I found this interactive history of Bitcoin and it is very interesting, but the information in 2008-2009 is rather sparse.  Can anyone add more information points, such as difficulty reaching 1, 10, 100, 1000, etc, blocks mined, more transactions, amount of hardware being used, etc?  Type additional data in posts here.

I found another chart and it showed difficulty staying at 1 all the way through 2009.

DAMN do I wish I had a room full of PCs pimping out the blocks for me in that year!  I'd be a multimillionaire now!!!!

Why, Oh GOD Why did I not know to do this then?!?!?!?  AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'd likely have to write your own mining software for that too (bitcoind had one included but its performance was... not optimal). Hindsight is 20/20 though, the real question is if you'd be saying in 5 years: "DAMN, 2014 I could have gotten BTC for just 500 USD a piece!"

https://www.coinlend.org <-- automated lending at various exchanges.
https://www.bitfinex.com <-- Trade BTC for other currencies and vice versa.

I have some early Bitcoin history in this post. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=400235.msg6270580#msg6270580 Mostly regarding what the fair market value of 1 BTC was in late 2009 early 2010.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card
