These old threads are hilarious. The bitcoins they are talking about are worth 1000 times more now, and all the exchanges they were using have disappeared along with customer funds.

It puts everything in perspective and you become extremely bullish Tongue It feels those posts have been written 10 or 20years ago because the situation and the price were so different but it was only a few years ago

"Had" being the operative word.  This was quite a long time ago.  The price at the time was about 0.06 USD/BTC (up about 10-fold from 3 weeks earlier).

Besides, OP was quickly trumped by knightmb who revealed his 370 000 BTC stash.

I'm not sure how many of these early adopters managed to hold onto their bitcoins all these years.  I know I sold most of my bitcoins from back then during the June-2011 bubble.

Unfortunately for many early adopters, there were plenty of bubbles that looked like they were a great time to sell, only for the price to go up ~10x in the semi near future again

I started reading from the OP and I thought, All these people have to be joking right? People sitting on 1000+BTC, Then I read the hashing speed, Then i read the date /facepalm LOL

I will not tell what I actually hold, I do hold some in the hopes I will be better off (notice I did not say rich, It will be a long time before BTC reaches big money, Sorry guys  Roll Eyes )I try and live my life in the BTC world, But I have to have roots in the FIAT system or I would simply die, We are no where near survivable as far as living standards go.

I personally don't believe anyone would post the REAL amount of BTC they hold

I wonder how many actually held that amount till 2013 when the price increase happened.
Would have been tempting to sell those, even when the price went up to 100$.

To be fair, the price increased plenty before 2013.  The price increased 600-fold during the 11 months from OP, dwarfing the 100-fold rise from base to peak we saw in 2013 (remember, OP was following a 3-week, 10-fold rally so many of these holders would be looking at a 6000-fold rise in 1 year).  The temptations to sell at certain points were greater back then as volatility was higher and future adoption was far more uncertain.  I can attest to the temptation of selling at parity (1 USD/BTC) when you're sitting on many bitcoins that you generated with a single desktop computer or bought for peanuts just a year earlier.
