Most people have more posts than activity, but my activity always catches up with my posts. The activity number is determined in this way: time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration activity = min(time * 14, posts)
Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

Activity is calculated based on the number of 2 weeks period you were active in*14 or the number of posts (the lowest value of those two is the one displayed as activity).

My activity always catches up with my posts. That's wierd!
It will until you reach 14 posts. You can only get a max of 14 every two week period.

Simply: You will get maximum of 14 activity every 2 weeks period If you have posted at least once in that 2 week period.
Basically you get 14 activity but It's possible to get 28 activity in 2 week period. But If you post consistently every 2 week period you'll get 14.

Most people have more posts than activity, but my activity always catches up with my posts. 5 months after OP made this thread, his post count and activity now are 1981 and 196 respectively. TBH, I find it pretty interesting.

Because you are an old member and active but not posting too much , activity= 14 every 2 weeks "or number of posts or lowest value"

So in the beginning activity rises slowly, but with the time, even if you post rarely it will still be growing?

It rises the same, but I guess it goes up faster if you have many more posts. If seems to go up one per post when you're a newb, but if you have many more posts than you do activity your activity will go up to 14 with one post but you still only get 14 points for that period. It's confusing and ive probably not helped but you'll get the hang of it.
