My recommendation here is to get ready to deal with such situations and have recovery information and the wallet itself.

Yes offline backup is important. Because you can never be sure if your internet and/or power will go down. You definitely do not want to get into a situation where you cannot access your coins. Having a written down seed isnt enough. You really should do practice run using a small amount to ensure your software works and that you know what you are doing. Many people discover their backup doesnt work until it is too late. Try not to store your seed on anything that can connect to the internet. The easiest and safest method for most people is to write it on metal plate or good quality paper and put it somewhere safe.

It is worth preparing a backup of wallet recovery processes and transactions in advance, which is an offline copy. People also tend to forget that to recover a wallet. They need to know how to recover a seed phrase and have the right software to use. However people tend to forget that to recover a wallet. They need to know how to recover a seed phrase and have a compatible software to utilize. If you experience a long power outage. It may be better to store that information locally than to have to remember it. But. Of course never store your seed phrase for the sake of convenience in a device that's connected to the internet. In the first place. Internet access may be temporarily lost. But you should not have to rely on your memory for recovering your funds.
It goes without saying that it is vital to have an offline backup, especially when speaking about our crypto money security. There is no guarantee that we will always have internet access and remember everything that is needed to restore our wallets... My recommendation here is to get ready to deal with such situations and have recovery information and the wallet itself. One cannot foresee when the power outage can occur and we won't have access to the internet, and we do not want to experience any trouble at the moment of withdrawal. However, it is necessary to realize that safety is the top priority. I definitely wouldn't save my seed phrase on the internet-connected computer.

That's just it, a recovery access is just too important, just as the internet is important to access your assets.

Sometimes, the internet keeps us stranded, and having no access l. So if we must find another way to access it or make any transfer offline, then we must ensure to have our keys and recovery seeds available somewhere offline.
Failing to keep it somewhere offline can be worrisome. Some fail to do so because they have the confidence of the availability of network always and feel they can access it on there device where it is saved. But because we can't predict, then saving things offline is still very important.

When we talk about Bitcoin security, decentralization. And self custody. We don't often consider what we are doing to be ready for a long period of an Internet outage. Normally, Bitcoin transactions need to connect with the network to be broadcasted and confirmed. People without internet access for several days may find it difficult to. Access reliable information or to manage their wallet and/or check transactions. However if a user on the Bitcoin network goes offline. That doesn't mean the Bitcoin network ceases operations  other users are still connected and able to keep the network going. Users should know, however. What they can do without causing harm while they await a re establishment of connectivity. It is crucial to keep private keys safe. But it is also essential to know the methods of wallet recovery and checking transaction status. Did you ever think about what you'd do if the internet went down for a long time?
Knowledge doesn't depend if my internet connection is on or off, Bitcoin knowledge is always available, even if we don't have internet conecton.
Internet connection is only relevant, if we want to send our coins or receive is and it is not necessary to have a connection to store coins in PoW coins like Bitcoin. Internet connection is relevant for PoS coins such like Ethereum.

I haven't thought about the internet going down for a long period. I absolutely don't know how that is possible, only in countries where there is a war. But even there, people have internet. It's the 21st century, and even if you lose your connection, you go to the nearest cafe and have internet. As for storage, private keys are called private for a reason, you keep them and only you use them. That's basically the most important thing, don't share your information with anyone and you're fine

Keeping our private key private is essential in Bitcoin to stay safe from hackers or online criminals. We have so many chances to get hackes and we alsways must be caution for our private keys. Offline storage is essential.

Losing access to the internet doesn't mean losing your Bitcoin knowledge. Your understanding of Bitcoin, blockchain technology, cryptocurrency security, and digital wallets remains with you even when you are offline. You can still remember important concepts, review previously saved notes, and understand how Bitcoin transactions and investments work without an active internet connection.

However, without internet access, you may not be able to check live Bitcoin prices, confirm transactions, access online wallets, or follow the latest cryptocurrency news. This is why keeping essential information backed up securely is important. Offline resources can also help you stay informed about Bitcoin security, investment strategies, and Tax Planning considerations related to cryptocurrency holdings.

Ultimately, your Bitcoin knowledge is something you carry with you, not something stored entirely online. Staying prepared with offline educational materials, secure wallet backups, and reliable records can help you make informed decisions whenever you reconnect. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced Bitcoin enthusiast, continuous learning and responsible Tax Planning can help you manage your cryptocurrency activities more confidently.

i think the important distinction is that you can create and sign a transaction offline but you still need some way to broadcast it to the netowrk eventually. for me the real preparation is having a proper wallet backup and knowing how to recover it rather than worrying about checking the balance during an outage

I don't think there's anyone who don't understand or know that keeping your private key private is very important in keeping your bitcoin safe, if you want to actually enjoy the fruit of your labor, meaning if you want to enjoy your bitcoin investment after accumulating for years then you must know and learn how to keep your private key very private, if anyone fail to do this then he or she should be ready to lose all their Bitcoin because hackers or scammers are always ready to take it from you.
Yeah offline storage is a must for every Bitcoin holder.

Did you ever think about what you'd do if the internet went down for a long time?

I probably won't do anything because my Bitcoin should stay secure like that even if I can't access it.. I'm actually more worried about other, more urgent things when the internet goes down.. For example, withdrawing money might be a problem because ATMs might not work or online banking services won't be available, and that could be difficult when you want to pay for something.. At times like that, having cash is a higher priority because online payments might be temporarily unavailable until the internet is back online.. And the impact of an offline internet could probably be chaotic because a lot of people depend on it.. I think worrying about other things makes more sense, since your Bitcoin will stay safe on the network.

There are ways to send Bitcoin offline, but you need to research which type to use based on your area, and I don't think you're trying to make a transaction.
If your Bitcoin is offline in your wallet, and your wallet hasn't been compromised (i.e., someone hasn't accessed it elsewhere), your Bitcoin is safe.
No matter the level of freedom that bitcoin offers via offline transaction possibilities, we should also consider some other part of bitcoin ecosystem that requires internet to function fully, e.g P2P challenge unless you ant going to exchange your bitcoin to cash via centralised exchanges.

Internet remains the integral part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem and also industrial society needs internet even more than bitcoin.

May be we should begin to look for other alternative to internet if there could be one, am not talking about provider's am talking of alternative to the internet in general.

No I don't bother as the internet going down for a week or longer where I live would likely mean World War III started or that a terrible disaster happened like a huge meteor strike or a massive earthquake.

When New Jersey USA was hit with a massive hurricane in 2012  my mining was off line for a few hours time.

did not mind as coins were 9 bucks at the time.

Bitcoin is a digital currency which does not have any physical form and it means that you should have an internet connection, if there is no internet connection I wouldn't worry myself because my Bitcoin is not lost, only thing is that I cannot send and receive Bitcoin until network is restored. If the internet were to permanently shutdown whatever would cause it must be catastrophic and Bitcoin would mostly likely not be my major concerns, if you cannot do Bitcoin transactions it means that you cannot do anything online, I think there would be panic everywhere because a lot of jobs and transactions are done online. This is why I don't take chances, I always leave some physical cash and store sizeable household items in the house Incase of emergencies.

The problem does not lie in losing ownership of Bitcoin should the internet go down for a couple of days. This is because Bitcoin is not stored on your mobile device or PC, it is stored on the blockchain ledger. Provided that you have your private key and a proper backup, you can retain control over your assets despite being offline. However you will have to go back online to initiate new transactions or verify that your transactions were confirmed. Transactions can also be generated and signed while offline and sent out after connecting to the internet. The true value of Bitcoin is that you have your assets under your control and you must be prepared for anything, including emergencies when there is no internet.

If your Bitcoin is offline in your wallet, except your wallet has been compromised like someone has accessed it somewhere else your Bitcoin is safe.
This is true and I agree with you on this and no matter how long the internet goes off even if it's a full year, your bitcoin will always still remain your bitcoin except it was acted upon by either scammers or compromised and that is why it is always advised to use decentralized wallets because with such a wallet, we are the ones that should  responsible for our coins and what becomes of it.

We have experienced several outages in the past, in fact, the forum went offline just a week ago and while it wasn’t something beyond our control, as it was a necessary measure to ensure the forum is protected from infiltration, the only solution was to wait.

It wouldn’t be far from what we would experience in any internet outage if that ever happens, be it on an individual or global scale. All you can do is only wait and what’s there to note is that, Bitcoin wouldn’t be the only sphere that would be affected. A great many field and services that uses the internet would too.

That being said, we are most likely not going to have to deal with such a thing.
