Im in the richest 1%........ I have 1.

What? 1% of Bitcoin doesn't own 1 Bitcoin.

99% of wallets with bitcoin in them are between 0.0000000001 and 1.0.  Somebody can correct me if im wrong.

Amazing to read that people 'just' own 100-500 bitcoin in 2010, something you can now buy a house from (if you do not have it on Mt.Gox).  Inspiring!

How much Bitcoin does one have to own to be considered rich?

That depends on if you're asking today or next week.

Today, at least 1,000BTC
Next week, maybe 10,000BTC is needed.

Night gathers, and now my bitcoinwisdom watch begins.

I must say seeing these posts from 2010 of people just being like I got 500 is quite comical, I'm curious how many just mined or bought for fun not even thinking they would become so valuable.

Anyway I have a whopping 0.02042131BTC all from some minimal mining, but I'm starting to ramp that up, plus dabbling in some altcoins. Feel free to help me break that .1 mark 1DDDanFske9eyyziu21bVAvAf5FHAkf3s4  Smiley

You may have a decent chance to pick some up cheap soon when the MtGox issue is played out. If you still have confidence in bitcoin's recovery.

As long as youre using CPU/GPU for mining youd be better forgetting mining btc and just mine alt coins on multipool looking at the most profitable coin, then periodically convert them to btc.

Seeing the posts at the start of the thread from 2010 makes me wince. If only they knew! If OP still has his 5k BTC then he must be very happy indeed...

I have 1.2 BTC.

I think a fair few people who bought a thousand or more coins from minute one might have played out the following scenarios.

1 - Scammed into oblivion.

2 - Spent on Alpaca socks.

3 - Gambled into oblivion.

4 - Sold most at $0.10/ $1/ $10 thinking it could never go higher.

5 - Lost or deleted their private keys.

If everyone knew it was going to hit the heights it has it would've been $100,000 per coin on the first week of the market.

You still got plenty of time.
