I have been waiting for this for a while as I had the power go out a few weeks ago and had to delete everything in appdata except for the wallet.dat of course and sync the blockchain from the start again. Lucky the blockchain isn't that big so it didn't take long but was this a hassle so I'm very happy for this update. Thanks dev!

At the moment, the masternode would earn slightly more, but this depends on the number of active masternodes. If more and more become active, rewards per masternode will drop further, so at some point the rewards for a masternode, and for POS staking 10k should be identical.

I've seen a some of foolish users with empty thoughts which do not understand the technology implemented in DMD.

If powered your PC has been off until a full sync of the wallet, when you start you will see a warning window:


 
Click "OK" and the wallet will automatically update the entire database with blocks.
No need to delete anything manually more.

Edit: Tried the installer and after one hour the wallet crashed again. I have various other wallets on that machine that work flawlessly. In that one hour the wallet was running fine staking did not work either. Please advise.
