now, this is only being pushed in the state of New York. In the rest of the country gambling companies could still make use of AI powered-promotions and targeted advertising in order to get people to gamble more than they usually do. It would take a federal law in order for the whole United States to work under those rules when comes to the use of AI in advertisement, not only being limited to gambling and betting. This kind of technology could be used to prompt people to eat more at certain restaurants, buy specific products more often and consume more bad quality food (junk food) at malls, and so on. This is something which needs to be implemented in many other industries. As sometimes advertisement is intrusive.
