I raised concerns about this last year, or early this year. About how so many social media platforms are exposing kids to gambling, how they are allowing these gambling platforms to promote their sites. While, the social media operators, do not have anything set in place to protect children who might be using their site.
I saw on my cousin's Facebook page a video that had the BCGame logo and a little ad placed on it, being displayed to her, and yet she is very young. If I am to blame, I would blame the social media platform and not even the betting site because it is the job of those platforms to provide protection to their users and yet they couldn't do that.
This is nothing new and has been a big problem for half a decade or even a full decade. The reason why you are seeing it more now is that gambling advertising has intensified across all groups, not just the kids. But since the kids are more vulnerable that is more visible, but the abuse of social media and advertising in relation to gambling has been going on for some time. From what I can see the industry is strong and not much is going to be done by this from the side of regulators. Even if they do something it is usually done when a lot of money has been made and damage done. They are not slow because it is hard to do these things, they are intentionally slow so their business partners can make a lot of money from this abuse and only start doing something after these is a lot of attention to the problem.
If they really wanted to do something about this, they would have a law ready in a week. It is not that hard to deal with things that are not so complicated and have clear negative impacts.
