I realized that because I was earning well each month, I was indulging in more without really noticing it.
So, when you're budgeting, always look at both sides: how much you spend and how much you earn. The latter figure has a much greater impact than most people realize.
I think it's a pretty basic thing to understand for any individual who is earning and managing their finances themselves, because our lifestyle changes based on how much money we earn, and you can't really stop that from happening, changes happen automatically. When you are earning less, you will know you can't afford much, so your mind will automatically make you adjust with normal stuff, but that changes as soon as you start making more money, now your mind knows that you can afford better things, so you start spending more on the same things that used to take less money earlier when you weren't earning much.

This thing isn't limited just to materialistic things, it happens with food and everything else that you do. We all have desires related to every single thing in life, be it our house where we live, the food we eat, the cloths we wear, and the places we go to, and these desires need financing, which is why when we start making more money, we start fulfilling our desires and wishes. If we used to eat whatever we could get in the budget before, we now start eating things that we like eating because we can afford to do that.

This is basically how your expenses adjust based on how much money you earn.

That’s what usually happens. When people start getting their finances in order, the first thing they think about is saving – it’s usually the first step. But if you manage to increase your income after that, you’ll see a boost in your finances, because you’ll already be used to keeping track of your figures and saving, and you won’t fall into the trap of a rising cost of living, meaning you can put the surplus towards further savings and investments.

Some might find it surprising—perhaps even amusing—but I was horrified to discover how much money I spend on beer each month. It’s a truly substantial sum. After mulling it over for a few days, I’ve concluded that it’s time to give up this drink, even though I’ve always been quite fond of it.

Quite simply, my budget just doesn’t add up. I’ll have to either cut it out entirely or at least significantly reduce my consumption. It’s high time I got my personal finances in order—and took better care of my health, too. I’m also considering removing certain other items from my diet that have a negative impact on my overall well-being.

This is how more money more problems plays out  Grin
It starts with you not knowing that you need to keep more as you start earning more.

I also struggles with this but knowing and taking responsibility is how you fix it, if you are used to keepinv $100 for some budget and you started earning double normally you are to start keeping more but something happens that people rather start spending more.

It's better to notice and adjust it, or you won't improve in your savings, what you keep is what you will get even if you are making more money.

It turns out that our income dictates our expenses.  I realized that because I was earning well each month, I was indulging in more without really noticing it.
So, when you're budgeting, always look at both sides: how much you spend and how much you earn. The latter figure has a much greater impact than most people realize.
The way you check how disciplined you are is when you have the means to get what you want and you are still able to have restraint and control over your it. Sometimes, we even make budget on how to spend our income and end up shattering it when wants arises. when doing personal budgeting, you have to look at what you can allow and how you respond to stress because since you are the one that is in control of things, it is most likely that fail when it comes to accountability.

In doing personal budgeting, there is need for proper accountability and some times you might even need an accountability partner that helps ensure that you are following things just as you have outlined it.

This is crucial as the family grows. Like me, we are expecting another baby, so discipline in the budget is a must.

Truly, it is not that easy. Emergencies will happen, and as a family man, you should save for health because the budget can suddenly run short when one or two family members get sick.
Medicines are not cheap, and sometimes they will eat away at the daily budget for the whole family. So, for anyone who is trying to start a family, be sure that you are good at making budgets for everything. We are both working and yet sometimes it's still not enough.
