Bitcoin has gained lot of interest and value because it is believed to know that it is more secure and trustworthy than any other coin and i have also understood that for long time investment then such person should choose bitcoin. While for short time investment people should be choosing altcoin but how trustworthy is altcoin and part from bitcoin how long do you think you can hold altcoin to maximise profits from their investment of altcoin?

When we are talking about assets, altcoins are not supposed to be in the conversation because they hold no potential value in them. If you want to trust Bitcoin more you will need to invest in altcoins and also invest in Bitcoin and see which of them will be sustainable in the long-term. Any investment that cannot survive for a very long time is not an asset because an asset is supposed to retain its value. Bitcoin is a valuable investment so it is very important to invest in Bitcoin alone but if you want to add some other cryptocurrency to your portfolio then you will have to finish the stage of accumulation with Bitcoin.

There is high failure rate of altcoins especially the new created once, as high as 98% which means you must be extremely lucky to invest in altcoin that will give you profits. A lot of us in this forum have had one or two experiences of altcoins that appeared very promising, but when investment are made in them, they failed resulting in big losses. That is why you see people are leaning towards bitcoin as the only reliable coins to buy and hold. Every other thing should best be treated as gambling, which means investing on them should be with amount that the investor will be willing to lose.

Bitcoin has a good record that others can't relate with and used for different purposes asides store of value, Alts are just trying to be like Bitcoin but not have reached the standards that's why i supprt that they're not worth being classified as an asset.

The level Bitcoin has attained in the asset class is high and it has the potential to even rank higher than currently, that's something that would take other currencies many more years to get there or they might not even attain it, not even Ethereum. So after having this the knowledge of how important Bitcoin is an asset, i doubt if anyone well informed would leave it for others.

A person may buy an altcoin and make a profit within a few days but he can also lose a large part of his capital. There are some important differences between bitcoin and altcoins. Bitcoin has a fixed supply limit a decentralized network. And in the case of altcoins they work in complete opposite ways. You asked how long it is possible to get the maximum profit by holding altcoins. I do not have a specific answer to this question. Because where trading in altcoins means spending your own funds in a gambling situation there is doubt about whether you will actually make profit or not. So how long will you keep it  holding it has become an unrealistic and illogical question. Personally I do not think investing or trading in altcoins is right. I do not want to discourage anyone's personal freedom. You can invest or trade in altcoins if you want. But if you ask this related question on the forum, most users will tell you to invest only in bitcoin and that with a long term holding mindset. Then you should understand that since many of the other users have been involved with cryptocurrency for a long time, their experience is definitely much more than the newbies. So if your intention is to invest for a long time I personally say that investing in bitcoin. Trading in altcoins is much more risky.

But one of the most important reasons people choose Bitcoin over any other asset is Bitcoin's ability to act as a store of value. You necessarily can't trust investments a hundred percent because of the risks tied to them but you can selectively calculate which and which to go for based on your personal risk assessment and allowance.  The thing is crypto on its own constitutes one of the highest risks.

Bitcoin risk is actually very high especially if it's for retirement. You can try other conventional ones like stocks and low riska like mutual funds.

Comparing the trust of Bitcoin to any altcoin at all even for a reference purposes to me is an insult to Bitcoin, giving also a suggestion to invest in altcoin either being it for confirming that Bitcoin is more of an asset and reliable than altcoin shouldn't be taken into consideration or thought about, because they are thousands miles away from each other.

Unlike Bitcoin's portfolio to have made many investors wealthy, most altcoin has done the exact opposite to many investors, wrecking many investments and making many people loose fortunes after investing in them.

The Reason we often advise people to focus on bitcoin is because of their newbie stage of things, they don't have the knowledge to properly manage their risk and identify the righ asset to put their investment into.

This is only reason why newbies should focus on bitcoin.

But for those of us who already build some level of knowledge in the market, is best for us to set aside higher percentage of our investment in Bitcoin, and the rest on other coins like BNB and the rest.

Nobody recommended altcoins for short term investment, because the probability of you making profits from that altcoin is always a factor that is based on luck, most especially meme coins. And that's the same way it can also liquidate your capital very fast too. Because if you happens to invest in the wrong altcoin, that's how you will lose everything. So in a nutshell, I will still recommend Bitcoin for both short and long term investment. But one thing you should have in mind when considering short term investment is the fact that you should know that the market can either appreciate or depreciate anytime, and if the market happens to fall when you had already planned to withdraw your investment. Then you should be ready to either withdraw at a loss or allow it stay longer again for better profits.

I did not forget about those crashes, as they are recorded deep into the history of the crypto market. They are altcoins and shitcoins; whatever feels best to describe it, Bitcoin is the best way to start, no doubt, but I still can’t stop anyone who wants to give altcoins a try.

As fast as crypto is concern, Bitcoin is the top coin, it is the pioneer crypto asset that was created as alternative to fiat, it is decentralized and have limited supply, this will make it keep adding value as the demand will be higher than supply; this is the reason why we focus so much on Bitcoin because the investment looks promising. While other crypto projects as also good, but they are centralized, this is the reason why we prefer Bitcoin over any investment as far as crypto is concerned.

The reason why people choose altcoin investment for short term is because of price volatility, and price can easily be manipulated on altcoin market easily, and we do have altcoins that can give you 10x and above winning short period of time depending on how the market performs.

Just as you've said here, when it comes to long term investment, taking Bitcoin as the top choice gives a secured return when the market takes its trajectory upward.
Altcoins, I have observed it that they give quick returns when the market starts seeing some positive changes and their prices moves along, just that this doesn't stay for long, therefore, when the profits shows, sell and take profits, while waiting for the market to drop again to buy.

I don't think that the OP has made up his mind to invest in altcoins or shitcoin.  In the later part of his post, he acknowledged that Bitcoin is still the best asset for investment so you are not stopping anyone who has made up his mind to invest in altcoins. The post is all about asking for the opinion of other experienced members of this forum on how to proceed.
