One of the greatest injustices that the Christian churches do to their people and themselves is regarding the word 'LORD' as it is used throughout our English Bibles. Most of the time the word 'LORD' is made up of a regular sized capital 'L' while the 'ORD' is made up of smaller caps. The reason for this is that when the word 'LORD' is found this way, it refers to the name of God - Yahweh, or YHWH. The Hebrew is not 'LORD'. Rather it is YHWH, and we call it LORD.

In the Old Testament, God told Moses that His name was YHWH, LORD in English, and that this is the name that the people of Israel (the believers) were to use when referring to God: "Moses said to God, 'Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, "The God of your fathers has sent me to you," and they ask me, "What is his name?" Then what shall I tell them?'"

God said to Moses, "I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the people of Israel: 'I am has sent me to you.'"

God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.’"

"This is my name forever,
the name you shall call me
from generation to generation."

We speak in English (or some other language). But in translating YHWH from Hebrew to English, it is "I AM," not LORD. The Bibles of the English speaking churches translate the Hebrew 'YHWH' as LORD, but really it should be translated 'I AM'. Why do we do it this way, a way that is against what God told us to do?

The answer is that we are showing humility (we think), because we think that the name of God is too great to be spoken by the believers. But that is not what God said to Moses. God said, essentially, that the believers should call Him 'I AM', and that when we say 'I AM' we are also saying 'God' the way the believers should call Him, because He said so.

Why might God want the believers to formally call Him 'I AM'? Might it not be that we are one with God through Jesus? And that God would want us to say 'I am' when calling Him by name? When we say I am when referring to God, we the believers are actually speaking/writing what we should be becoming in God. I am.

I am in God, what I really am in soul and spirit. 'I am' attaches me to God the way Jesus says in John chapter 17. Also, I am a god, as Jesus repeated, "You are gods to whom the Word of God comes." Even so, I am, as God is I AM.

Wake up your faith by calling out to God in the way that He wants His people to call to Him. Dear I AM; Dear God. I am god with God. Become stronger in faith by becoming 'I am', by saying 'LORD' this way, the way that God told Moses that the believers should call Him forever... not the way Bible scholars teach us when they tell us to say 'LORD'.

However, speak "I am" in faith in God.
