So we have a couple of CryptoNote technology implementations and a lot of discussions around them.

I ask you not to deteriorate existing solutions, but to create a new version of CryptoNote based cryptocurrency that will suit us all.

I'm ready to develop it, but I need to clarify your wishes concerning:
*Coin name
*Emission curve
*Additional features

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I think we should wait and see if we can come to some kind of consensus on fixing BMR/MRO. If not then another fork is needed to finally get a nice clean coin that can showcase the CrypoNote technologies with issues of premines, rushed launches, etc.

No fork is needed.  Solutions to problems can be found.  Making fork when people disagree is bad.  Vote for the solutions is the best way.  I go with whatever majority wants.  If I lose coin then I lose coin.  Making new fork is bad and lose credibility.  Vote is the only way as talked about on main thread.  Coin is good but talk of fork makes it weak and looks bad.

i dont think so ^^^^.

a new lunch with fairer distribuition is in order. mro lunched 6 days ago and i can't mine anything. while probably 200k coins are out already :/

looking for C++ coders , web-dev and coin-devs to join karmacoin team. We are trying to expand. we have so many goals. Challenge accepted?  PM me.

That makes no sense to relaunch because you can't mine anything.  It's same with any coin.  It hard to mine darkcoin but I don't say they should relaunch.  You can't mine cinni but I don't say relaunch because I can't mine coin.  So the people that have been mining should just lose all coin value because you can't mine?

Your logic applied would mean all coins need relaunch because you not mine when coin launch so coin needs relaunch so you can get blocks.  People finding blocks.  Maybe you do something wrong?

I think there were talk of vote to make changes coin going forward.  What status of that?  Can dev give update please?  Thanks.

What about the minard pool?

Could they mine this coin in private while we only use out CPU? How would this answer to this abuse?

I think there should be some clean transparency and make sure this coin does not get instamined like MRO. Otherwise it will be just a fork

I think there should be some clean transparency and make sure this coin does not get instamined like MRO. Otherwise it will be just a fork
- instamine: MRO is not instamined. BCN (MRO predecessor) was ninja-mined for two years.
- miner pool: AFAIK, no pool available yet. You are free to come and help setting it up. Even if you are not a coder: promoting monero doesn't require coding skills and could attract coders willing to create such a pool
- hidden pool: if there was one, it might show on the difficulty. I don't have enough technical knowledge to back up my claims, though - probably someone with more technical knowledge could answer, buy I think hidden pool would not hurt the crypto, it would juste better spread the crypto among the hidden pool's users.
- abuse: the real abuse would be botnets. We suspect there is already a botnet at work, considering the difficulty.

A note on style: we are trying hard to be transparent. Mostly everything is done on either forum or IRC (only a few things are done by mail and PM and so far, no decisive action happened this way). The same way, the "monero" account on bitcointalk is a shared account so that several persons can change the thread. The same goes for the website (monero.cc). As for decision-making, we bote on IRC with embedded tools (botmonero handles the votes) and we are planning to implement blockchain-voting so that miner vote, no forum user. Finally, we answered to everyone who PM'ed to ask for joining us.
Considering this, pleas regarding lack of transparency are, dare I say, insulting. Since I usually assume good faith on people, I will consider this plea as being an avatar of "once bitten twice shy" and not genuinely aggressive Smiley

That being said, a fork with solid reasons is OK, of course. "Solid reasons" requires argumentation so as long as it is there (and that the argumenter are ready to abandon their plan if they prove wrong - otherwise, this is not argumentation, this is sophism), no problem.

Monero: the first crytocurrency to bring bank secrecy and net neutrality to the blockchain.HyperStake: pushing the limits of staking.

- instamine: MRO is not instamined.

The concept is frankly absurd. Out of a total of 18 million coins, only about 170 000 have been mined so far.

Why do you prefer the CryptoNight proof-of-work over other CPU-friendly alternatives,
like my Cuckoo Cycle?

For one thing, if you're doing a code fork, it's less work to keep the existing PoW. That wouldn't necessarily be a reason to not change for a good reason, but it is a reason to not change without a reason.

My wishes for a Cryptonote-based coin are similar to Peercoins advantages:

a) Powersaving techology of mining/minting, all the CPUs running with full power hurts me.

b) A small inflation of max. 1% every year (in the long run), for stabilizing the price, for substitution of lost coins, and for better secure the network, see this hint here:
That is exactly what I mean. Wow. I thought I was being vague. You either took a random stab in the dark or you see the fundamental flaw of almost every cryptocurrency out there. A fixed money supply with a decreasing block reward is destined to fail. You can't have proof of work with infinite work and only finite proof. What happens when the proof runs out? Miners won't work for free, and transaction fees won't cut it by themselves. New work must yield new proof.
The reward for PoS minters should differ from Peercoin: It should be proportional to the processed coin age. But if possible, other than with Peercoin, the coin age of the minters coins should not be considered, not to support big wales even more.

Please hurry up and deploy 1000 shitcoin cryptonote clones. Because the only reason all the shitcoins have failed so far is not having the Cryptonote crypto. Obviously.
