1) can 0.1BTC get you retired in 30 years to this time for real? Wouldn't that put 0.1BTC at a $1 million?
2) in this world economy now, isn't 0.1BTC something that a 86years old would appreciate as retirement plan than someone in their 30s?
3) the value of 1 BTC will have to be over millions of dollars for 0.1BTC to be meaningful.
Are people just making a big deal out of this 0.1BTC target?
What about you? Do you think that whatever the value of 0.1BTC is in the next 30 years will suit you enough to feel like yes you are really retired with this amount of Bitcoin.

I think the reason behind this advice being common is because $1 million is the target for maby investors that the price of Bitcoin will get to in some years to come hence when you have 0.1 Bitcoin that is a 10% stake of the price Bitcoin is trading at which if it's a million dollars then you have $100,000 which is a very good amount for retirement. Most people would not be able to save that by the time they retire and if you have that then it can help you alot. Not many people have the money to invest but if they can accumulate 0.1 Bitcoin before they retire from their many years of buying Bitcoin then it is a good retirement savings that they have done.

$5 a day for two people is a bit unrealistic - regardless of where you live.  Sure, maybe you can survive on plain rice and dry beans in some rural village for two bucks a meal, but life is more than that.  What about medical care?  Electricity?  Cooking gas?  Rent?  Or the fact that as you get older, your body falls apart and you need all kinds of aids just to survive.

Some facts that make me think $5 a day should be realistic for retirement age in some parts of my country:

- many cities in my country have a standard monthly minimum wage below $150 currently (employees).
- my government subsidizes all utility bills for the lower economic class, and we have abundant sources of clean water.
- the tradition of people in my country that is still widely implemented is living with or close to family relatives (having their own house). Regarding life's needs, they usually support each other. But this tradition is starting to be abandoned in big cities.

Honestly we cannot deny that Bitcoin is a good investment as historical data shows that the price of Bitcoin is increasing over time as the demand for it is also increasing to a greater extent. Note that 0.1 btc in any country may not be the right decision to spend in retirement in the next 30 years because of the current economic recession, most countries are seeing inflation rates increasing and purchasing power decreasing so many people are struggling to meet their basic needs despite earning thousands of dollars, so whether this amount of btc is enough for retirement I think it depends on everyone's financial needs and quality of life.

Anyway OP, there is no saying that ownership has to be limited to 0.1 BTC, so with a long-term mindset, the more Bitcoin one can accumulate, the greater their chances of profit will increase, and it seems right that this will also increase that person's retirement savings.

There are so many videos online encouraging people to get 0.1 BTC, that it's all they will ever need to get retired, is this even real?
This is one of the unreasonable hypes I like to disregard immediately. If Bitcoin was still well under $100, maybe that will still be reasonable, though it's to an extent because the country you reside in matters so well.

Assuming Bitcoin becomes $500,000 in the next 30 years; that's still $50,000 with the 0.1 BTC. This is very small in good countries with a high standard of living. And if it's in a poor country, after 10 years, you would have been feeling the heat as well. Now imagine buying it already expensive.

It's good to just treat Bitcoin as one of your regular investments, rather than thinking it's the financial saviour. Unless you don't want to face the reality.

The common problem with other people is, they think Bitcoin is a cheat code and one method to escape poverty. With that thinking, this is how they start to get disappoint once their target didn't meet and realize that Bitcoin is so volatile, also so unpredictable.

But if they have spare money to use then, targeting 0.1 BTC then just hold it for many years or decades is fine. Since who knows right maybe Bitcoin would hit millions in figure then those small amounts they put might became big in future.

Although they just need to settle up their expectation, since we don't know if that situation would really happen in real time.

A lot depends on any investment dca hodl buy the dip.

Catching the investment at a good time.

If you front loaded BTC at  under 10 bucks a coin getting 25 or 50 coins was easy.

then hodl long enough to cash at over 100k.

that is 10,000 times the investment.

so 2012 to 2025 10 to 100,000 happened

It will never do 10,000 x in 13 years again (barring a big drop and recovery)

So to think 0.1 btc today will be 800,000 in 30 years is not likely.  I do not think BTC will ever pass 8 million price

It may pass 800k in 10-15 years.

I point out New York City yellow taxi cab medallion price.

Historical Price Timeline

Year / Period   Estimated NYC Yellow Cab Medallion Price   Key Market Events
2004 – 2011   $400,000 – $800,000   Steady appreciation; limited supply creates a lucrative investment market.
2013 – 2014 (Peak)   $1,000,000 – $1,320,000+   Individual medallions peak around $1.05M–$1.2M and corporate medallions reach ~$1.32M.
2016 – 2018 (Crash)   $200,000 – $325,000   Rapid market collapse triggered by the expansion of rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft.
2020 – 2023 (Pandemic Lows)   $90,000 – $100,000   Values bottom out; city introduces debt-relief and guarantee programs.
Recent (2024 – Present)   $115,000 – $130,000   Modest rebound (up ~24% over recent tracking) with active yellow cabs numbering around 10,000 to 13,587.

note that was AI from google all bold info.

So you can see there was a time that having a yellow cab medallion was really good say 1,111,111 usd in 2013 or so

and it sucks in 2026 say 125,000 usd.

note the red bold I believe this is where btc is now.

if I am right it is a lock to get to 500k or more in under ten years but that a crash will happen in the 10 to 30 year range.

It was done at the right time, when the price of BTC was still below $1k.
But to exit at the right time and price this will vary and a lot of price speculation takes place that will determine where the main target price will come out.

It's easy enough when you say buy cheap and come out at the right price with a profit of 1000x more,
but about the price target that came to mind in the past, I haven't thought about whether Bitcoin will hit $100k or not.

Because By buying Bitcoin at $800 and the price goes up to ATH $20k that's already a very high price and I think that's the peak.
But looking at it in a few years later, $20k only Resistance then became support.

It's not a matter of how much you can buy it, but how long and sure to hold it long term without being affected by the price fluctuations that occur.
Psychology will really come into play when dealing with a 100x profit or waiting for a 10,000x profit but it is impossible to do for the current conditions.

Here are my own questions about this.

1) can 0.1BTC get you retired in 30 years to this time for real? Wouldn't that put 0.1BTC at a $1 million?
2) in this world economy now, isn't 0.1BTC something that a 86years old would appreciate as retirement plan than someone in their 30s?

What about you? Do you think that whatever the value of 0.1BTC is in the next 30 years will suit you enough to feel like yes you are really retired with this amount of Bitcoin.

I have not seen or heard of this anywhere but I want to inform you that everyone has the right to decide how they will invest and also set their target and  as such, whatever people are saying should be considered much over your own decision. There is nothing wrong if someone has a plan and target to accumulate 0.1 Bitcoin because we all have our own target and plan. And I think someone who is able to get a 0.1 Bitcoin clearly is not doing bad I mean he or she should be a middle class.
