The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

There's a few sites that have cropped up - gift card drainer is one of them that pays either to bitcoin or paypal, with a fee structure that is based on the cost of the currency handling plus a flat transaction fee, with the USD pegged to the bitcoin, so utlimately everything is calculated in USD and then divided by the current exchange rate for BTC. It appears that the site administrators, however, are doing some impromptu research into the legality of the operation. I hope that someone figures out a good solution because I am nearly swimming in a bunch of gift cards that I would very much love to turn into bitcoon!!!

Good luck!

Moolah V2, a new version of a trustworthy exchange (Prelude.io), should be online tonight; it will allow buying coins with a credit card.

What about prepaid giftcards?
Prepaid cards bought in the US, only work with US cc processors. They do not allow international purchases. So like coin.mx... can't buy bitcoins there using giftcard. But you can use a regular credit card.

This might not work for prepaid credit cards then, since it is based in the UK.
