Many people might get offended from this topic. But it's the truth. This economy cannot carry 50k salary, high cost of transportation alone will finish the money and you will be left with peanut, so how do you survive?
U don’t think anyone is going to be offended, because na truth u talk, 50k salary no fit do anything again for dis country wey we Dey. D country don too spoil, money no get value again, if u hold 50k now, e just be like say na 5k u hold, because before u know d money don finish already. If u Dey dis country, and u really wan survive, then he better make u get multiple sources of income, don’t depend on only one source, because if that one source no Dey pay u well, then u no go fit achieve anything serious be that.

We are in 2026 and your smart phone is your company, people make 200k from tiktok, editing, selling thrift on Whatsapp.
U should know that not everyone will be able to earn from TikTok, just because say people Dey earn no mean say if u jump into am, u self go fit earn. If u no get people wey go properly guide u, or show u ways, e go Dey very difficult.

If you still earn 70k it's your fault for refusing to grow. Pride is killing many, Graduate will not do cleaning job, will not learn barbing,
If you know anyone into Learning job, you going to be disappointed when you hear the amount they are paid, or I don’t know the kind of cleaning job which you are talking about. D only place where people are getting things wrong is that they are not learning any skills, before you graduate from school, try and acquire some skills, it’s going to help after graduating.

Many people might get offended from this topic. But it's the truth. This economy cannot carry 50k salary, high cost of transportation alone will finish the money and you will be left with peanut, so how do you survive? We are in 2026 and your smart phone is your company, people make 200k from tiktok, editing, selling thrift on Whatsapp. If you still earn 70k it's your fault for refusing to grow. Pride is killing many, Graduate will not do cleaning job, will not learn barbing, will not sell market but will stay hungry and be asking for 2k because of certificate. The economy left low income behind, 100k in 2020 is now 40k value. If your income has not increased, you have really deprived yourself from earning more. Stop managing poverty, you can't build that future you dreamt of with low income, you need to upgrade your skills, expand your source of income, if you earn less than 100k today it's a choice, not a condition.
Actually most of the graduate in Nigeria now are regretting why they wasted their time and money studying when there is not employment opportunities for them, the time spent in school should have been what they would have use to grow some business because it actually feel shamefully seeing a graduate to be doing some cleaning jobs where they will get paid pinnut, to survive well in Nigeria now you need to earn high and also have many sources of income, but as a graduate instead of just folding hands waiting for a better paying job it's better to start up with something even if the amount might be low in time coming it might go high.

I don't know why a graduate should regret going to school just because they have not yet secured a job. Going to school is not only about getting a certificate and waiting for employment from companies or the government. There are other things that many people gain from school, and if they apply that knowledge, they can find something to do that will likely be earning them money. If an opportunity does not come today, it doesn't mean that it will not come tomorrow.Again, not everyone who goes into business becomes successful. There are people who started businesses over 20 years ago but have not been able to achieve anything reasonable. Some of them are still struggling and moving from one place to another in search of ways to make a living.

Even as a graduate, if a job opportunity has not yet come, you can still go out there and learn one or two skills. Within a short period, you may be able to learn a skill successfully and try that path as well. That's just life! You should also understand that, in the same way some people regret going to school, others regret not going to school and choosing to learn only a skill because they saw an opportunity somewhere. Everyone has their own experiences and challenges, so we should not conclude that going to school is a waste of time simply because someone has not yet secured a job.

Earning below 100k in Nigeria is not a choice for many graduate, where's the job? We all fighting for a better Nigeria so when post like this about blaming the citizens I just get annoyed. I understand the op very well, I agree with the point concerning citizens not working to meet the standard yet putting all the blame on Nigerians is not the best way to go about this issue. This just reminded me of an example; data is expensive, yes we know, so because I can afford it doesn't mean I should'nt complain about it. Let's go with the skills talked about, All these skills can't afford 100k within the space of one week for many citizens, At least TikTok is helping and the internet, no be lie sha not everyone is accesbile to TikTok.

No point comparing the Nigeria economy with other countries when the system is already bad, who still pays 50k ? Oh some private sector does because they also don't earn enough from their business.

There is one saying that they so say, that if you are working and you are making money, it will look as if the next person is lazy or the person is not doing enough. That is exactly what I see in this case. The OP might have lots of money and maybe does not know what to do with it, that's why he would say anyone who is making less than 100k is the problem. He probably does not know how many Nigerian graduates who are looking for a job of 50k,  let alone 100k.

The truth is, things are just hard in Nigeria, and the Nigerian government is not really doing anything about it, instead of them to provide job opportunities, they rather use the money for something else which is not beneficial to the citizens. I can say that Nigerians are really trying, looking at the fact that there is no job in the country, and things are even in the increase, yet, we are still finding a way to survive.
