I am confused now lol - I thought these figures, 60 seconds (PoW) and 600 seconds (PoS) were the block times. It says below that the difficulty retarget is every block.
PoW and PoS work independently of each other, so block time will be different for each of the protocols.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

[ maybe you should set up a MP proxy that uses WP as a backend and pays out in DMD (for example as KTK mining pool does).

PoW and PoS work independently of each other, so block time will be different for each of the protocols. check blockexplerer and diff and seek throught a lot of blocks u will see most block have high diff that are POW blocks some blocks have low diff that are POS blocks and u will see lot more POW blocks happens around 10x more...... why we chose "slow" pos blocks? fast pos blocks load up blockchain unnessesary at hybrid POS/POW coins we dont need a POS every min we have POW to take care of transactions we only need POS for the stake coins protect network and to payout the earned POS rewards if ya waited a month to mint new rewards u dont need instant rewarded with lot pos-blocks once u set wallet into minting mode other coins do this and its a big danger of forking if pos blocks roll out that fast that they start confirming each other but all come from same wallet... its just one of a lot POS traps we fixed at diamond maintain POS coins need deep understanding of mechanics and code (as danbi have) or a big BTC wallet to pay regulary one of the few freelancer who really know how it works this is a path lot coins go and i see it as a big danger to be not able maintain own wallet code

We need permanent nodes on each continent with high speed backbone connections to each other ...
You need permanent nodes 'locally' because these nodes will feed you new blocks when syncing. For example, after you have not started your wallet for a while. Other than that, the permanent nodes will not change much. Your wallet will receive a list of other nodes from any node to which it connects, so it will have that list and will establish connections to other node as possible (trying one by one until it connects to as many as configured). Any blocks you generate will be broadcast to all your connected nodes and will then find their way trough the network (the same way, the next node will broadcast to everybody etc). The high speed backbone connections... once upon a time (read: 25 years ago), we had a single 64kbit line connecting (the whole of) Europe and (the whole of) the US. We used that mostly for bulk e-mail and news transfer, but also for interactive TCP/IP sessions. That was before then web existed. The mortal users had typically a 9600 bps dialup modems. With very big latencies. At that time, it was possible to talk about 'faster backbone between sites'. Today, the latency in your LAN is in microseconds, at least a Gigabit Ethernet. The bandwidth between continents increase, but latency remains the same --- around 100ms Europe-US -- actually limited by the speed of light. We can expect latency to go down only when we move to another transport medium, not fiber optic. Local pool helps more, because your miner's interaction with it will have much lower RTT and usually less congestion (since telcos decided to play ISPs things with overselling the same bandwidth to more users only became worse). So just bring more pools for Diamond

I have just seen the format and noticed that Diamond logo made its way to the front cover. Will dive into it when finished. Please note that there's going to be an independent article written about Diamond; should be out today or tomorrow. We gave an interview, so most likely you will learn about our history in greater detail. We will refer a link here once it's published.

Exactly and that's why I have such terrible results your pool at close to 300ms each direction I get as many rejects as accepted Hence the multiple endpoint solution sugessted a few posts back, I get low latency/rtt to WP endpoint I'm using so it makes more sense for me to mine there and just buy DMD which also has a good effect on DMD by providing upward pressure on price

From 1st of August http://dmdpool.digsys.bg will introduce 1% mining fee. Let's hope this will encourage the creation of more mining pools for Diamond.
