When will a new Monero wallet be released, it seems like the HH release is pretty old.
No new bugfixes and patches since then?
I would like to see more security bugfixes, there is no way that Monero is perfect security wise. Are we going to see updates soon?
Well if there is no way there is not security flaws then find them and point them out and claim the bounty. How much do you think Monero Market Cap is gonna be in Jan/2019 ??

this is the proper thread for this question. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.0;topicseen

Don't forget bullet proofs. Possibly an even bigger deal than any of the things you mentioned there.

People are getting too emotional about scam/hype coins "overtaking" Monero. Marketcap is easily game-able and will eventually become meaningless. Those hype coins will be forgotten in a few weeks or months. Monero, on the other hand, will stand the test of time. Building for the long term always entails short term sacrifices.
What makes Monero better than other privacy coins? It sure is expensive at around $400. Sure, the people who got in early are happy no doubt about it, but not too many people can afford it right now. Wouldn't it be a good idea to use multiple privacy coins in order to diversify? Monero is expensive because many wants it and the supply is also limited. Monero has been tested and proven already throughout the years. It had its ups and downs. Every misstep it made, the devs made Monero even stronger. The new privacy coins are untested. Their faults are yet to be discovered. They reason they always compare to Monero is because Monero is one of the flagship coins they have to measure themselves to.

Maybe if there were other privacy coins. Monero doesn't have any competition. Yes I am aware of dark coin and verge and zcash ect... and I repeat, Monero doesn't have any competition.

You can build from master whenever you want. Any critical security issues would get a point release. Next major release in a couple of months I think. Master doesn't always compile does it. I avoid running in-development branches, since they always have some slight bugs in them. I wait for a normal release.
Well if there is no way there is not security flaws then find them and point them out and claim the bounty.
I don't know I am not a professional programmer. But I bet there are plenty of security flaws. I would guess some of the encryption stuff should be more verified and looked into. Monero already had an encryption based vulnerability in the past, it could weaken anonymity, so that is a massive risk point. I would look into that if I would be a developer.

I agree. We should all panic dump and nobody should ever buy Monnero again! The Monerro Enterprise Alliance is worse than if the Ethereum Foundation and Dash Core mated and produced a scam-baby.

I suspected you might be talking about the second link there. And as it says in the title it wasn't an exploit and it doesn't count. The third one is also something we all knew about and was the reason I was advocating for minimum mixin levels since I first read the first whitepaper. The first link however is interesting. I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. It's very new technology so it hasn't been researched a lot by many scientists.
I'd not be surprized if Monero would be totally broken in the next 5 years by a cyptographic research group.
This is actually a common misconception. Monero's security model is built upon making very basic assumptions about how very well tested and long vetted cryptographic schemes will interact with each other. There is the possibility that these basic assumptions could be wrong. That is always the case with all assumption. But this risk is kept to a minimum by making the fewest and smallest assumptions possible. It's not new tech. It's old tech put togather in a new way but in such a way as to make the fewest assumptions possible. This criticism makes it sound like you are talking about ZCash not Monero.

So what's the deal, did the patch get enabled or do I have to use the --user-agent argument? I use cli exclusively.

So what's the deal, did the patch get enabled or do I have to use the --user-agent argument? I use cli exclusively. It isn't going to take the dev team more than a few days to patch any vulnerability that has been detected and made public. I wouldn't worry about it. I certainly am not.

So what's the deal, did the patch get enabled or do I have to use the --user-agent argument? I use cli exclusively. That post is from last year. This issue has long since been addressed, and only applied to people running RPC wallets (generally exchanges, etc.) and even then only in an insecure setting (no isolated VM/container, same system as a browser, etc.) Also this was not any sort of "encryption" or cryptography bug, and arguably not a bug at all. If you tell the wallet to open up a port to listen for commands (is not, and never was the default behavior), then you better secure access to the port.

You can't look up wallet balances on a Monero block explorer.

Once Bulletproofs go live. That's either March or September. In addition, you might be interested in reading: https://getmonero.org/2017/12/11/A-note-on-fees.html
