Politics is a game of number, where majority people in a society influence the decision making in the society.
Before we talk much concerning politics and the influence the citizens have over the decision-making process, this is where we must first consider the kind of leadership pattern a particular country is running, if it is autocracy or democracy pattern of leadership, this will give us the direction to know if or whether they people also have their right to support on any development or kick again it. Autocracy and democracy have no difference in present day politics. The leader pays people to vote for them, they win, they dictate the rules, and enforce the laws all by themselves in the name of democracy. Meanwhile, this is the pattern most common in autocracy system of government. We need serious enlightenment in Nigeria. For changes in the government to take place, the system need to be studied.

Nice topic but next time try to keep a space in between your write up to make it look more better than it is. However, political game in our country has become a total different thing all together. The game has been so bloody as if it's one kind of war, that politicians can do literally anything just to get into office. And once they succeeded in gaining their way into power, the citizens lives has automatically becomes nothing in their eyes. They easily forget all the numerous promises made before asending into office. They in turned see citizens as an enemy that doesn't deserve to benefit from their own country. What more will I mention. Is it democracy? Which is been addressed as the government of the people? Of which I'm sure that even citizens has no say. Because once you speak against any evil made you risk serving a life sentence. To crown it all, there is just nothing pure in the system, hence nobody get involved in politics in Nigeria and remain the same.

One of our major problems here in Nigeria is political god-fatherism. People come into politics and do according to the instructions of those who has put them there. Even when they know it's wrong, they have to obey the last order of there political fathers, before you know it, things are getting bad. Some of them weren't bad people like that, but bad politics has made them completely bad. With money, they can penetrate any system and get away with there crimes. That's why good virtues are no longer rewarded but wickedness is the other of the day. We just need to practice true democracy, else, we will get more bad

Why won’t the executive arms have control over the judiciary arm when it’s the president who nominates who will be the chief justice of the federation. Even if the senate have hands in the appointment they certainly also can’t go against the appointment of the president because they are working as one political party. The political system of Nigeria has become a mess, it consist of manipulative strategies to win elections and occupy political positions. It has turned into a donor die affairs just to win elections and occupy political offices, those who occupies the offices turn it into their family affairs and keep controlling the system even after they leave offices. masses can’t speak up and hold their leaders accountable because their votes have been bought with money

First, is there anything built or meant for the weak? Obviously not. Everyone is worried how we are plagued with evil people. Something tells me there is someone somewhere that is not the president that want Nigeria to move forward.
Benefitting from people's suffering. You can think of the history and observe which race gained more from people's suffering and try and bring that thought in today's world. Mind you, they can't use that system to gain again. There will use another method. If you still don't grab the concept, then you are like every other Nigerians lost as if there are no good people in the country. Who benefits more from suffering of Nigerians or Africa at large. Let's put that thinking cap to rest.

One ugly thing about politics is that politician will do anything to remain in power rather than serve the people. Politicians don't really need to be ruthless before they can become successful in politics. Democratic system of government was supposed to give citizens the power to choose those who will represent their interests and to hold them responsible if they fail to serve the people well. Protecting the right of citizens is only possible if all the institutions are doing their duties diligently. citizen also need to play their role, such as electing a credible leader through election and holding them accountable at any time. The people may not actually benefit from their leaders if the institutions aren't working, and citizens fail to carry out their role. As a result the leaders will be serving himself instead of the people.

The state of Nigeria is very bad and as we are blaming the leaders, even from the grassroots, corruptions strives there. If we cannot kill corruption from the root, then we will keep breeding bad leaders that will steal away our children’s future too. Corruption is a very big crime and has a very big effect on the development of a nation. Today, Nigeria youths are being built with the mindset of corruption. Once they get up, they want to take their own share too forgetting the interest of the people that put them in those positions. There is this saying that Nigeria is a national cake, once you get there, take as much as you can. With such mindset, nothing can change about the state of Nigeria and corruption will continue to thrive.

Don't give up yet, things can actually change for the better. This mindset that corruption in Nigeria can't be eradicated is the reason why they haven't been any change yet. We give up so soon and that's the problem, you don't give up on your country because the moment you do that, things will only get worse that it was before. Our leaders are not invincible, they may be in charge of the armed forces, police and Nscdc but the real power is the people. Power belongs to the people, this is why, politicians can't get into power without seeking the supports and vote of the people. This is democracy, we can remove any politicians from office, be it the president, governor or senator when we are united with our vote.

Politics in this country has been different from other countries in Nigeria a candidate will announce it publicly that if he doesn't win the election it will be bloodily. What a deserter and person will go through it without facing any consequence of his words going forward to politics in Nigeria you need to convert your heart to Steel because there's alot going there.

I totally agree with you that politics is not for the weak, in a country like Nigeria, you need to be very tough and ready to do whatever it takes inorder to win elections, if you're playing a gentleman's politics you will be sidelined and it doesn't matter if you have capacity for the position that you are seeking political office. Winning elections is not only about being qualified it is about who you align with and if you are willing to do the biddings of the corrupt cabals that runs the government from behind the scene you will have a higher chance of winning.
In elections some candidates are planning for free and fair election because they know that majority of the masses will vote for them, the corrupt politicians knows it and they will rig the election by all means. If the popular candidate is "weak" it is better that he doesn't waste his time to contest because he will fail, being strong means that you will be ready to fight injustices which is very dangerous. Corruption has eaten dip in Nigerian politics, I hope that our votes will count in the coming election.

And now, there is a recent situation where the just elected Osun Governor came out publicly to cast his support for President Tinubu and regarding him as his "father", that's explains how he won the election. Politics is a very dirty game and clean people would be eliminated without a second thought. For this same reason, Peter Obi would likely not win this upcoming presidential election, because Atiku is also in the race and has cemented himself as the strongest opposition to Tinubu. We saw what happened in the last election and the same thing is about to happen in the next election, the winner is already decided, we just have to come out and vote. I was sad went I saw the recent video of the government of Osun state openly pledging allegiance and support for the the president because this is the Man we all thought was fighting against Tinubu and the way the election in Osun state was conducted it was as if APC wasn't on ground and the state is secured for the opposition party that will vote out Tinubu come 2027 and it has turned out to be a planned election making fool of the public because if it wasn't a planned election to make it look as if APC is powerless in Osun the governor won't declare support for Tinubu. This country will never get better because all the politicians we have are just corrupt and can't stand by the truth nor do what is right just because they are not affected as the masses. From how Wike the minister of FCT Abuja is bragging on TV channels while granting interviews you will know that they have already written the results for 2027 Presidential election and just waiting for the day to do a mere formality as usual.

In Nigeria today doing many projects and spending a lot of money on the party you belong to before getting any political seat has gradually become their culture, and which is impossible without money, no matter how high quality and trustworthy you are becausen that is when even the leaders of that party will support you. In this country as a normal citizen you have to gather a huge amount of money before thinking of contesting for any position in politics and that is how the people that want to control others use their tactics to sponsor a popular person to get a seat in government.

You made a good point here especially when it comes to the gap between democracy on paper and democracy in practice. In Nigeria, the problem is not that we lack democratic institutions, but that those institutions often fail to perform their duties independently. When the judiciary cannot deliver justice without interference, the legislature fails to hold the executive accountable, and elections lack credibility, ordinary citizens become the victims. However, I don't believe politics must always be a dirty game; what we need are leaders with integrity, strong institutions, and citizens who are willing to demand accountability. The big question is, how can we expect Nigeria to change when the same political system that needs reform is controlled by those benefiting from its weaknesses?
