As long as it is handled well, I don't see anything wrong with it.
Take Samsung, for example; they provide everything from Smartphones, Laptops, and headphones to home appliances like TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. They even produce automobile parts and display panels. They are also in the defence sector, providing miliatry hardwarre and also in constructions. I think they are also in heavy-duty shipping. I was surprised to learn recently that they are also in finance and offer life insurance, and also in the Biopharmaceuticals industry.
Despite all these, the company is still doing very well. So I believe if the business is run properly, expanding to different fields is not a problem.
The problem comes when they want to take on more than they can carry. This is where it will kill the business.
It is important to note that each sector should be run as an independent business. Some people take the profit of one side of the business to finance the other. That is a fast way to go out of business.

On a side note, as much as it may be good to diversify into other sectors, it will help not to use the Chinese model as a non-Chinese company because they may be getting funding from the State, or at least getting government support. This is one advantage Chinese companies have over non-Chinese companies.

This is not a big deal as there is nothing wrong producing anything that you can based on expansion, my most concern will be if the company are going to produce a quality products of any kind that are either consumable or material goods, if their products are good of course I will keep patronizing them in any of their products when I have the need. What the company did is good for business and business can involve anything for the purposes of profit maximization, just have a good standard that is all that matters to me.

It is just an adaptation and expansion; if the product goes well they need to add another product based on the current state and situation of the economy you must need to make an advannce thinking and think as an entrepreneur and not just stick on the product you have. If you want to grow your business, you need to expand, you need to adapt. Like what you have said its a positive approach because they know they can sustain their business if the other product is not in demand still they can use other product to produce money and continue their business venture. Yes, I am, I did not want to directly mention their name, but they are the reason I started this topic after seeing them market face wipes, that is Oriamo face wipes.

It is not hard to understand why they are expanding into non-tech products. Oraimo has become one of the biggest accessories company in Nigeria and in Africa. I use a whole lot of their products in my home. Now, since they already have a large share of the market and most Africans use them as their go-to for tech products, they know that if they adopt other non-related products, customers would have no problems buying them, since they are already used to getting quality goods from their brand.

Expanding is good but it should be done accordingly to avoid loosing the quality of the products the company started with, as a company known for electronics and now selling tissue paper and diapers maybe they just acquired the company producing those and labeled it in their brand name which I think would make their original electronic products look like a joke. If the company have a very good reputation, they can build anything and that particular product will sell due to their reputation. Addition to what you have said, for company to go into many products doesn't mean that they are killing the business, but they are making themselves richer because since they study the environment and know what they want, then why living that gap and that is exactly what  many business people are doing. Goal of every business person is to increase themselves in wealth and they don't hesitate when they see any opportunity that comes their way.

The reasonable thing is to have a quality product which people will enjoy and from there you will continue to rise. Quality is what people need and that is why that company the op is referring to are still growing, because they have confidence that people will buy and also they know the people still trust them based on their quality things.

I get what you saying and there are opportunities to win and invest besides business.They can be used to sell only one product.I have  also seen individuals who develop expertise and success with one product thinking they can just go into another product they know nothing about due to greed.They have the idea that they will achieve success in it like the first product although this is not the case at all.Laziness in business can also have a negative impact on the first product. So if you know how to do one thing do it more with less of distractions and do get successful in it or not  get greedy and not  destroy your business

That very true, consumers will always buy high quality products. However producers have found ways to outsmart us making it feel as though we arent just buying goods. but rather purchasing an endless lifestyle. In this era of booming e commerce, we often end up buying things we dont actually need things we merely want even if they arent truly useful to us we get ensnared by the advertisements we see. Personally, I make it a priority to focus on quality and only purchase what I actually need, so I dont fall into the traps set by marketers strategies that may be great for the business, but certainly arent friendly to our wallets.

I think the question you should ask is are they profitable doing this?

Remember that we are not supposed to put all eggs in one basket, and this should be a very good example of such even in the business world.

Selling other goods brings your customer closer because they will not have to go different places to search for variety. They will be happy to shop everything from one stop.

The best way to make it moderate is to have different sectors for the different products. That way it won't mix up everything and customers will be satisfied.

In some situation if a company have really build a popular brand and has gain a large population of the market, other entrepreneurs could strike a deal with the company to permit them use their trade mark to make other products while at the end, the entrepreneur pays some fees to the company, I think the term for that is franchising or contract manufacturing. However, it's not also bad that a company could have such a business model.

If that's what the electronic Chinese brand OP is talking about does, then the Brand will not rename the product, the name that will be written on the product will remain the name of the company that asks for franchising support. But they'll pay a huge percentage for their partnership agreement because they will gain lots of money during the whole process.

For me, this is what I call diversion diversification. Let's put it this way, a company can be doing very well in a particular product. Everyone knows the brand through that product and over the years they have built that trust with people. And people on the other hand know them for their good product.

Now they have seen another potential product that needs their attention. With that strong reputation they have built for that product, they then use that reputation on their other product. Fits the name at the top.

If i may ask, is it the first time you are seeing a business person venturing into many businesses? Surely there is nothing wrong if business moves from electronics to face wipe and slippers, what matters in business is making sure you supply goods according to the demand of your customers. So you get paid for the service you render. And I don't think if there is any law that forbid a person from selling multiple things. If there is, then it can be problematic when you go contrary to it. but in the absence of that, nothing is wrong. I don't know about other countries but mine, so long you can do it perfectly well without producing a harmful and deadly material, you can do as many as possible.

Yes, one company can have many businesses under their name. It could include a food business, electronics, cars, AI, etc. The reason they are able to do so is their financial power. Provided they can afford to pay thousands of workers and meet the demand of the consumers, it's a good initiative for the company.

In addition, it is good for a business to expand to any length that it can operate with. Take, for example, Elon Musk; he has many businesses, but he used one to gain recognition and trust.
